      @@korvkioskshelvete That doesn't change the fact that nationalism has NO place on this modern world.
      At the end of the day, nationalism is being proud of something you didn't even have any control of (being born). I see no reason to be proud of the nation I just happened to be born in.
      In the end, I am part of the human race, and that is the only thing that matters.
      Nation states is a concept that is in my opinion, pretty silly and only serves to further divide humanity.

    We get a lot of this History in school as kids here in the Netherlands. You did this reaction on the right day for us, we remember the fallen on 4th of may and celebrate liberation day on the 5th. Lots of documentaries and movies about ww2 these days on tv, and yesterday we listened to speeches of survivors. I also watched Schindler’s List in school when I was 12 or something, and we visited a concentration camp when I was 15 or 16. Left us teenagers quite speechless.

    • @hallqvist77
      @hallqvist77 Před 3 lety +1

      Here in Sweden the kids start learning about ww2 really early, my 11 year old twins have already learned a good portion of it in school. They will read about it even more in highschool, terrible subject but so important to learn, it should never be forgotten! In my school days, in highschool(ouff, way to long time ago when I think about it)we had several holocaust survivoiurs come to our school to speak to the whole school about their horrible experiences. I don't know if it's that usual nowadays, since it's long ago now since ww2 took place,many have passed on, but I know that it was a guy that visited my eldest sons school(he's 23 y/o now) when he went to highschool anyway. People can be so cruel to eachother, it's sickening, unfortunately I'm embarrased of the human race more often than I would like, thanks to certain behaviour that still goes on to these days(ex in Norh Korea etc). Some people can't handle power and shoulden't even be in charge or decide of the life of an ant or a wasp and absolutely not over human beings. Take power, money, crazieness and put them together= leathal mix, sad but true...
      Anyway, Have a nice day!

And i know many fellow Germans who feel the same, that's the reason why there is almost no public pride in Germany. And people like Sabaton are important to help the world remember what happened and to learn from the past. At least i hope mankind learned from it.

    As a middle aged white guy, this topic, and the song... never fails to bring me to tears. I have visited Auschwitz-Birkeneau, and it is a sombre, heavy place. It was part of a group tour, and there were folks who opted out. I lost respect for those people, because while it is 'unpleasant', what happened there NEEDS to be observed and remembered, by everyone.

    I wasn't sure if I could watch the history part all the way through again since I've seen it a few times already and it's just as hard everytime. But I managed to get through it and I'm glad I did. I think that the harder a topic is to stomach, the more uncomfortable it makes us feel, the more important it is for us to remember it. And not sweep it under the rug and "forget" about it because it's painful or shameful. I agree with you, many people who get upset about Sabaton telling this story are the same people who would rather write it out of the history books all together, no matter which ever excuse they decide to make for being offended by the song.

    I absolutely love what Sabaton does and sings about, all historical moments in human history weather its good or very bad must never be forgotten. Children should be taught these subjects at school so they learn never to do real evil demonic things like the Holocaust, Slavery, racism to all races etc etc ever. My best mate's dad was in the British Army during WW2, where his company found a concentration camp it might be Auschwitz. The things he saw and had to do like bury the bodies of all ages and sexes really affected him till the day he died. Some of his stories about things that he did and saw was absolutely horrific. He Was in the Glasgow Highlanders Regiment. He was like a second dad to me and I miss him, he was a British Hero. British Sabaton Fan 💂‍♂️💂‍♂️💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇸🇪🇸🇪🇮🇱

    As far as your remark about nobody knowing, there were many people in the British and American governments who knew. A brave Polish former soldier got into Auschwitz as a prisoner and was able to smuggle out photographs and descriptions of what went on there. And we have learned nothing. There have been horrible holocausts since the Final Solution. Until we learn that we are all brothers and sisters under this sun, and that we should never persecute others for their race, religion, or anything that is different from us, we are doomed to repeat this over and over.

    It's a odd issue that some German units came to the camps for rest and or to recoup or wait for transportation to other area's but extensive care was taken to keep the daily routine out of sight out of mind away from them the only "inmates" they saw was one's held for work details and the 1 time the soldier's who where at auschwitz moving through actually attempted a attack on the camp resulting in there executions in front of the prisoner's letting the prisoner's know no one was coming this was the end of the road for them
    Edit: the one time soldier's actually saw what was happening they went of and attempted a minor assault but none where in a condition to mount such a move and where all executed for the attempt

    The worst part is that antisemitism didn't end after 1945 and has been in our history books for a very long time as a species in general. Yes the final solution was the darkest chapter when it comes to antisemitism but anno 2022 it is still a huge problem and still exists. The second worst part is that a lot of people tend to forget these days that antisemitism wasn't only an issue in Germany but worldwide during the 1930's-1940's. There were plenty of antisemistic rallies worldwide during this period of our history. If you google for 5 minutes you find anti semitic posters of rallies that were held all over the world in this timeframe of our history, one of the more famous ones is a rally at Madison Square Garden in 1939 in New York and believe it or not the Garden was packed that day. If i look at humanity anno 2022 and how humanity is acting i think to myself "Yep, history repeats itself" because we are in a very messed up place as a "Western" society with all the BS that has been happening on the world stage the last few years...

    Really great reaction to this! Very important matter! You wanna know a scary thing?! The racial "science" began in Sweden in the early 1900:s... German scientists brought it to Germany and the nazis used it as an excuse for their politics... We all know the rest. But what people outside Sweden don't know, is that the "science" continued in Sweden for years after WW2! Most of the victims for this "science" were our native population, the Sami people. (The theaft of their lands are not over yet). What was the resault of the "science"? NOTHING!!

    Something else awful about the method of death; studies with people with malfunctioning or non-existent amygdalae (the part of the brain primarily responsible for your fear and aggression responses) that they won't feel fear of any kind.. except for one kind. Asphyxiation. While the subject(s) weren't actually choked or anything, they were given injections of a gas meant to signal to the body some kind of choking was occurring, and even with a malfunctioning/non-existent amygdala, the patient still exhibited a strong fear response. Fear of choking is so ingrained in us that even with the removal of the primary fear center of the brain, people will still fear being choked to death. I recommend watching Vsauce's CZcams Original on the subject if you're interested.
