As a Jew, this is actually one of my favorite songs. This is something that must never be forgotten, and I praise Sabaton for taking on the subject. Whenever this song comes on my playlists, I never change it - it's heavy, emotional, and sobering.
I just saw Sabaton here in St Petersburg, FL, and I was a little dismayed that they didn't play it, but I understand why. If you ever have a chance to see their show, don't pass it up - it's an energy-filled thrill ride.
For the record, my favorite Sabaton song is Resist and Bite - which they DID play, and it was amazing! You should do that one :) Or Screaming Eagles!

This is why we must never censor nazi imagery or any "bad" history of any kind. It's why we can't allow certain political forces to remove statues or artwork because it may "offend". If we start doing that we eventually relegate those events to myth and worse people than us can eventually claim it never happened and use the lack of documented history as propaganda for their own cause, and those mistakes will be made all over again.
Due to entropy of time, history only exists in our memories. Once a moment has passed it'll never come back. Memories and documented history are there to teach us and people who come after us. History exists so we can learn from it.
Censoring history because it may be uncomfortable is an extremely dangerous thing.

This song was meant to hurt. You can almost hear Joakim about to cry in the pre-chorus. This pain is a good thing for the listeners, as people are more able to remember pain than happiness. The song isn't meant to be enjoyed. It's to be endured. That's how I see it, anyway. I've only intentionally listened to it three times now, the third being your video. I check Sabaton playlists for this song, so I can skip it. Not because it's a bad song, but because it's one that makes me stop whatever I'm doing and listen. And think. And know that that kind of evil is so easy to unleash again, and that there are monsters among us that would be all too happy to do so.
The subject matter- no. I'll not whitewash it. The Holocaust is a condemnation against all humanity, and this song is a reminder of of a failure that *must* haunt us for as long a humankind exists. This song forces us to remember that. We can not let freedom burn again. Never again. No matter the cost.

Was it a crime yea but did so called good nations never do anything like it? Like operation Carpet. Or Russians killing 10k Polish officers or 2 nuklear bombs on Japan yea all non rememberd not talked about. I am no pro Nazi or am I defending them but people forget that we are ruled by these kind of morons and idiots even today. Trump and off you go Russian dude and so on. Now a guy in Belorussia is called dictator and our democracies putting police our on us for this so called virus. So basically you have no freedom now. This tipe of songs are imperativ to be heard in times to remember us in what world we live in. But I guess Americans live in perfect world acting like warmongers and blaming entire planet for their stupidity. America was in more wars then any outher nation in this world after it got its independence. But yea Hollocaus is bad and German people will suffer for crimes they did. I have a question when will UK pay its dues for operation Carpet when will USA pay Japan for 2 nuklear bombs. When will UK and France take a blow and say the truth about who started the WW2. But yea not going to happen beacuse winners wright history we are thought. I also would like to USA come out and say why it was attacked in PH and so on. There is a lot to be talked about and facts and information that people dont know. This song is just that dont let this happn again and it is happening all around the world

I suffer through it. It's one of my favorite pieces, because i makes me cry. I've probably heard it a hundred times now, and every time, sober or otherwise, i tear up. It has that sort of emotional weight that few songs carry, and reminds me what we've gone through, what we've done and what we have to atone for.
The time The Final Solution stops making me cry is the moment i know my soul is dead and gone.

@@rtwiceorb770 As much as the UK and France were wrong for what they did between 1918 and 1939 to the German people, they did not start the war. Did they join of their own free will? Yes. Did Poland? No. They had agreed to protect Poland, and so they did. Chamberlain is mostly to blame for Hitler not being nipped in the bud. Appeasement just let him gain more power, and they should have intervened when Hitler seized power as an absolute dictator. All of this we know with hindsight, and that doesn't excuse their failings. However, I take offense to the idea that Freedom today is gone. Is it in danger? Yes. In the US we're seeing a repeat of the great question : can Federal authority overrule state authority? The answer last time was yes, and this time it will be yes again. Last time resulted in the emancipation of slaves, this time will result in the emancipation of Police officers and the disconnection of law enforcement from local lawmakers. The very idea of a mayor telling the police not to shut down rioting is so un-American that hell must be paid. There will be justice, either through a system that's stood for centuries, or at the end of a gun's barrel.

