      I think I could find much cheaper resorts that would give my plenty of enjoyment and a more down to earth Philippines experience. I don’t think you’ll be getting to enjoy the locals at those expensive resorts.

    The El Nido Resorts are next to Amanpulo in terms of exclusivity, luxury and prices. And a few newer ones in Palawan. Shangri La and Crimson are very nice but are not on private islands, like Amanpulo and El Nido Resorts. Not all villas in Amanpulo are available year round for booking, simply because the resort owners personally own some and they spend time there and allow bookings when they choose not to stay. One villa was for sale a few years ago. Of course, at a very hefty price and the owners had a say on who the lucky buyer is.

    This is the first time I've heard of such in PH. It's interesting to note that the Casita, which derived from the Spanish casa, is little or small but the costs per night??? AAAGGGHHH! Even if I do have that type of resources, I don't think I would spend it on that. High costs do not necessarily mean the best. As to exclusivity, would there be fun and adventure in isolation? And if a people person, can one relate in isolation? The above comments are realistic. The Shangri-La and Boracay are worth it since they are realistic and give options. Thanks Evan for informing.

  • @DarrellGrainger
    @DarrellGrainger Před 2 lety +2

    For me, I go to the Philippines for the scuba diving. Having a basic room and some good food (not great, not fancy) is sufficient. The company I keep and the people are what makes a difference for me. Having a drink after dinner and chatting with the resort manager is my idea of a good vacation. Those small, intimate resorts that give me the feeling of making a new friend are ideal.
    Add to that a pleasant and easy scuba diving experience. I'm not into nightlife. So getting up at 5am for good breakfast and boarding the scuba boat is fine for me. Having the boat crew take care of all my gear, towels, a shaded area and good conversation is a must. Finding great locations with amazing marine life plus adequate time to enjoy myself is a must. Too many people and rushing to finish the trip isn't great. As a professional scuba diver, I can often stay down on one tank and still have plenty of air left. Boredom or decompression limits usually end my dive rather than running out of air. If I'm diving 4 or 5 times a day, every day then Nitrox (or Enriched Air Nitrox; EANx) is a must.
    Places like Atlantis Dive Resorts south of Dumaguete are nice. What is the best place a professional or experienced scuba diver would like in say Sogod Bay, Boracay, Cebu, etc.? I also know a few divers whose girlfriend is NOT a scuba diver. So things for her to do while I'm scuba diving; spa, day trips, shopping?
