Joe sometimes gives the impression that he looks on her as a bit of a "toy-town" dog but, going by the amount of footage she stars in, she could become a regular on camping trips. I hope so.👍😁

Our poodle from my childhood, was a real water dog. Aren’t they sometimes used for hunting fowl?

@@allister.trudel The poodle trim left pompons around the joints and on the tip of the tail, to keep the joints warm and on the tip of the tail to make the dogs more visible. It's not a fru-fru breed, but a great all-round dog breed. I'm thinking she is a mixed breed like a golden doodle, but she's a very pale chocolate color, not dead white in appearance. Such a love. ❤❤❤
Love Beauty! She's not the action danger sort of adventurer but has such a mellow, philosophical appreciation of nature she's a joy to watch. She just chills right into the whole scene, even a great canoe mate, wow. Sweet girl, what a blessing! Nice video Joe 😊

@@lushpaw1 I think she just loves being with Joe. She looks to be part poodle and those are very intelligent, highly trainable dogs and they're water dogs/retrievers. Poodles are not French, they're a German breed--Pudlehund. A water dog/and I can't recall how to spell the German name of the dog.
Having Beauty w/ you is nice. Her calm, chill personality fits w/ the theme of solo camping. It's about finding the peace and harmony w/ nature and it's all good. You do you bro!

Joe, we know you are hurting. Scout was awesome. Tripper was an amazing handful of greatness. But I think Beauty is the perfect balance between the companionship you love and the laid backness you need to heal. Joe, I'm just a stranger on the internet to you, and I want to make sure I'm acknowledging that in what I say because parasocial relationships are a thing.
I've been watching you since the Scout days, since right before you moved north from Sault Ste Marie, so I've gotten to see you interact with a fair number of canine companions over the years. You are an amazing dog dad (and human dad too). I know the loss of Tripper is still weighing you down, and I am grieving with you. I also know that you will be giving your daughter back her dog at some point here, and getting another in time when the time is right someday.
I grew up with a standard poodle much like you did, and I miss him fiercely. Watching you with Beauty, watching the way she vibes around the camp with you, it just made me think, from one poodle lover to another, one would make an excellent canoe companion for you the way you hoped Tripper would. Poodles are super chill, blisteringly smart and fast learners, and willing to work when asked. IMHO they're the perfect dog period, but I'll own that bias lol.
Again, I don't want to seem insensitive in your time of grief, and I've only offered my thoughts because you've shared things openly with us already. We love you, and we're here for you as much as we can be, for internet strangers. 🫂💕

Even though Beauty is not a butch doggo she is super calm well behaved and good company and she sure looked as though she was enjoying it.
Great video Joe! Beauty is a great dog. My Dad used to raise Poodles they are excellent Gun dogs great for flushing out Partridge and Grouse and also great for retrieving Waterfowl, they love the water and have a high prey instinct and were and still are used as primarily a hunting breed before they became known as " fashionable", if I were to have an "outdoor recreational dog" it would be a Poodle.
I might get one, then. My Lab's a sweetie, if somewhat unruly. Maybe a smaller, more chill dog is in order.
You seem to have a very faithful friend with you; it dosen't matter if its a big bad dog attitude; the main thing is, that you and the dog communicate and have a good time. I see that both of these are taking place.
Also its 88 degrees in the daytime and 70 at night here in Alabama; no bugs and more dryer weather to come. We enjoying camping here until it get hot in the summer.

I think Joe will find,if he hasn’t already,that poodles are very intelligent and willing to learn anything Joe wants to teach it. As for bravery, my little 4lb-11oz solid white toy poodle,backed down a 40-50 lb Bulldog,that could have probably killed it with one bite. His name was Cody Boy,and he certainly lived up to it.I had him for 17&1/2 years and have missed him every day for the 3 years he has been gone.

