Not puffy eyes, it's aegyo-sal, which translates to eye-fat. It's been a beauty standard forever in Korea because it's associated with youth and smiling (like how your eyes scrunch when smiling). Puffy eyes are, unfortunately, not the same thing and aren't perceived the same way
I think you’re mixing up aegyosal and eyebags. the swollen eye look comes from eyebags. (Read below for ez explanation: Aegyosal is FAT that is _PLUMPED_ , *OUTWARDS* (away from ur face). It make the eyes look larger both vertically and horizontally. On the other hand, eyebags are SAGGING SKIN, that is DRAGGED *DOWNWARDS* (toward ur feet/ground).

I mean a little bit is still okay cuz as you say, it makes your eyes pop out and look big but recently Yuna from itzy was drawn some huuuge aegyosal which actually made her look so bad when she's such a beauty with already big eyes. That's when I realised that I don't really like this trend and the thing is, aegyosal has been a kpop thing for soooo long. Trends usually go and come back but this one just stays. 🥲

The most important tip is that the aegyosal stays within range of 1-2cm away from the eye 😅. 3cm is too much; our brain will now *compare* the size of aegyosal vs. real eye size, rather than perceiving the aegyosal to be *a part of* our real eye. +Btw, u think she has big eyes bc she has natural aegyosal too. If we photo edited out her natural aegyosal, her eyes would look “suffocating” (smaller).
