This is by far the fastest and most amazing laptop I have EVER used! I walk you through the beautiful presentation inside the box and the setup to get started. How is it going so far? I am planning to go with the *i9 processor with 4K screen.* What's your suggestion? I would be *editing videos, photos and then playing games.* Any major issues you faced so far?
It's going great! Honestly I semi regret getting the version I got. 4K adds extra expense and I don't even notice a difference between that and 1080p unless I put my face up against the monitor. i9 is so much more also with not that much more of a boost than the i7. If I were to rebuy it, I would've bought this i7 1080p FHD with 300mhz refresh rate. The 4K maxes out at 60mhz (so the most you could get is 60fps). This is the one I recommend... amzn.to/2X7lajR

Can you tell me about the fan noise? A lot of people say the fan noise has a high pitched sound and overly annoying
The fans are pretty loud but only when you are in overclock mode to get more power out of games.

I would stick with the i7 and 2070. It's just so much more expensive to jump up to the i9 and 2080 and it's really no that much faster for how much more money you will have to spend

I’m curious you opinion of the laptop? I maybe in the process of getting a new r4 and didn’t know if i wanted to go with the 360hz 1080p display vs the 4k oled screen. Oled doesn’t have gsync whole 1080p does and I’ll also be hooking up external monitors when I’m at my desk normally. I also worry about Oled burn in especially on a laptop
I regret the 4K honestly. When I switch between 4K and HD, I can't even tell the difference and now I'm stuck with a laptop that doesn't go past 60fps. If you go with the R4 I would get this one: amzn.to/36SB07b

it does get hot but I just turn on the high fan mode in Alienware Command Center and it holds up pretty well when pushing the computer on a high graphics game

Hey Teeven, I would say it’s definitely not even close. The new X17 is way faster and now my m17 is overheating like crazy when editing 4k videos. It has been 2 years now though so I really need to bite the bullet and open this complicated laptop up to clean out the fans and probably repaste

desktops are always better even with the same specs because they have more breathing room to dissipate all the heat and they are less expensive but I prefer the more expensive laptop that is almost as fast as the desktop because I need to be portable

that's a very solid setup you mentioned! For the money I would get a 2070 graphics card. 2080 is just so much more expensive for not that much of a boost

based on the performance reviews for the Alienware m17 r3 I looked at before buying it, it looked as thought the added benefit wasn't worth how much more expensive the i9 was
And getting the i9 would probably just cause it to output more power which would cause the fans to be even louder at times even when the i9 isn't really needed. AMD would be so much better in laptops.

@@alanl9497 AMD has been knocking it out of the park lately. They're both good but with how good AMD has gotten and their lower wattage allowing for lower temps, I'd like to see them more often in laptops now.

Hey ŞâňJįţH §J the x17 is newer. They both look to have pretty similar performance but the m17 does get a lot hotter and that can be a problem sometimes
Dell does recommend you update the BIOS ASAP since they have fixed a lot of issues since the initial releases. The latest BIOS release for the Alienware M15/17 R3's is V1.7.2 and its strongly recommended since it contains microcode fixes n all.

How could there be so many dislikes? Why would someone not like the beast of a computer Alienware. As always, the white color accent is just a delight. I still remember black and bulky Alienware a couple of years ago.
I think a lot of the dislikes were due to this being one of my oldest videos with not much info or time into the edit. One of my least quality videos
What was your wait time before it arrived? Did you have any issues with shipping? Was the arrival date accurate?
They told me two months and but it came early in only two weeks. So it was way off but in a good way! Which configuration are you looking to get?
@@JustinTechTips I’ve actually already ordered mine, it’s the m17 R3 with the RTX 2080 Super max Q with the 300hz 100%sRGB screen. I put the 10th gen i7-10875 8 core processor in it with 32 gbs or ram and 1TB of storage. I also went with the per-key lighting. I ordered it a week ago and it stayed in the “order Confirmed” stage for a week, I checked last night and it finally entered the “production” stage. My estimated arrival date is June 2nd. I’m excited for its arrival!

I don’t notice any lag on mine but yeah I would get the m15 for the lowest respond time. Honestly on my m17, on it’s 4K screen, the pixels are so tiny that I feel like it’s not even worth it to get 4K. Especially on the m15’s smaller 15” monitor. This is the one I recommend for you amzn.to/2Qr0X58.

there's a lot of small differences between the two but you should be able to transition pretty smoothly. You will definitely get a better gaming experience on the Alienware.

I know this is going to sound dumb but I’m debating wether to get this or a Mac for school
Not dumb at all. I debated the same thing for my freelance 3D and motion graphics animation gigs. I chose Alienware because I needed Windows for one of my 3D programs and you get more power for your money with Alienware. This computer is super powerful and the fastest computer I’ve ever used. The keyboard also feels higher quality than the macbooks and just looks so much cooler. If you want to be able to have the option of a near future proof gaming machine then definitely get this one amzn.to/2FTy0wL . This Macbook amzn.to/32kgIQT is pretty comparable to my Alienware m17 r3. The graphics cards will be weaker on the macbooks for the same price as the Alienware laptops though. I do like how clean and user friendly Macbooks are. If you are only needing a computer for internet and taking notes, research, and writing reports and you don't need super fast I recommend saving your money and going with a higher end Chromebook like this one.. amzn.to/2FTBM9p . whats the difference bw m15 and m17 , only screen size??
The biggest difference between the laptops is that the Alienware m15 R3's GPU is built upon Max-Q technology, whereas the Alienware m17 R3 features a full GPU. Although the m15 lasts a little longer on the battery and has it's screens have a slightly faster response time over the m17s screens. Which some gamers may notice this difference with the 4k screens. m15 is 1ms and m17 is 25ms

Definitely an Alienware because of the 3D rendering. So much more graphics power for your money on an Alienware than a Mac. I do still love Macs as well though. If you were only using Adobe, I would go with a Mac. But any gaming or 3D rendering, definitely Alienware.

