- Sky News host Sharri Markson says what was seen from Peter Dutton tonight wasn’t a budget reply speech but a “pitch for Australia if he were the prime minister”.
“There have been major policy announcements, including a two-year ban on foreign investors from buying Aussie homes, and slashing immigration levels to just 140,000 a year,” Ms Markson said.
“This is a bold speech and Dutton is unapologetic as he announces controversial and tough measures in housing, immigration, energy and crime.
"Dutton will fight the next election from this platform. He's got 19 seats that he needs to win to get into a majority government. It is a tough ask, he won't get close without a point of difference."

In some areas (mostly first half of the video) yes, in other areas it's a bit concerning. Locking people up for online content is a slippery slope towards government censorship and removal of free speech. I'm sure the examples they give now will make sense (eg terrorist's etc), but the law itself will likely be broad and could apply to much more in the future when it suits them.

What I'd like to see is a new political party that has the potential to win an election. We need someone who has the balls to stand up and start making some tough decisions.
Now, I don't particularly like politicians (most people probably don't) and Dutton at least has had the courage to stand up and make a tough stance.

Nuclear is the way to go, do some more research you will see it has so many benefits, cheapest & safest form of high density energy for 80-100 years. I am fine with coal or fossil fuels but nuclear is the future.

Good reply on housing and energy but we don’t need more laws. We have plenty of laws in Australia. Anyone who wants more laws is a fool.
