Exhaust Back Pressure Blocked DPF BMW X3

- BMW X3 E83 with M57D30 engine. The complain is DDE light turned on all the time. After reading the fault codes, it turned out that there were NONE... Later on with the help of BMW Ista-D, we were able to capture the stored error codes in the ECU :
00480A DDE: Particulate filter system bank 1
00481A DDE: Particulate filter system bank 1

if i remember correctly errors regarding the DPF regen are *NOT* stored in the standard fault codes. so maybe your diag tool can't access these other "second level" fault codes. funny thing is that the ECU/DDE keeps track of its regens and actually knows when it hasn't done a regen for a long time but won't throw any codes. many times the thermostat goes bad in the first place leading to too cold water temp and thus leading the DDE to think it's not ready for a regen yet. in order to start a regen the DDE checks various parameters to make sure the engine is nice and hot.
Balkan style. Love it. Good for you guys at least keeping a DOC in there.
The reason is often the exhaust temperature sensor before DPF which is failed (reporting -40°C). So the regen can not start. There are two exhaust temperature sensor: one before catalyst and one before DPF.

I have black smoke coming from my x3 e83 2006 on hard excelleration it stops when I put Wynne's dfp cleaner in it. But was told it could be a sooted up turbo will Wynne's turbo diesel Cleaner help stop black smoke ..the turbo has a slight wine but cars drives perfectly

Съвет обади се в склад66 и си договори ъпдейт на лънча 75 лв струва за 1 година , естествено след този ъпдейт продължава да си работи софта, в момента ъпдейта на бмв е 50,54 версия, преди да ъпдейтна и на мен ми се е случвало да не показва грешки , като например на е60 изгорели крушки на ейнджълите, също на х3 не съм могал да изтрия грешките в аербега, принципно главно си използвам Иста+ , но Лънча е доста удобен за бърза диагностика и живите му данни са доста удобни :) Поздравления много ми харесва , че има човек като теб, който прави подобни видеа и е българин !!!! п.с. също ако имаш нужда от фулл иста+ с версия на актуализация 2020г.6 месец мога да ти помогна :)
Мерси ! :) Все го отлагам да го ъпдейтна, че без него за няколко дена ще стане опашка пред сервиза :D Един колега имаше ядове с неговия след ъпдейт и няколко дена го мъчиха да го подкарат. Като цяло бях питал този онзи да ми преинсталира истата, че нещо много често ми дава тази грешка в началото като "дешифрира" автомобила ( няма пълния набор от тестове, опций за МПС-то ). Ама нещо все на камък удрях и никой не му се хващаше. Така че ще е супер ако може да съдействаш.
@@crank3646 Не се притеснявай ъпдейтва се много лесно и ъпдейта е от разстояние в смисъл такъв пращат ти лънчер в който вписваш номера ти на донгъла теглиш ъпдейта, правиш го на рар файл, после най-лесно открих че става да се качи ъпдейта в гугъл диск оттам сваляш на таблета .като трябва единствено да инсталираш рар от гугул плей после само разархевираш и инсталираш две икони и си ти, за да не си прецакаш таблета първо го направи на друго устройство можеш да го инсталираш на неограничен брой устройства прати ми един имейл на codingbmwsofia@gmail.com да ти опиша най-подробно или там да разменим телефони да ти обясня всичко за ъпдейта както да ти дам линк за иста+
You didn’t check the actual soot mass or ash mass! That car has high mileage and probably has a lot of ash in the DPF. You need to use a product like Wurth DPF cleaner to clean the soot AND ash.
That was clever ! But what do you think regarding cleaning the dpf ? It won't last to long !?
Most of the time it wont, if you don't find the root which caused that blockage. Can be injectors, EGR, MAF, mechanical engine failure, turbo failure etc. It can go really expensive trying to fix everything which is wrong in the car, so that is why most of the owners choose, this type of repair.
having a similar cold start condition on my 2004 x3 e83 (3.0). Also ses light is on for code P2098. Trying to rule out a clogged cat converter.

For some reason people are getting crazy mad, when I film things like this, so I decided to not do it this time :D It is nothing special about it. The same as removing catalytic converter + the software removal process

@@crank3646 my mate has said he will do it for me this weekend! he has the software too to make it think its had a new one, he said itll just think its ok! Main thing is he has a ramp, i dont, i can weld etc, dont want to mess it up! thanks mate or the help!

@@Avtovaz21057 I'm not exactly sure this will work. The ECU is expecting some small deviations even with new DPF. You will have none, so I'm almost sure that there will be some fault code, back pressure related. Its not big of a deal, you can try, it will not harm anything.

Can you repair BMW differential? It's 168L i=2,47. It needs new bearings.
Nope sorry. We are not repairing diffs, most of the time, we are sending them to a person which is doing only that.

Doesn’t seem like it’s getting up to operating temp. Usually on BMWs the needle should be in the centre on the temp gauge. I’ll bet the thermostat is stuck open and this is not allowing a regen of the PDF.
Just saw that it finally got up to temp.

Topic came just in time. I have inspection Monday 22.3. After that I wonder if I should put in a downpipe,,or empty the dpf and put it back in..(with kat. intact if possible). What is your advice?
That topic is always on time when you have M57 :D Depends... In your situation, you have much higher emission restrictions than here. The car gets much louder with the downpipe, I personally don't like it for a car like that. The catalytic converter is going to keep your exhaust tone like the original one. Without it you probably know how is sounding ... like is hollow, especially on idle.

@@e55v86 If you have good injectors and mechanically good combustion chamber aka good compression on all of the cylinders, there should be almost no smoke going out of your exhaust, doesn't matter with or without DPF

Имал съм 200 случая в които ,лънч,think car, и други диагностики не хващат понякога някои грешки при бмв и мерцедес. Единствената програма която чете правилно бмв е INPA, Ista+ Rheingold. Ако ще правиш нещо по БМВ задължително четеш колата с тази програма и читав кабел иначе е така ще си гадаеш

"Back pressure sensor" it is cheap and easy to change... 😁

@@crank3646 хахаха да прав си, така е . Но ми прави същите номера. Смених му подгревните съответмо половината наистина не работиха , но лампата светва когато и е кеф. Като се прибера на бг пак ще я погледна но до колкото помня такива номера правеше и грешки мисля че не излизаха на диагностика.
