    Also how to repair your ibs sensor when it is discharging your battery. Not everytime this will help.

    My 09 BMW 128i base does have a IBS and just swapped my 2nd battery yesterday finally dead it was put in on 05/2014 that is over 5 years old average on both of them being the car was built on January 2009. I used a 94RH7-AGM w/ 1000 cranking amps Auto-Craft Platinum series battery.

      I have a 08 335xi. When starting, the fuel pump humms, you hear 2 clicks but it doesn't turn over. Same problems?

    I am planning to by a BMW from the auction was running but Steering Lock came on and supposedly the piece you speak about is the reason or low volaltage or the steering was yanked really hard one way i have read but my question once you removed that negative battery and put the new one on how did you or did you have to reprogram your battery and did the car start? Thanks

    Had my car Valeted and it wouldn't start afterwards. Turns out they got the battery wet. Followed this video and it's alive again. Thanks mate.
    Mine was an older style with no plug on the negative terminal, instead I removed the blue plug on positive and the small blue plug further up the loom.

    Hi , i have an e93 08 , i have some issues eg windows only work using key in drivers door but nothing from any switch in the car, mirrors work from the master window switch but not the windows, put a new battery in and says that the health is 39% on it checked through bimmerlink! Ran a diagnostics and “ibs sensor” has come up as faulty but car drives perfectly fine, any suggestions? Thanks

    My engine has started cutting in and out intermittently after doing some recent work. During which I removed the negative terminal. Now it cuts in and out like an old fashioned car with a doggy connection to the ignition coil. But it only does so at around 2500 rpm with gentle throttle, If I accelerate it goes away.

      Yes, it will cause loss of power, crank no start, can give u bunch of codes, engine/transmission malfunction, misfires

    Word of caution when doing this.
    Yes, it works great, but you need to have this part replaced sooner rather than later. This causes shortened battery life due to the system continuously overcharging the battery.

      Never had a ibs till I got bmw. These don't matter. Car will be alright😂 any dealerships will say otherwise tho. But hell I can work in a dealership

      @@elbakaa I can only speak for e90 328i no start stop. I have older camaro that have the same battery for over 6 years. Ibs is BS Un needed electronics. Older cars don't have that sensor and they don't just randomly overcharge the battery either.

      @@tykendrick800 i have bmw e90 2008 318i . i have a problem idk what is it . one time everything works fine . sametimes when i driving in the monitor turning on AbS,Tyre,And more errors , after if i dont stop car and dont power off car, 2-3 min and again showing battery on dashboard . after The steering wheel is stiff and car turning off . next if i dont take minus cable for battery 5-10 minut after puting but dont starting if i dont use Powerbank . and its continues idk what problem have a car . when i cheking with obd diagnoss , in engine error have 4A27 - Intelligent

      @@elbakaa honestly it can be either weak battery, alternator or the ibs. A weak alternator will throw a ton of codes. Best to use a scanner to see live data

    Mine was in an accident that caused the steering wheel airbag deploy. I replaced the positive cable and it has power again, but still won’t start. Should I try this?

      I was thinking the same thing, with a big wonky ratchet and its all metal handle
      not trying to white knight here, but I use a stubby with a rubber handle and close all positive caps even still.
      Just imagine the worst happening, once you release the magical smoke from the modules its all over friend, faster than you can shart your britches.

      You don’t. That wire was used in transportation and dealers. Prob for a battery tender or something.

    So I got same issue , couldnt start the engine , couldnt even unlock the steering wheel after the key is plug in. And removed the plug if the IBS and it worked! LoL So Injust want to know what if I leave it forever unpluged , does it harms anything ? Probably my sensor is gone , but is it safe is it any good not fixing it and just leaving the car like that with the sensor unpluged ?

      If the distribution box is burned and you bypass it , you will need to remove IBS cause it’ll prevent fuel pump: engine from starting

      No idea about the error code but I had a no start issue it was due to Fuel Pump Relay located next to the Rear Fuse box. Just to let u know.

      @@vilisiasulufinai1151 its the small blue clip taped to the harness. Unplug it and the car should start. If not you keed to pull the top right relay begind the glovebox and replace it.

      @3RD CAV I just figured it out. For me it was the small control wire plug on the starter, it was loose but just a few mm (you wouldnt notice by just looking at it). Pushed it back in and voila, the car ran like nothing has ever happened :D PS: I had the same issues as you stated before but for me it was the injectors, sparkplugs and ignition coils. Replaced them and everything was fine again.

      @@MrStam1234 i had a bad fuse box there is also a recall on some 328i for the POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE that goes from BATTERY to FUSE box dealer will fix for free must call to see if ur car is under that recall.

      U need to replace the Ibs adapter and check if it’s giving u power or making false contact

      @Russell DeMark yeah, turned out to be the alternator in the end. Tried replacing voltage regulator, didn't work. You'll probably have to replace the alternator. It's a pretty easy job thou

    This is an ok temporary fix.. but eventually driving without the IBS plugged in will lead to another no start scenario… coming from someone who has experienced this first hand

      @@yungxsixbigswagdady6970 was it recently in an accident? If yes, replacing that IBS wire is going to be your only fix. But it will start up once replaced.. if there isn’t any other underlying issues 😅🥲 gotta love bimmers for that

    I’ve had so many mechanics give me different bullshit answers, honestly my car will start when jumped, and will stay charged for about 3 days. Next thing you know I can’t start it anymore , and the battery suddenly shows up as a dead cell.. I’ve replaced the battery twice now, checked the alternator… what could it be?!?

    Did your battery catch on fire an year after this "mod" ? For those that don't know, this sensor is there to reduce the charge after the battery gets older. Therefore it will get overcharged, Wich is fire hazard.

      Clean battery connections with sand paper or warm water and baking soda be sure to rinse after tighten them up and try to get a jump
