    At just 6 years old, I was not really watching sports on TV yet. But I have watched parts of that insane series Chipper had against the Mets before the end of the '99 season. He almost single handedly ended their season, and then they had that hard fought NLCS the next month.

      @jonathanyoung9369 Před 3 lety

      I have this feeling that you may not have had a father growing up, and my heart breaks for you. So, there's something about a bond between a father and son when it comes to baseball; hence, interviewing his father from Chipper's youth to his retirement is the most intimate insight one can get on his career other than talking directly to Chipper the entire series. Hearing his father talk about them going upstairs to negotiate Chipper's first contract as John Sheurholtz sits in the living room, or sharing what Don Baylor told Chipper that changed his overall approach to hitting, allowing him to go from a great player to elite, and even talking about how proud he was when his son hit his 400th home run, seeming like he is still processing the significance like it still hasn't fully sunk in yet....i found all of those stories fascinating and we wouldn't have gotten that from any other source. In fact, I don't have statistics and I'm certainly not a psychologist, but I could see how some kids that were abandoned by their father would be more likely to play other sports like basketball because if you play baseball, you need at least one other person to play with. When I'm driving home from work in the afternoons into my neighborhood, the 2 most likely scenarios I see besides someone working in their yard is either a father and his son playing catch in the yard or a boy or girl shooting basketball by themselves.
