  • Today we break down how a rzr blow-off valve works and how to adjust it if you have a adjustable valve. We run the RPM Powersports valve which uses adjustable springs to fine tune your BOV!

    Your exactly right!!! I have a 2022 pro xp I bought all rpm tubes and their blow off valve which is this one your using in this video. I left this spring that comes in it which is the soft spring and I went riding all weekend and the entire time as I was cruising the trails I could hear the blow off valve air noise entire time and by Sunday I ended up getting check engine light code which was something about boost pressure not sure if it was caused fron this or not but today im going to switch out the springs

      I would swap one spring size up, I have been messing with it more recently and I’m testing something from RPM and I have the lightest spring in it and if I’m not on the gas it’s constantly hissing so I’m going to fine tune this new one. I actually tried the stiffest one once and it wouldn’t blow off at all and I got some turbo flutter so definitely want to make sure it’s dialed in. I did notice at higher elevation when we went to Colorado, it doesn’t build as much boost so the blow off valve doesn’t blow off as much so you also might consider what elevation you’re at!

    The BOV is regulated by vacuum or boost which e er is greater. The spring is to keep it closed when it's not running and to assist the boost pressure to help close it. When vacuum is high it will open the BOV slightly. At low rpm the engine doesn't need the boost to run and that helps with fuel consumption. When you punch it the boost pressurizes the system thru the vacuum line to push the bov closed. When you let off the system goes from boost to vacuum which then opens the BOV. your hearing that hiss all because it doesn't need boost at that RPM. It's all for fuel conservation. Your gonna start noticing your burning more fuel now that your introducing boost earlier to the system.

      That’s a awesome breakdown! I haven’t really noticed much of a difference on fuel consumption but I don’t track it either, I just fill it up and go! But thank you for further explaining that all, makes a lot of sense!

    hi man , this is what i heard that while your crusing on your sxs lets say going constant 35mph or 40mph or 45mph but constant like when your driving on the street the bov will let air out to keep away that hot air from the turbo because your not making any boost you will kind of hear like a whoosh sound like vacuum but thats 100% normal your not sucking any air or dirt to your precious engine.
    one thing to be concern about is when as soon as you get into boost you should only hear the turbo making boost and the bov completly shut or close but as soon as you let off the gas the air coming out should be a fast expulsion of air with a high pitch sound never ever should you hear a leak of air while on boost that only results in loss of power.
    so in conclusion you should be ok if you hear a sound like vaccum while crusing at a constant speed. if you dont like that put the heavier spring but the tone and pitch will change.

      The idea of the vacuum makes total sense, thanks for the comment! I might mess around with the springs a little more and see how it changes the sound. Thanks again!

      Interesting. I haven’t gotten any codes and I just switched my entire setup and still nothing. It looks like it’s an over boost code. Maybe check all the fittings and make sure the valve is in correctly?

    • @SchmidtysOffroad
      @SchmidtysOffroad  Před rokem

      I’m not familiar with the Trinity one but does it remove the hose that goes from the BOV and connect to the intake tube on the air box? If it removes that it should be making noise unless you maybe have the wrong port of the BOV connected to your charge tube. Those would be the two things I look at!

    That helped, but I can't find video on trinity blow off valve, mine don't seem to do anything .I have a trinity charge tube, I bought the j tube, they sent wrong one, any input on adjusting my valve

    • @SchmidtysOffroad
      @SchmidtysOffroad  Před rokem

      Do you have RPM charge tubes and J-tube or are they both trinity? I haven’t looked too in depth on the trinity BOV but they might not have much adjustability. And honestly, the adjustability won’t effect performance at all, it’s going to effect the sound more. I actually just tried a stiffer spring in mine and it wouldn’t even blow off the pressure so I quickly put a lighter spring in it. Not sure if that’ll help much but if you have anything RPM and they sent the wrong stuff they will work with you 100% to make sure you get the right product!

      @@rodneysanborn3183 ahh I see, if you have a Pro XP I wonder if they sent the xp turbo j tube, they are just a little different I don’t really know why though. I would just start all the way loose with the BOV and adjust it from there but if you have it recirculating back to the intake I wouldn’t mess with it much.

    • @SchmidtysOffroad
      @SchmidtysOffroad  Před 2 lety +1

      I like it but it is loud. It’s interesting though because certain RPM ranges it’s not bad and then some it gets up there pretty good. I might be switching it up for our Colorado trip since they are a little strict on exhausts but other than that I have liked it! If I was only racing I think it would be perfect but if you do more recreational riding, the electric cutout would be nice so you can switch between loud and quiet.

    • @SchmidtysOffroad
      @SchmidtysOffroad  Před 2 lety

      I’m not 100% sure if it would fix that code. I believe that is the overboost/underboost code and just doing a quick Google search people are saying it could be caused by a dirty air filter, maybe needs a wastegate adjustment, or possibly the boost controller is not working right. I have seen some people say that a aftermarket BOV has fixed their issue but I am not certain if that fixes it 100% of the time.