Can anyone tell me how to change my display from 1920x1080 300hz to output 4K? I have the 2070, first gaming PC so I’m a bit lost
Mine personally comes in a few days but from everything I read and seen, if you have the 300hz screen you don't have the option to go 4k unless you ordered the Oled screen but that output is 60hz. What some people been doing is if they have the 300hz screen they just purchased a 4k monitor and connected their laptop to it.
yeah that works to. I have the 4k screen and I use a larger non 4k monitor as my main screen LOL and my laptop screen as my second screen
@@JustinTechTips 😂 man why does that sound backwards to me lol. But that's cool man. Mine just came two days ago with the OLED screen and I just finally opened it tonight and going through the setup. Very, very nice computer.
One thing I came across though is right out the back the Function keys at the top does not work when pushed unless you use the FN key first then hit the F keys at the top. But I learned you can go into BIOS and changed that feature in order to activate the F Keys at the top.

the screen is pretty thin so it does flex if you pull hard the corners in opposite directions but I wouldn't consider it flimsy at all

I got the M17 R3 and I have two regrets. I should have ordered the single key color programmable keyboard and got at least the RTX2060 Super and not just the RTX2060 video card. Also, the battery certainly does have short life. The heat is expected from the specs.
I feel the same way about the key color! It was only $30 more but I didn’t think it was necessary. I for some reason want that though. Yes because of how powerful this machine is the battery does not last for a long time but I’ve always got access to a plug whenever I am doing something that requires a lot of processing power

Is the screen 4K
The version I got is 4K, but after using it for a while I regret not getting the standard HD version because it has a 300hz refresh rate vs my 4K screen with only 60hz. After testing my display settings at 1920 x 1080 I realize you can’t tell the difference between 4K and HD unless you get extremely close to the screen. Don’t get the exact one I got. for gaming i would pick the 1080p option. check the fps differences between 4k and a 1080 at ultra. The real question is why arent they offering 1440p displays thats the sweet spot. Btw i have teh aw 17r4 1440p and the m17r3 will never get a 4k display on a laptop 1440p or 1080p is where is at.
Chaos Specter After a month with the 4K I agree. I have to put my face so close to the screen to see any pixel it’s not really worth it. 1080p on a laptop screen will always be enough for me. I do like the Tobii eye tracker though! I definitely see this being super optimized for enhanced gaming in the near future. I figured out it was the way the new layout was on the site for actually picking things you gotta start with a baseline increment. What is 17 r4? I thought I’d ordered the newest since it’s been literally 7 years since my laptop I thought I oughta get something nicer. 1440 would be nice yea! I do think the higher refresh rate and less battery task from screen is a benefit of the 1080. Really my heart is hoping I shouldn’t have just laid down another 700 or so bucks and got in with the “desktop replacement model” which I only found AFTER placing my order (I swear their website is so horribly designed, and the help person I chat with didn’t seem helpful as much as trying to sell vs. explain dem mofuggin options.)
I have AW from 2013, it’s done me well, and I did happen to love the shape, and keyboard. This ones is verrrry different. I’ll be seeing it by the first hopefully. Stuff that has me wondering is why no more optical drives, and on my 2013 AW laptop, I have three audio jacks, mic/headphones/headset. And them fancy ones don’t¿. I do a lot of audio stuff with these laptops, but wanna get back into gaming too.

@@Uathe aw 17 r4 is just an older model that came with a nice 1440p 120hz screen mine still runs every game with its gtx 1080 and 1440p is a really nice res to game on. Then again I guess u can just hook it up to a monitor later on if stationary.

@@JustinTechTips here’s the deal...I first ordered the intel 7 10k something cpu, m.2 1TB, 16gb ram and the Radeon XT 6800 GPU (am I saying right?) in the Alienware m17 R3 trim less than a week ago. I check yesterday and Dell had the Darksids of the moon AW with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800, 3070 in the M17 R5 trim. I upgraded to the M.2 1TB, and for extra ram for $2100 something. I’ll be much happier with this laptop. So Current I have an AMD R 7 3700x with the 2060 8gb OC which is a major move up for me. I also canceled the first laptop because I’m not made of money.

I was considering this laptop until after I found out about the soldered ram and network card. Dell really kicked themselves in the nuts by doing this. They are losing potential customers because of it. Previous generations didn't do that. Why now? Such a shame.

Here in India due to various customs and taxes the price for the laptop gets doubled the original price. For Eg. the base version of this m17 r3 costs about $1600 but in India it will cost almost 600-900 dollars more ;( Flying to US and buying the laptop and then returning seems more practical lmao...

I don't see the point in getting a 4k screen on a laptop anymore.I would just get a 4k monitor and connect it to make a more better experience. Saves money