My daughter and I were watching your you tube this week. she said "mommy, look beauty she is so fluffy and cute." She was even playing peek-a-boo with you and Beauty was so cute. Your inspiring little minds. She even said "Can we get a puppy mommy and go camping?" Beauty looks really comfortable as a camping animal with you even if she is fluffy and white. enjoyed the update on your adventure. Fun to watch never a dull moment. we can't wait to see what's next.

@@marjorieshaver4370 I've thought of that alot! I like medium to big dogs an it hurts so bad to comb them an give them a bath. I didnt have to comb the last 2 cuz i got short hair dogs. My boxer (got 2 boxers given to me free. My brothers neighbor died so i took him an some people didn't want their's so i took it) was allergic to flea medicine so i gave him a bath every week. Then i was trying to carry a 40lb bag of food an almost passed out. Thought I was going to have a heart attack. I live at poverty level to so i have a hard time with med. an vet bills too. They both died of cancer. The last one couldn't eat his food anymore so i cooked him chicken and rice for a year an had to wash his bedding every day. It's just to much. If someone gives me one i would take it or if a stray came to my house. I been talking to my cat an training him things. I didn't know you could train cats things. I have to keep him on a leash when we go outside because my neighbor catches them and twists a clothes hanger around thier tails an hangs them somewhere. He does the same with raccoons. He had my 16 yr. Old for a month an she didn't hardly have any fur left an weight almost nothing an had cuts all over an her back was sunk down. Started in 2016 an took me along time to figure out what was going on. He poisons too sometime. It's very nerve wracking! When my dog died i went an bought a shotgun because Im a girl an he's big. @@chrisblack8390 I've taught our little cat to sit for treats and also to, "Sit pretty," Which is like a begging position for a dog, but you try to tell a cat to beg and it will look at you as if to say, "You gotta be kiddin' me!!!" Two things excite our cat--When I ask her if she wants to play, she goes nuts and meows all over the place with excitement. I have a catterpillar-looking thing at the end of a telescoping fishing rod sort of thing and it gives her a workout. She also comes alive when we ask her if she wants her snack, which is given to her late at night. I'm not a cat person, but we took her in when she was very little because the feral cats would intimidate her and take the food we were feeding her. I love animals, too.

@@mawmawvee my cat is 18 or 20 lbs. He gets pretty wild when i play with him and goes for my feet. So i quit playing with him. He's smart too an knows alot of words. But hes sure not a dog! I met a 100 lb. Sheep dog last weekend when I was visiting my parents at the old folks home. He's got a golf cart called Jethros ride an his owner drives him around visiting the old people. What a beautiful dog! I had fun meeting him.

I love seeing Beauty, having a poodle mix myself, they are excellent companions in the outdoors, usually very calm and well mannered around camp but plenty of stamina to keep up on long trips. Their coats are good in the water and rain, help insulate them in the cold. People forget they were and certain lines still are, great gun dogs, thus great outdoor companions. It’s actually refreshing to see one on an outdoors/bushcraft etc channel!

Now there is the Joe We all love. Creating Fire from a Bow Drill, A shelter with just a tarp. The Bush Craft Basics! I have followed you since the early Scout Days (God rest his soul). Beauty may not be the "Macho" dog of the forest but, she rides a canoe well, lets you fish, is loyal, stays around camp, is happy to lay on your sleeping bag while you do your thing, Loves laying beside a campfire, And, she is a beautiful lady that your aren't going to loose track of in the forest with that white coat. My Grand-dog is a Golden Doodle, not the type of pup I grew up with but, these new dog breeds have purpose and personality. Could be the start of something special. Anyway challenge yourself with the bush craft and outdoor adventures. It is what we love. Someday... you will catch the motherload of fish and we will all celebrate and cheer! Beauty is so taut as the strings of a bow. Was she a rescued dog that came from an abusive home? Her whole demeanor is so sad. Please give her lots of love and be patient with her. Remember she's like Tripper , they'll never be Scout and will have their own beautiful and unique personalities. I love the way she relaxed sitting in the canoe/boat looking out over the water.
