Injuries do hurt, but not being able to do what you love hurts the most.
I know, but the mother has a good reason to be worried. Some injuries can be severe enough to cause life-long problems. I agree that kids should be allowed to explore their interests, but I also understand why parents may be hesitant.

My son played soccer. Got injuries too. But he decided to quit and is now playing football and he is in highschool. He is big and tall. So I enrolled him in a gym where they also teach moves on how to prevent injuries. He plays defense/offense. Every game we pray for his safety and protection. Mama bear supports what he wants. ❤

Yeah but football increases those chances tenfold. It’s not about physicality, it’s about running full speed into each others heads. Wrestling is pretty much less dangerous (serious dangers not like twists and sprains). That’s insane. Basically a combat sport is less dangerous.

My husband played the same amount of time . He though didn’t want to play anymore because his mom past away his freshman year. In soccer the only way u can really get injured is by headers or slide tackles. Since i didnt dont watch much soccer, i did my research on the topic and found that football injuries are much much much severe than soccer injuries. Just look at messi. Hes like 5"3 120lbs and is able to play soccer. In football he would literally die, no exaggeration. I played both and i can tell u football is much more punishing than soccer. I suffered from nearly 5 concussions, broken tibia, and about 6 broken fingers over the span of 6 years of football. In soccer i sprained my ankle like 3 times. Thats it. Theres a reason why all the small kids play soccer and big kids play football.

I grew up playing football and I can tell you I have got alot of injuries within 6 years. I have had 3 concussions, I have been stomped on my neck and caused me to not be able to move my head to the right for about 2 months, I have had 2 sprained ankles and bruised testicles from a helmet to the no no area ahaha, all before my senior year of highschool. I can honestly say if my child begged to play I'll still let my child but I will definitely tell my child of the injuries to me and what the worst could happen so they know.

this kid at my high school died a few months ago from playing football. his name was Carlos Strong. i personally didn't know him, but i had friends who did and ive seen him around. good guy. its a shame what happened to him, he was too young. i stopped playing after that. i realized that the football industry is extremely corrupt. Carlos told the coach his head hurt and he didn't want to play, but his coach didn't care and sent him back on the filed anyway, needless to say after one more small hit he was out cold and pronounced dead at the hospital he was a sophomore and didn't deserve what happened to him, not at that age. be smart,dont support football, this stuff happens everyday. Football is undoubtably the most dangerous sport for men (minus maybe gymnastics and cheerleading) so I understand the reservation. That being said, it’s incredibly rare for a high school injury to be a lifelong problem

But now as a father, i can relate.
I know what he feels. I’m always getting called “too small to play football” just because I’m not that tall and I’m skinny. I’ve never been more interested in a sport than football, it’s so sad when you find out people are making fun of you for playing a sport that ur not fit for. My parents to even let me play a different sport besides tennis which I don’t need in my life. I just hope one day every kid can do a sport that s/he want to take action on.
