- In this video, I use white Premo Clay and Pan Pastels to make a pretty little ring dish. I used a glass candle holder as a form, a large round cutter, a 2 1/4" and a 1 1/4" round cutter A dotting tool with two different sized tips, Translucent Liquid Sculpey, clay blade, make-up sponge and varnish of your choice.

Thanks. Great instructional video!
Such a *lovely* project and you make it seem so simple, answering any questions as you go along. I just love the whimsical and random effect of all those dots. You're a wealth of useful information and such an amazing, encouraging teacher. These are sooo pretty ... can't wait to try my hand at them. Thank you!!
I love these, how pretty! Thank you for showing how to do it!😊

Still love these! I have been making several ring dishes.....a bit addictive! I like how you make the bottoms! I have done a couple of different ways for my bottoms. So fun to play! Great gifts!
Yes they are J, I love making them too!
Thank you for such a wonderful, detailed tutorial! Those ring dishes are lovely. I'm inspired to make some of my own.
Thanks Ashley, glad you like them!
Love these, Patricia! So delicate and just cute! I never want your videos to end! Thank you for always being willing to share your wonderful ideas and gifts with all of us. So very much appreciated!❤️
Thank you, I'm so glad for all the support you and so many others has shown me!

Love these!
Great Tutorial again, love the colours you have used. Thanks again for sharing
Thanks Lindy
Very pretty and those make great little gifts.
Wonderful! I was wanting to try this. I think the dark one you didn't care for reminds me of carnival glass. I'm an antique dealer so I love that one!
Thanks Wanda!
Thanks for your reply and hi from Scotland
What a nice project, I think I'll make a few as gifts. Thanks for sharing, your instructions were very clear,
Thanks Gloria, glad you like it!
I really like the flower napkin one it's very pretty. The smaller round ones are perfect for lots of small items. I am excited to do both types. Thanks for sharing your great ideals with us.
Thanks Ennis
Iv been uding triple thick varnish n i just slap it on n iv never had any brush strokes, it might be worth a try, i got it from amazon, great video thank you👍
Beautiful.
Love your videos -so easy to follow and full of useful tips. Thank you 😊
Thanks Jane
fantastic love them all thank you for sharing
Thank you!
Lovely tutorial, Patricia. I imagine they would also make great coasters. I love the bracelet as well and hope you do a bunch more jewelry projects. Would love to see some of your birds as well. I blame Alfred Hitchcock for my fear of birds, so wooden ones would be lovely to see...no screaming on my part.
Thank you Petrina Clay, maybe someday I will do a compilation of my past works. I still have a few of my birds. I had to stop carving after developing a bad case of Carpel tunnel
hi I jumped in with a question before I'd watched the whole video. I'm always doing that lol.
I'm definitely going to be making some of these. xx
Thanks Tracey, enjoy making your little dishes!
Beautiful 👍🏻
I'm going to try this later to day. Great idea thanks
Thanks Chloe, have fun!
I'm a new subscriber and so glad I found you! I love your work, so very beautiful! I love your bracelet too!!
Thanks you, and thanks for subscribing!
These would look awesome with a galaxy theme in the colors ;)
Yes, they would! Thank you Sabina
это просто бесподобно!!!! спасибо!!!
Thank you Anna!
Another great tutorial ! Thank you. I just have to share - I love & use Inka Gold a lot. Some of them caught mold and it is said touching the paste in a jar with your finger can contaminate it, even if I use baby wipes for my hands. Now I use spatula to smear some paste on my craft mat and only then my finger. In my case - better careful than sorry again.
Thank you Margot, yes I am aware that Inka Gold can mold, I guess I've been fortunate, in four years they never did.
Very pretty bowls.
Thanks Mary!
Love this Pat! ❤️. Now to find a form.
And thank you.
Thanks Jane
Another wonderful detailed and fabulous quality video. You are a rock star! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I have one question about the pan pastels, are they powders or wet cakes? I don't have them, but I do have the Inka Gold series. You know me, I'm a sparkle girl. :)
Love, Chase
Thanks Chase, Pan Pastels are a high quality powdered chalk pastel. They go on the clay very smoothly- almost creamy, but they aren't a cream. I love my Inca Golds too- I'm a bling girl most of the time!
Love them and great idea for presents. May be a stupid question but i wondered if u cud put a candle in the middle provided it was in a little glass.
Thanks Louise, yes, if the candle flame doesn't touch the polymer clay, it's just fine :)
i love it
Thanks Debora
I’m new to polymer clay, do you paint the pan pastels with a wet makeup sponge or use the colors dry?
Love! I'm so inspired to start working with clay after watching your videos. In fact, I'm buying up a few items from Amazon to get started and will start out making these trinket/ring dishes before I move into the dragon's eyes. Please let me know the brand/type of pasta machine you use.
Thank you! I have an Atlas pasta machine- very good machine!
