I'd say it counts, 1 it's able to do it without changing it from how it came from the factory. 2 the demon 170 and the demon are purpose built for drag racing while still being street legal. 3 dodge isn't the only company that has marketed its stats for what they made it to do and for, it's a drag car so marketing it's stats from drag strip data makes sense.
Okay, so compare it with other cars that are made for drag. Do not compare it with cars that are made for track or streets.
Dodge fanboys are going nuts because it can do 1.66 in surreal conditions, and no other car can do that - yes, but no other car is made for drag specifically from the factory, if you want to compare Demon, don't compare it with other non-drag cars on drag conditions, compare Demon with track/street cars on track/street conditions, then your "mighty" Demon gonna be eaten by the majority.
It's like comparing a shark with a lion - you can't compare them, you need to take one of them form their natural environment which doesn't make sense, Lion in the ocean has no chance, same as shark on the land 🤷♂.
I think after a while the Plaid would get boring.. Because it doesn't have a soul 😂 the HellCat has a startup 😅

I’m with you the car is crazy impressive and the way a final edition should be but stripped down on a prepped drag strip and street roads are two different worlds. Kinda like when a football player runs the 40 yard dash pretty much butt ass naked it would be cool to see them run it in full football gear carrying a football.
Yeah but if you can drive you can hook. I had a 2018 Demon and I buss length awd on a dig on the street no prepared surface and was able to hook like i was on the strip.
Welll it’s more like 1.9s on a “prepped surface”. On a regular road you’d be lucky to put ANY of that power down before rocketing it into the median. Regardless, it’s ridiculously impressive that it even exists 🎉
i seen a m5 competition DESTROY a demon. it did it for two reasons. one the m5c weighs less. two because the m5c has that all important awd. it'll be no different with this. dodge is dumb. they should've made it awd instead of adding all that impractical hp.
@@fallback8314 AWD would have been amazing but from dodge’s perspective it wouldn’t have made sense to spend the money to reengineer the Challenger as it’s the last model year for it. 1025hp and drag radials pulls more attention which makes them easy money
I love this car but hate the 4 stroke in it! There needs to be a 440 CID 2 stroke v8 DFI with exhaust sleeve trapping valves. Sort of like a scaled up Rotax 850 Etec turbo R!

Stellantis doesn't have much of a choice, and would almost certainly keep it if they did. CAFE regulations require that car companies have to pay higher and higher penalties every year for making fuel-inefficient cars.

What they should have done was make it AWD. It could have been the first and only muscle car with AWD dodge ever made. That way you wouldn't have needed fairytale conditions to go fast.

No one is selling at msrp. 2x msrp at best, but most are 3x.

WHY ARE YOU FOCUSING ON WHAT THIS CAR COMES WITH FROM THE FACTORY?
This is the worlds quickest and fastest ICE production car…. So why are yo yo talking about comparing this dodge to a Mclaren with a tune or a Tesla with weight reduction?
You don’t compare this car to cars that have custom tunes, weight reduction and mods ….. if you’re gonna compare this car to them then I say don’t buy one! But a v6 challenger… do some weight reduction, drop the Hellephant in it and the Demon 170 trans with a quick change Ford 9in. You failed to focus on what this car is and what it does bone stock off the showroom floor……. You lost me when you started objecting to the E85 and lack of passenger seat among other things:…. If you’re gonna look at this car and worry about what you can compare it too because it hot rod parts as is thus making a comparison to another stock car a problem for you.
If a car comes out with a new hot engine that makes it out perform another car you don’t need to find a modified car to do a comparison because the Demon has parts other manufacturers don’t use….. YOU JUST COMARE THEM, STOCK FOR STOCK , without making excuses like (the demon runs on e85 so can’t compare that to another stock car that uses regular unleaded)… I HATE DODGE BUT THINK THE BOLD MOVE THEY MADE WITH THE DEMN is LEGANDARY!! No other manufacturer would offer a street legal drag car…. Really think about it… ITS INSANE. The Demon makes absolutely ZERO business sense other than making a statekent

You should be comparing the top stage kit model charger Daytona banshee coming out soon versus the testicleLA plaid, which would be a much better comparison.
And between you and me, I believe the top trim Banshee will beat the DEMON170 & the Plaid ...no problems!
According to OC Motivator the prices on Demon 170 cars is starting to soften a bit due to the problem of its engine "grunting" after a proper drag strip launch. This happened to Racer X's Demon 170 and he has a video documenting this. His video shows him doing everything nice and proper at the drag strip. Dodge wants you to do an oil change after each trip to the drag strip, those can become a bit pricey as they're not your typical oil change but there it is. Also there are rumors circulating that the car's oil pump may not be up for the task at hand. I personally think it's the E85 component that's the real culprit here. I say that because the 2018 Demon's ain't having any of these issues. Lastly 2018 Dodge Demon values are going up and the most recent 2023 Dodge Demon 170's prices are starting to fall just a bit as a result of all this. If you're still in the market for a Demon 170 just wait and bide your time as their price may drop even further especially if Dodge can't solve this problem quickly. Me I think the safe money is on the 2018 Dodge Demon if you can find one in your desired price range. You'll have to do your due diligence and vehicle research up front and probably be willing to travel but I think you could ultimately be successful in this endeavor. Good luck!
prepped surface or not it coould still do 0-60 in under 2 seconds even if we dont get the 1.66 on prepped, and regardless of E 85 1025 hp, 900 hp is still alot on 91 lol. This car flys.

