  • Learning how to paint fire in all shapes and sizes doesn't have to be complicated!
    I've put together a tutorial series of how to draw or paint fire both in more realistic AND stylized ways. This whole series takes place in photoshop BUT all I'm teaching is the TECHNIQUES meaning you can do these in any program you like; kryta, procreate, clip studio, etc...
    We start from the smallest flames like candle flames or small fire spells and work our way up to large fire tornadoes and bonfires. Each size will have two tutorials, one focusing on painting in a more realistic way and the other focusing on drawing the fire in a stylized way for anime or a video game.

    I like those rules, "shapes inside shapes" and "don't be boring", so I was thinking, what if I want to draw this flames in a different color? like blue or green or even purple... what color should I use inside? maybe for the blue flame a cyan is good, but for the other colors...
    Is there a rule or something like that to help me draw flames of any color and not look weird?

    • @Gammatrap
      @Gammatrap  Před 3 lety +38

      For stylized flame its best to make the inner color just be a more vibrant and lighter version of the outer color. You can totally experiment and play around with it of course, but that should start you off :)

    This was exactly what I was looking for! So easy to follow along and I really understood how to make fire look like, well, fire but to keep that anime/video games look that I wanted! I reaaaally hope you're gonna do more of these! I really wanted to draw splashing water and like water powers and I couldn't find anything good enough to help so it would be awesome to see if you feel like making more of these tutorials!

    Me attempting these with a pencil has been interesting. Had to make adjustments for not having a brush tool editor. Doing shapes within shapes was really hard without a fill tool or large brush stroke, so I just traced the outlines by eye.
