2022 Toyota Tundra TRD PRO: HOW FAST IS IT IN THE 1/4 MILE? I Took It To The Drag Strip To Find Out!

  • After a 2-month rain delay, I was finally able to take my 2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro to the drag strip and find out what it runs in a 1/4 mile. My opponents were: 2020 Toyota Tundra SR5 TSS Off Road, 2022 Ford F-150 King Ranch, 2017 Chevy Silverado Single Cab, and a Honda Civic Type R.
    Unfortunately, the Ford F-150 Raptors were unable to make it along with several other vehicles. However, They are definitely next my the list. Stay tuned!

    You must be at elevation because 15.5 ET is a whole second lower than it can run

    I'm still surprised what my TRD pro feels like. I bet if you put down some straight street tires you could catch a good 3 sec.

    Get TRD performance air filters hold traction control button in until it turns off all completely. Now power brake to build boost to 2,500rpms or to 3k tops then unleash the beast once you get the go light. I’ve smoked the eco-boost with mine and a few other trucks so not sure what the problem is here in your video. You can also do the same in tow-haul or tow-haul plus mode.

      I realized after the fact I didn’t turn traction control off. Distracted with the recording and everything else haha. Next time though. Thank you for the suggestion 🤙🏻

      With a JB4 mixed with about 5 gallons of E85 set to Map 5. The Tundy is a beast. Oh, with S&B air intakes too. That how my SR5 is set up man does it move!

      Haha will do Jimmy. I could have launched harder had I put it in awd but man that’s guaranteed issues. But I am already tempted to modify this thing just to smoke that king ranch 😂. I did some research and the new F150s are indeed fast. The TRD pro is just so much heavier (1,000 lbs more)

    I was doing about 60 mph and I king ranch trying to pass me on I floored my tundra. And it was in my rear view. Also was doing 30mph and dealing with a Chevy Silverado too. I guess the tundra is slow off the line. Enjoy your videos 🇨🇦

      I think my mistake here was not turning off traction control and VSC. I’ll make sure next time these are off. I’m sure on a roll the z Tundra does great. Just a heavy vehicle off the line

      I live in the mountains and one thing people of all ages and car types do here, is drive slow until the passing lanes. It’s maddening but with my tundra it’s a breeze. Uphill going 60 lane opens up and there’s just so much power waiting to unleash. Not even close to flooring it and the truck just glides by everything. King ranch. Rams. Suvs. All behind me in no time, safely

      Those are actually the marker lights you see on the upper portion of the tailgate. Required for vehicles wider than 80 inches.

    Something has got to be wrong with your tundra. They should be running high 13s.
    Anyways my 2018 5.7 4x4 crewmax does 15.1 sec easily. Fastest it’s been is 14.65 sec

      I looked back and realized a possible driver error on my part. I didn’t turn off traction control or VSC. Was so distracted trying to record content at the same time. I honestly think this truck would be a low to mid 14. Breaking 13s would be amazing. I will shoot a part two video for this once the track opens back up.     Damn that new tundra is much slower then I thought it would be. Especially for the hp and tq it makes I thought it was gonna run a mid-high 13

      Same here haha. I’m sure I can modify and tune my truck to make it faster, but that’s a rabbit hole I don’t want to enter lol. Hopefully TRD comes out with an updated parts catalog for the new gen Tundra. I’ll be sure to try and buy the whole thing 🤣

    Big difference. 22 tundra is smaller and lighter, the V8 is heavier and bigger.

      Definitely agree with you! What would be interesting to see is an I-Force Max 1794 or Capstone vs. TRD Pro. I honestly want to see the difference a different set of wheels and tires can make.

      That’s awesome! Always nice talking to a fellow s2k owner! I definitely got major plans for the S2k. Currently laying out the blueprint for the motor build as we speak. Once that project is complete, a lot of road race and track videos to come. I plan on teaching the wife to drive stick so I can run it against my GR Corolla circuit edition when it comes in.       Why would you want an inferior truck? The new gen is worlds better in every way... old gens are boring, much slower, lacking tech, ugly, etc. All subjective, though, I know. I have a friend with a 2018 and it is a dinosaur compared to my 24

      @@joshkane534 when you say inferior what do you mean? Do you mean overly expensive electronics that have no purpose? They have the same suspension if you’re talking the Trd pro model. Twin turbo engines require way more repair way more maintenance and over the last 40 years they would never come close to the reliability or the longevity naturally aspirated engine. I don’t see anything here worth spending $30,000 over the previous tundra model. Who gives a crap about a drag race.

      ​​@@SuperSnakePlisskennone of the electronics are useless, all the tech features are amazing. Invisible trailer cameras, automatic back window, smart rear view mirror, all 4 ventilated/heated seats, huge nav screen, power running boards, etc, all nice to have and serve a purpose. It's bigger, faster, tows and hauls more, and is more capable in every way. The suspension is not the same. They got rid of the leaf spring setup for coil springs, added sway bars, new control arms, and TRD Pro gets FOX dampers.
