  • Bethany, the Alaska Relic Hunter, spends 3 weeks teaching scuba diving classes in Sitka, Alaska. Between classes, she explores the world of harvest diving for abalone, scallops and sea cucumber!
From the ocean to the table, Bethany takes you on an adventure to find food sources in the ocean!
*** Warning… this video has graphic footage of harvesting marine life as a subsistence way of living in Alaska. Some viewers may find this upsetting.

    Hi Bethany,
It's been a while since you posted, but I always look forward to
    your next videos.
I guess the town with the school teacher was an early one of yours I saw.
What did that sea cucumber do to you, Meany:)
What a great variety of sea creatures to harvest.
    Scallops, Ling Cod,

The lions mane is our only jelly that stings up here… it burns a bit at first and then tingles for a few hours. Not too bad, but you notice it! Lol

Do you work seasonally then take a few weeks off in between or is this a year round sort of job? Genuinely curious what the work/life balance looks like for you doing this.

I work hard until I have saved enough money to go play for a bit! 😂

@@alaskarelichunter1157 So they let you off to go play? It's not like a 9-5 job where you have quotas and gotta show up all year round, etc?
I love the idea of flexibility. Am considering this sort of work myself.
