  • How to remove the axle on a Shimano XT 785 hub with loose ball bearings. Watch the next videos to come as I remove and replace the freehub body (freewheel). This is applicable to all loose ball bearing style hubs and can assist you with the removal of thru axle style hubs as well like the rear wheel 12mm an the front wheel 15mm.

    I've been a shop mechanic and Pro team mechanic for 30 years and have never seen a cracked Shimano freehub body, it is strange that, great channel by the way

    Howdy. My friend, I don't know where you are from, but you have a good English pronunciation. Good luck in what you do!

    while it's a small pain, I keep old beyond-use wheels for spoke-scavenging. if for some reason I don't keep a freehub wheel, I do salvage the freehub off of it; it's easy to do, doesn't require much storage space, and it's handy to have known-working spares.

    ....Sir i have a problem.When i put the 4th gear in my mountain bike and starting pedal i hear a repetitive sound like touk-touk-touk-touk..This sound is only when i put the 4th gear in the rear gears.What can i do about that??..thanks!!

      Hi. There is no one answer unfortunately. But inspect the 4 th gears teeth. The teeth will look uneven to some extent and this is normal. Look for any one tooth that is severely out of shape

    Is this a common problem with the XT 785 that the freehub cracks and seizes?

    • @BikeTeacher
      @BikeTeacher  Před rokem

      I can’t say it’s common for that model. I don’t t see this happen often to a freehub. Maybe a fluke.

    I have a 2019 Specialized Sirrus Carbon Comp, it uses hfh- 0013 freehub. 12 mm thru axle , sealed bearing. I need to replace my free hub, I can’t find reliable info anywhere, on how to take this darn freehub off. Would greatly appreciate any help.

      How did it go? I will look for any available area to put a tool on. If I can't find anything, I will pull end caps off and go from there.

    So how did you remove the freewheel hub?

    • @BikeTeacher
      @BikeTeacher  Před 3 lety +1

      I did not in this video. But you can use a 10mm Allen in Most cases in the freehub side and loosen it counterclockwise.

    The new Shimano hubs are absolute junk, stick with the older Deore ones, LX(SLX with steel axles.