I love these little ring bowls. Maybe I missed it, but how deeply do you make the little holes?
I appreciate your detailed instructions.
God bless you
Also a new subscriber 😊
Thanks Ann, you really only have to dimple the clay, you could do a small practice piece ( makes a nice earring pattern ) Thanks for subscribing!
Thank you so much, Patricia, for sharing your experience with us. You are a GREAT teacher, and we appreciate your thoughtfulness to help us learn. I would like to know if Deco Art pan powders work as well as Inka powders? Do you know? I have the Deco Art Gold Metalic Lustre that I would love to try on these bowls, but I'm not sure it would work on clay permanently. Thank you!
Thanks Joanie, I have the gold Deco Art Metallic Lustre, and I use it interchangeably with Inca gold. It's all good on clay
Thank you so much! :-)
hi. these are gorgeous. I don't have any pastels but I have inca gold and mica powders.
I was wondering if the Inca goes on before or after baking please. xx
Thanks Tracey, you can do it either way, but if you put it on before baking, it's much more permanent. Inca Gold bonds really well to raw clay
These are beautiful! I am just starting to use clay! Will you or have you made a video tutorial with the paper Napkins? I am very interested in that method.
Thanks Linda, yes, I did make a video on Napkin Transfers czcams.com/video/cjwFJ2ZxpgM/video.html
Patricia Roberts-Thompson thank you so much.
very pretty. I have a question though. I haven't tried the napkin transfer yet so I'm not familiar with it but I'm curious as to why it would be difficult since the clay is flat until you put it onto the dish?
Thanks Missi, the problem with the napkin, is that it doesn't stick too well to the clay, and it lifts when it's moved. So as soon as you put it into your curved form, it want's to detach, and has to be burnished again, but now it's a flat sheet not wanting to conform to a concave shape. Shallow shapes are okay though, it can be done
Wooow so nice
Thank you!
Can you use the same sponging technique with acrylic paints?
Soooo Pretty! What kind of gloss did you use for the pink and orange one?
Ciara Jones Thank you, I used Kato liquid clay with a heat gun for the finish of my dish.
@@patriciaroberts-thompson Thank you
So pretty ! Where did you find the glass candle holders ? TFS !!!
Mine came from a gift shop, but you can find shallow candle holders all over- check out the dollar stores!
What are the pastels?.like micas???
i really would like to try pan pastel :( i hope one day to have the possibility to buy them....if i can i give you a suggestion for using inka gold: don't use directly fingers. Use them with gloves. I've seen some articles that talks about bacteria that spread on them (and mold start growing on them) and ruin the product because used like the way you do. Hope to help :)
Thanks Serena, yes I heard that too. I've been using them like this for years though- so far so good!
ok :D fantastic...i love the colours of inka gold...but not that they are watersoluble...the first time i used i didn't know and they have gone away with the varnish :( the only thing to do is really put them on unbaked clay and cure them like with powders. i really prefer turpentine soluble waxes, they are better :D
I love your bracelet. Do you have a tutorial for it?
I'm working on it- there are a few issues that need to be solved first, Right now, it's not easy :)
What kind of clay and brand do you use?
I don’t understand the index card, can you explain why you use that instead of parchment paper?
Hi Patricia
Can I burn a candle straight onto the clay surface.
I believe it is not recommended, only because if the flame touches the candle, it will burn the clay. To be safe, put the candle in a small glass votive or use a tea-light candle
what a great way to do these! What is a good price to sell these for?
Thanks Marie, I really can't say what would be a good price- it's such a regional thing- some areas are more supportive of artists, some less. I am the worst salesperson ever!
yes, and I always hate to ask about price. I am the worse at attaching a value. Thanks for all the ideas you share! you are one of my favorite artists ❤
now I have to find some candle holders :)
At least, they are easy to find!
My only issue with Inka Gold is that it dries too fast for me to use my fingers. Might be because I have hot hands... I like the idea of using the pan pastels, but I'm also thinking about mica shift...
Every time i use my Inca Golds, I give them a small spray of water, when I'm finished with them. That way they are nice and fresh for next time. This little dish, is just perfect for all kinds of techniques, Mica Shift would be lovely!
I meant that they dry in clumps on my fingers, as I'm using them. So far they haven't dried out in the jars! Still smooth and creamy until they touch my fingers.
You can apply them with a makeup sponge too- might solve that problem
Hi, what other color medium i can use for the clay? Thanks.
There are so many things you could use, acrylic paints, any pastels, pastes such as Inca Gold, Guilders Paste, ArtC paste Rub'n'buff, really too many to mention them all. Use your favourite medium :)
thank you.
Mine gets stuck to the glass dish. How can I prevent it?
What is TLF mean?
They look like Petri dishes LOL
