Just grabbed the Legion 5slim on a discount at Best Buy - also has a *glossy* OLED. Interesting they are using glossy screens on them - maybe to accentuate the high contrast?

HP Omen Transcend 16... well, what I got disappointed was missing special cooling because Omen Transcend 14 has special cooling called hyperbaric chamber and it's damn good. Shame they didn't use that on 16 inch because from what I have seen, I'm 100% sure it would be capable cooling beast RTX 4080 at higher TGP together with 14900HX. Other than that, the laptop looks nice and thin as well. And I damn love white version because I have white version Lenovo Legion 5i Pro and it's a beauty 😁
Yeah, that white one looks sick! Bob has send me the white version of the Max 15 and we will livestream that one together. Yes, if HP had used that cooling on this to allow more power this would be an awesome machine. Shame. Thanks for watching mate!

I'm afraid it is an IPS, they say it is 100% sRGB and 400 nits. Only has a 512GB Ssd though. Might be better with the open box OLED one on Best Buy for $1800
i wish your reviews contained more detailed information on the cooling capacity. namely, what's the maximum sustained wattage that the cooling system is capable of dissipating long term. also information on bios is very important for gaming laptops, especially if you're planning to use linux: ideally you want to set up all overclocking/undervolting in the bios without messing with any of the windows bloatware that the laptop ships with.
i also want to see more emphasis put into repairability analysis: how hard is the laptop to take apart? how hard is it to repaste it? how robust are the I/O ports that are usually the first to break (power and audio jacks)?
not just this model, I wish every laptop review had more in-depth information like this.

Watching this video on my travel (ON THE GO) Laptop the brand new ASUS G14 with RTX 4060VRAM 8GB @90 watts 16GB RAM @6400 mhz and consistently hitting 56 to 72 FPS on NRFTW ! OLED Native 2800X1800. These are amazing results for this thin little laptop. (not fully optimized game) Settings are discreet GPU on Turbo with $100 laptop cooler with drops in temps up to 10 degrees Celsius. Amazing ! I paid $1449 on sale at Best buy during their 2 day ASUS sale :)

The display is awesome but id be too nervous about burn-in assuming HP doesnt offer any kind of burn-in warranty unlike most of the OLED monitor makers offering 3 years.
Not sure what some of those pricing configs were either.
$1500 for a 4070 laptop is like max what id spend if it was for gaming, so that Newegg one wasnt bad but $2000 and up seems way too much.
You can find some 4080 laptops for less than $2000 on sale these days even.

Yeah, i agree. $2000 is crazy expensive for a 4070, and especially one that is lucky to get to 120w even. I know when I had my oled laptop I set a screen saver to activate after 5 minutes to help prevent burn in.
You can but you have to be very careful. You may get one with 4080 an it's only 115 watts vs 175 what you need for it so it's not going to perform as a 4080 an you honestly better off with 4060 or even 70. This shows in the fps he shows later in the video even last gen top 3080 or 3080ti would out beat it which shouldn't be a thing. I agree prices are def crazy I was lucky to get my Asus rog zephyrus duo 16 for even 230 bucks an that was alot but for two screens I' actually make use of an playing every game on extreme settings an portability it's worth it.
The lid should be aluminum too. On the 2023 which I have it is.
i almost get the omen but the transparent WASD is not a good move from HP, made the laptop less stealthy and elegant in my opinion, hopefully they will stick with a normal colored WASD keys in the future
I agree. I think the Max 15 which will be my next video is a much nicer and better performing thin and light machine.

Hey! I am using the Cyberpowerpc Tracer Vii. I9 13900hx and 4080. Love it. Took them 3 attempts to get me one that worked though. It's the same as the Mech 17 GP2 minus the Prema Bios

@@92JinKazamathanks for sticking with me for so long! I've had a couple of Razer laptops before. They are nice but feel that they are a bit over priced and tend to run hot . The aluminium chassis also gets pretty warm. I've also had a couple of Omens, they were both pretty solid performers and easy to repaste. The speakers on this one were poor though and I was disappointed that you only get the one ssd slot for the price. Perhaps give Asus a shot? You can at least use a smaller USB C charger if weight is an issue.

@@JadeEmperorTalesBest Buy has an open box in excellent condition for $1800. That's not bad, still a bit pricey but it looks cool in white and it is a thin and light machine. $2200 is too expensive. The Newegg one looks decent but only has a 512GB ssd and there is only one slot so you will have to clone the OS on to a larger drive... And it doesn't have the oled panel but still has a decent IPS.
hi dear friend i just bought the omen 16 Transcend with the following specs: i7 13700 HX 16 cores 24 thread , 16 GB RAM , screen IPS near to Qled 165 Hz refrech rate and 400 nits with 100 SRGB, RTX 4060 8GB , 1000 GB SSD NVME 4 and battery 97 mA about 9 hours of battery life, but it is and exellent LAPTOP PC i bought it for 2500 dollars

Why did Nvidia downgrade CUDA cores and a lot other valuable things from RTX 3070 to 4070?... I would love to listen to your view. I bought Hp Omen 2018 by your videos back in the days! Now looking for an upgrade?
Yes, I think it is daft too. That's why the Rtx 4070 performs close to a 3070Ti. If you can get a 3080ti laptop at a good price that is a good option, otherwise stick with a 4080 or if want to save money go with the 4060. But 8GB VRAM isn't very future proof...

It's ridiculous that 14900hx can be undervolted. Hoping that Intel baseline will not come to these bga otherwise they are out of performance and efficiency options compared to ryzen
I have no idea why HP and Lenovo slap an HX CPU in their more compact 16 inch laptops. Its overkill for the GPU its in and use too much power. Ppl seems to like to rag on Asus with this year's Zephyrus g16 but at least it comes with the Core Ultra which actually make sense for its form factor and has a pretty good battery life
Totally agree. The 14900HX in this just increases the price unnecessarily.

Wouldn't pay more than $1500 for any laptop with a 4070...barely any faster than a 4060 and still gimped by 8GB of VRAM and a lousy 128bit memory bus.
backing up data is part of the BIBLE ... Amen Clone disk makes great sense

Thats a mistake laptop... When it comes to 1440p most important thing is gpu, not cpu..but here they gave i9 with 130W gpu thats like a slap in the cheek for gamers
Yeah, and they stifle the watts on both the CPU and GPU anyway...
Now this is the type of display I want on gaming laptops more commonly.
But 4070 = crap. Unless its around $1000 with oled.
Mobile version too so it has less vram, slow vram, less Cuda, etc then it's desktop version. Closer in performance to a 3060 desktop than it is a 4070 desktop.
@@jonathanstevey1748 4070 mobile is pretty much a 4060ti 8gb in performance. Thus being really close to a 3070 desktop, just like the 3070ti 150w.
