- For this episode of Tone Deaf I sat down with my good buddy Jinxx (Black Veil Brides) to talk about how fatherhood has influenced his artistic outlook, the perils of drugs and alcohol in the industry and, of course, the fine art of "hotbagging".
Check out our newest song together "Party Monster" out now everywhere: ampl.ink/8ZzqQ

Bringing art to music.
Daniel Graves.
What a nice guy. It went so fluent, I really enjoy these conversations. Waiting eagerly for the next one!
Feeling guilty about the silver lining thing is very real. I had covid back in march, and my sense of taste hasn't been the same, and I can still barely smell anything. But there has been an up side to that for me. Which I hate to say, because of how many people have had serious complications and/or died. But, soda doesn't taste good anymore to me. It tastes like dish soap. So, I haven't been drinking it for nearly a year, and I have lost weight. I drank SO MUCH soda. I wasn't super overweight, but I was a bit. So, not gonna lie...it's been nice to be able to kick that soda habit, and that symptom of covid made it very easy.
It has been a huge pleasure to listen to you! Thanks :D
I love what you said about the narrative shifting with the younger generation.
I think part of it is: We didn’t grow up with those drug addled rock stars at their peak, we’re seeing them at their lowest, and can easily make the connection as to how they got there.
I also think that there’s a greater desire in my generation (I’m 18, btw), at least from what I’ve seen, for our idols to be genuinely good people, and that lifestyle does not suggest a kind person, IMO.
Also: The Internet. Stories of these exploits, once they go online, spread like wildfire. Also, the ways to document these events have expanded and gotten better, so it’s not just a rumor that people can glorify, everyone knows it’s true, and has seen the real life damage those events cause.
Just wanted to put that out there.
You're 100% correct. We can see what that lifestyle has done to people like Ozzy, and instead of glorifying such stories, we see them as cautionary tales. You realize that the party isn't all fun and games, there are real consequences for one's health and well-being. And I think it's great that the younger generation expects more from their public figures. When the culture encourages good behavior, and refuses to enable bad behavior, you (hopefully) end up with celebrities who recognize and respect the power of their position, rather than using it for purely selfish purposes. You kids are on the right track, just be patient with us old farts as we try to keep up. 😃
Will do!
🥰
