    The revised buggy from Mugen is ready for the track. We tested Adam Drake's actual buggy for the review so the setup was dead on and man was it awesome.

    Hello! I have given racing a shot this winter (indoor, carpet, 1/14 offroad) and... I got addicted ;) I am looking for a competition 1/8 buggy as my Carson Spectre might not do the trick on comps. I am strongly considering Mugen MBX8 eco, however, quite some people told me to look for MBX6 or MBX7 as the are much more durable. Can you comment on this? 1/8 KIT is worth quite some money so I would like to make a smart pick :)
    Thanks in advance for the feedback :)

    How would you say this car compares to the Tekno EB48.4?

    • @vrcmag
      @vrcmag  Před 6 lety +2

      Dave FivelStone to be fair until driven at the same track same day it’s not fair to judge. Both are great choices. But my comment in the video does say which I’d buy today.

    • @one4all989
      @one4all989 Před 6 lety +4

      Dave FivelStone I have the Tekno and race with my cousin’s Mugen mbx8 eco. Every time we meet up we drive one another’s car. The Tekno jumps further, super stable mid air, and nothing lands as plush as a Tekno. Both have great steering. I prefer the steering of the Mugen because it’s not hyper responsive, rotates through the turns, but very controllable. Mugen steering would be the skilled racer’s choice. Tekno is very easy to drive. No need to turn early to make up for understeer because it just turns hard and fast. I’d say the Tekno is a bit more durable. I’ve jumped high and far. Even smashed square into a wall. It made a loud firework sound, but nothing broke or bent.
      Nothing steers like these two. They don’t lack steering, but are easy to drive. Just depends on your driving style. But I’d say Tekno is greater than or equal to Mugen when it comes to speed around a track purely because of how it can jump further and doesn’t chassis slap on landing. Not that the Mugen is bad at landing. It’s just that Tekno uses truggy shocks and has tremendous amount of droop to soak up the jumps. Nothing comes close. Both handle rough tracks very well. Many beginners and lower skilled drivers prefer Tekno because that car does everything well and super predictable. For me I prefer the Mugen because of the driving style. Plus I don’t like the thin body of my Tekno.
      I don’t understand why most brands increased the price from $550 to $650 the past year. It’s always been $550 with every new model. Even when you buy real size vehicles the new models take over the price of the older ones. The old ones get discounted. So those claiming it an improvement over the previous year don’t know what they’re talking about. Of course each new model is an improvement and becomes the new flagship, but you don’t buy a 2018 Toyota Tundra, and then have the 2019 tundra sell for more.
      Can’t be helped due to too many hillbillies letting hobby shops both local and online take advantage of them, the same way mechanics take advantage of people with broken cars. I remember the first time I got an rc car and went to the hobby shop to have them solder bullet connectors. They sold me a pair of connectors for $10. Another guy who at the time just started the hobby said his local hobby shop said they charge $10 per wire that needed to be soldered. When businesses struggled due to the 9/11 attacks, the lhs owner said he’d close down, but it’s no problem because he’s already made enough to be set for life. Once all these hillbillies pass away, not too many young kids or adults will spend that much for a high quality toy.

      one4all Considering the $ 100 difference between the MBX8 eco and Tekno EB48.4, in your opinion would Tekno be the best option to buy?

    • @one4all989
      @one4all989 Před 5 lety

      Paulinho Braz even if they were the same price the Tekno is still better. Most steering on an 8th scale buggy, yet even more stable. Nothing comes close to how the Tekno jumps with stability and soaks up jumps. It’s the easier car to drive too. At best other brands match its durability but Tekno is second to none.
      But if you’re a skilled racer, you’ll like the way the Mugen drives. Not as stable through the corners, but just as fast if you know what you’re doing. Does not jump or land like Tekno though.
      Also Tekno cars can jump further. Doesn’t matter if they are going the same speed, same traction, tight shock package, Tekno is on another level throughout a jump and landing.

      @@one4all989 Actually I'm trying to choose my first buggy, I want to start in the hobby, but I want to start with a good equipment so I do not have to change so soon. I am in doubt which one to choose. By your comments the tekno seems to be the correct choice. He is superior in every way.
