  • MPN Hero Ed Bartholemy’s caregiving journey with myelofibrosis (MF) began
in 1983 when Nancy, the love of his life, told him she had been diagnosed with
MF, a rare, chronic blood cancer. The condition is one of a group of diseases
called myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). After 20 years, Nancy’s MF had
progressed to the point where Ed quit his job to take care of her full time. By
2021, she and her Healthcare Professionals decided that a stem cell transplant
was her best course of action. During Nancy’s transplant experience, Ed posted
heartfelt details of her challenges and triumphs on a patient health journey
website. As a strong believer in giving back, Ed now serves on the MPN
Research Foundation Board of Directors so he can encourage innovative MPN
research that may benefit the entire MPN community.
