- Joe Biden has said the historic ruling that former presidents have immunity violates the principle that "there are no kings in America" and means the commander-in-chief can now "ignore the law".
Mr Biden warned a US Supreme Court ruling that gave his predecessor and opponent Donald Trump, a partial immunity from criminal prosecution is setting a "dangerous precedent", and is a "terrible disservice" to Americans.

Just heard Joe Biden say "this country was founded on that there would be no kings and no one is above the law".
Erm, in all modern western constitutional monarchies the head of state (the king/queen) doesn't actively lead the country and the people have political bodies like that House of Parliament, which is ran by the people for the people, and these are the people who run the country. The monarch makes no direct decisions, they are not above the law in the UK as that is what the Magna Carta was created for 500+ years before the US revolution, and most decisions are influenced by the House of Parliament and people not the head of state.
Contrast that to the USA where the head of state (the president) literally plays and active role in running the country and shaping it over 4 years. Says to me that power is disproportionately placed in the hands of 1 man for 4 years, who has ultimate control over the lives of every citizen in the USA.
The only difference between the heads of states between the UK a constitutional monarchy and the USA is that a president is voted in, and head of state is born into it. For us it's ceremonial and tradition, just the way it is.
This also extends to the other constitutional monarchies in the western world and federal systems, as opposed to unitary systems, has lead to dictators such as Russia. Because 1 man gets in and has ultimate power. Countries with true freedom tend to be located in Northern Europe, in the western world, not in central Europe or the America's.
