  • Helpdesk support back in the day of the middle age. This is a remake of the of the Norwegian version shown The original version was written by Knut Nærum.
    This version is made in BearingPoint Nordics.

    It's been useful for young English learners. We knew the original Norwegian version (excellent!) but this we took as a listening exercise. Thank you very much.

    Yes, the original is better, but kudos to the people who made this version, for making it available to a wider audience.
    The copy is very rarely better than the original. just look at all Hollywood remakes of European movies...

    I think that the fact that the original IS in a foreign (to us) language and subtitled in fact makes the reception and mental processing of the humour even more salient. It's the translation that allows the viewer to really consider how this is a 'common experience' since sub-consciously we are also relating to foreigners who experience this same thing, making the humour 'Universal'. Just a complex view of a simply brilliant satire on how we adapt to change, no matter what or when!! :)

    the norwegian one was way better because, even though i couldn't understand the language, the actors were so good that the expressions on their face and the intonation of their voices made everything hillarious.

      The original version is a lot better, great actors, but you know a lot of Americans are not accustomed to read subtitles; same reason they have missed some great movies and tv shows.

      @@CarlosVargas-dv6ph Subs are not the only reason, American media believes strongly in their own way to do things, sometimes even recording an all new show and thats what caused for example Life on Mars to fail in the USA. Red Dwarf wasnt even on any major networks in USA, Patrick Stewart said he discovered it by accident in a hotel in Europe or Britain, and loved it.

    And the tragedy is nothing has changed. Only thing about the medieval period is tech support didn't ask, 'have you powered it off and on again?'
    Seems to be the first response from our help desk - every time.

      And... do you restart before calling your helpdesk or do you keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results?

      @ Nunya Business - The thing is I actually ran IT Help Desk for 13 years (and I might add with some pride, with a very high satisfaction rate - average 94% satisfaction measured every other month over a 2 year period) so I have a bit more of an understanding than Mr or Mrs Average User. And that to a large degree is the cause of my frustration with the typical 'have you turned it off and on again' response. As far as I am concerned that is the response of a person who really has no idea how to diagnose and resolve a problem. Yes, it might make the current issue go away but it is not a resolution to prevent it happening again.

      Maybe you really did run an IT Helpdesk but it seems you knew very little actual IT. If you did, you would understand why "Yes, it might make the current issue go away but it is not a resolution to prevent it happening again." this is such a useless sentence.
      I've worked in IT with Helpdesks staffed with people who know nothing but think they do because they once knew a bit about MS Word that others didn't know. Lovely people but basically just IT receptionists who rather then fix an amount of issues like this, would just escalate everything to 2nd line (me) without actually gathering information I need (just PC10-03 not working, rather than what is not working about it), meaning I'd spend half my time attending faults I shouldn't have had to and thus keeping me firefighting rather than actually fixing and improving things.
      You also didn't answer his question.
      You sound like a user.

    i've never heard of someone saying "Page" instead of turning a page. Yes I've seen the original Norwegian version, and it was much better, because it felt more "real" and the facial expressions were much more interesting.

    I think the ending ruined it, where the guy looked at the camera and started talknig to the camera instead of the customer. He didn't even look like he was thinking/talking to himself, but definately talking to the camera.

    To be completely honest, the bit at the start... where the guy takes the information down, was dead accurate. You ALWAYS find out who the customer is, what thier name is and if the issue has previously been reported. Otherwise, you dont know who you're helping and you may possibly double-up trouble shooting on an existing issue which only upsets the customer more.

    Altho we commonly think of "book" as meaning the object in front of the monks, a scroll is a "book" too. The word for what this is, if we wish to distinguish it from a scroll, is "codex".

    I prefered the Norwegian version since it showed how dumb the technophobe was...this one seems to poke equal fun at the Help Desk guy, which doesn't seem FAIR! ;)

    Noble as an attempt this is, the dialogue felt forced. And the thing at the beginning where the guy takes information down on the card seemed out of place, really.

    As boring as you've made it with acting that doesn't live up to the original, it's still funnier than most of the US's clean humor. Add a laugh track, and this would win awards.

    For me the Norwegian one, that is the original, was funnier. It has to do with the language and expressions. But like I said before, thats just me.

    I was open to the idea of an english remake for about 20 seconds. Its just no good compared to the original. I also think you shouldnt try to remake sketches like this word for word, its fine if you base a sketch off something or are heavily influenced by a different sketch, but remaking one without doing anything original yourself seems lame to me

    Living proof that American remakes are never as funny as the originals. We've seen it countless times in Hollywood and now they've cocked up a wonderful Norwegian sketch. Idiots. Hate to think what they'll do to the Millenium trilogy, not that that's acomedy. Not yet anyway.

    This really is a let down of the original. Too much adlib, no comedic timing. "Actors" were not very good.

    Load of shit. If something is funny and you want to remake it why write a load of extra stuff in aswell? There's no need. Also this loses credence just for the fact that there was no medieval american accents. If it was to be remade in English then they should have used English actors using an Olde English way of speaking. Think Blackadder!