Even the band realized this song is too heavy to play live, given the subject matter, and stopped doing that for a while. I can't fault the band for making it like this, though. This was still relatively early in their career, and their writing has become much better since then.

    Hello. German here.
As someone who has had the Holocaust pretty extensively during my school time and me being also a big history nerd and enthusiats. This song is a very mixed feel.
Like. The overall vibe, the instrumentals and especially the synths in this song are just super good. Very high quality and a very complicated, controverial, yet needed matter to talk/sing/discuss about. The synths in this song are just...They convey perfectly the despair and agony so many people had to endure. The refrain gives me goosebumps. Why... Because its spine-chilling that something like that happened and the heavy feel of the refrain (+the instrumentals) supports this feel almost perfectly. Especially the non-instrumental chorus...Just so, so heavy its almost unbearable. Joakim did also a great job at conveying the feel of millions in his voice. Its not energetic as we are used to. Its not hyped up. Its as if he had a clump in his throat and almsot starts to cry
I like this song, but for different reasons than I enjoy *any* other song. Controversial topics (especially linked so close to my country) are important to talk and sing about. And Im glad Sabaton did make a song about it. We should always remind ourselfes about our history. To deny anyone stupid enough to try and repeat it. To prevent another genocide.
If I had to desribe the feel of the song I would need you to go to the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin (the thick concrete blocks). The atmosphere is eerie, spine-chilling and very, *very* thick. Very unpleasant and you want to leave it when you are standing in it.
If you have the chance to visit it. You should. Because its a experience notexperienced anywhere else, except concentration camps themselfes.
This song is special. I like it, but dont enjoy it. I sing to it, but dont rock to it. They made a really good track for this matter and it captures what you experience when its being talked about.
Theres no shame in liking this song. The intrumentals are just onpoint and Joakim did a great performance. But its very ok if you dont want to listen to it. I for one. Will keep listening to it.
To remind me to help against evils like Hitler and to remind to resist against such things.

In the same category are Gallipoli and Fields of Verdun (when you watch the video, just the song isn't quite that heartbreaking). To the song - it's true that Sabaton don't play this song live anymore, the theme is too intense to see thousands rock to it and have fun.
BUT - it's one of the few bands that takes care of this sad past and turns it into lyrics. And they do this in a very direct language. I'm German myself and I still can't understand how this could happen. It's good that they took up this theme and brought it to the public in this way - but it's a song that's meant for the home and not for festivals. Historical note: it didn't start with Kristallnacht - by them, thousands of my fellow Disabled people had been exterminated in "hospitals". They were the test subjects for the Final Solution. Nobody seems to remember them. We were the "Untermensch", the "useless eaters" outlined in propaganda designed to get families with Disabled relatives to give them up - and it worked. The SS had to turn away applications from doctors eager to "help". 😢
    And Basingstoke is pronounced "bay-zing-stoke".

So, I don't know either of you, saw the tattoo on your right arm and said, "Welp, this'll be an interesting reaction." I completely agree with the two of you. This song serves as a reminder, as a caution and a warning. I feel like Sabaton does a really good job of the material, even in the composition of the song. Sabaton almost never does a purely vocal fade-out like they do in this song, and they usually reserve it for songs like this.
Thank you for the excellent analysis, even though it was obviously incredibly emotional for you.

Joakim's biggest fear, headbanging to "The Final Solution"
Amazing reaction, but please no headbanging to this song.
It is about the holocaust a really sad memorial song of theirs, my granddad on dad's side lost all his brothers and sisters in the holocaust. He himself managed to survive by hiding.
My other grandparents were young children too back then. (Around my little brother's age, 9 to 14, my little bro is 12) I am 16 and this song is for sure one I will bring towards the future generations.
May we never forget the horrors of WW2, I am going to ask my grandparents for stories of the war once this crisis is finally over!

They also don't play it live as much because it's a bit of a mood killer, and it is probably their most controversial song ever recorded

I know it's hard to continue listening to songs that tell a terrible story, but that's the purpose of Sabaton. I know by now you probably know that the purpose of their group is to tell a story. The Final Solution was a horrible even that the Nazi's were responsible for, and hopefully it won't ever happen again. This one song was probably really hard for them to play as well. I agree with you, the first time I heard it, I was a little uncomfortable, and I felt upset at what happened to those millions of people some 80 years ago. We will never forget them.