The coolest part is the parachute from the factory! I'm sure that has to be a first on a production car.
The parachute DOES NOT come from the factory. You buy it AFTER the fact from Dodge’s direct connection network, and have it installed at specially designated DC Dodge dealers.

Only in drag mode you can reach 151 miles per hour and the regular price was 96,666 dollars 💵 the mark ups are crazy Its not worth it because dodge said that top speed was 217 miles per hour this is why customers are upset with dodge..!! The mark-ups 240,000 dollars 💵 & up 340,000 dollars 💵 ..!! The 2023 hellcat redeye widebody jailbreak is 807 horsepower and fly pass a Demon only because it's built for the Texas mile and you reach top speed 217 miles per hour but people get it so confused the demon is built for 1/4 mile drag racing 🏁 & not road racing 🏁 the only difference between the two cars.😊

They have announced this car but there is only speculation on your part about this upcoming model. Yes we all know the specifics but besides the testers NOBODY has driven one so what you say is opinion not an actual fact. And since it would be so simple to do a pulley change on that supercharger to yield more power, just face it it's the highest horsepower car ever produced.
Your complaints lead me to believe you don’t understand the purpose of this car. Firstly, yes the time counts, with the knowledge that a prepped drag strip is how they intended for you to drive the car.. and don’t let dodge take heat for doing their 0-60 on a prepped surface since the model S did it first just purely for marketing so they could beat the 2 second mark.. on a car that was intended for the road as opposed to a prepped surface. The reason they made extra seats more expensive is the same reason they doubled the price of the sunroof of this car as the original Demon. It adds weight, and Dodge specifically wanted to discourage people from buying features that would make the car slower since, again, it was intended for drag racing. If someone buys this car and tries 0-60 runs on the street they don’t deserve the money they spent on it. You drone on and on about street and practicality… yet you say you get it. I don’t think you get it… this car definitely wasn’t made for you. As proven by the fact that you think a charger version would be a great idea…
Separately you cannot blame the car on dealer markups. The best cars from EVERY BRAND get marked up because dealers in majority are life sucking leeches riding the wave of whatever badge they’re pushing. Also, complaining about *features* in a car that has never been pushed as plush is a knobhead move.
200k over sticker is so nuts. It's a bit of a commy take but I've always thought there should be legal limits on profits. It's a pretty easy calculation, cost of materials, labour plus the holy grail 20% roi and that should be the max you can profit. Most businesses profit margins are way less than that but when you see dealers making ridiculous money because of shortages in the midst of crippling inflation gets me so mad. Not to mention supermarkets and oil companies reporting record profits during times of crisis and paying no tax is sickening.
Whats the point of driving a car thats easy to hit consistent numbers wheres the fun in that 😂 youve been driving too many Teslas. It would be more rewarding getting a good time with the demon 170 since its hard same goes for the hellcats redeyes etc
I hate the charger and I always have. It's ugly as sin and it's a 4door. They should've never made the charger a 4door. Now I would've loved to see them come out with the roadrunner and the coronet. 1 more different style for the hemi would've been sick

This should not count! The whole point of a road legal vehicle is that it can bring that performance to the road. And since this time is only achievable on a specially prepared track surface, it shouldn't get to have that as an official road legal time. And that is before we have even started fuel and the tyres...

The appeal is going to the track and enjoying the shock and awe. You can't get that from boring EV's. Do you need these high powered cars? No. Do you want one? Hell yes.
Who with a very light manual car actually goes to a track? Tracks are expensive af and unless the car is a daily, you can do most twistys speed limit and up even in a dually dodge ram 3500. For daily driving you don’t need something that can corner well at a 100
Other than the fact that it can only be quick in straight line, it requires a prepped surface and special tires to put all the power down. A 2012 Porsche Carrera Turbo S can beat it from 0-60. or a slightly modded BMW M5 Competition. A manual Mini JCW can destroy it around a twisty track. This car is a noisy whale that can't put the power down efficiently, its like a very powerful Harley Davidson. It looks cool but as an european straight line performance doesn't mean anything to me. Also if it requires to have special tires and a specially prepped surface then the claimed numbers don't mean anything. A well engineered car would do fine in normal conditions. I bet it will sell well because there are lots Dodge Challenger fans. The problem with Challengers and Chargers is that it appeals to low IQ people and it tends to be stolen a lot. Its like the Golf R in Europe.
