    Heck, yeah! I'll be trying this. First, let me say thank you for reminding us of the importance of a juicy ink pad. Can't hear it enough. My eyes tire of rolling whenever I hear someone apologize for their not-so-great result because of the lack of ink. Second, my favorite from beginning to end was the gel print on Hammermill -followed by the index - make it a hybrid and ooooooooo! Thank you for sharing!

Maybe it is an optical illusion, but there is a glow between each color on where the ink was hand blended. When I'm using something thick, I can't spatter well with a fan brush. I use a small brush that doesn't hold a lot of paint. I also tap the handle on whatever is handy, which mens it is often tapped on the hand not holding it.

    I absolutely loved this video Ardyth ❤ I really struggle to get that perfect blend, mainly because I probably don’t have the best quality brushes. Some of my brushes have really stiff bristles for some reason, so may have to look into the Altenew ones. You make the gel press look so simple with the brayer so it gives me hope. I’m still getting used to the brayering technique, and maybe I need a wider brayer to get better results. Oh well, you’ve given me hope that I’ll get there one day! Pretty card panels! Gel plate is not my jam (get it? "gel...JELLY" and "jam"? LOL!) ugh, sorry) I was going to try it but still haven't gotten around to buying one. I love what you do with it, though! For now, I'll stick to regular old ink blending with brushes or foam blenders. But thanks so much for sharing these ideas!

      LOL! I like what you did there.... It's taken me a while to really warm up to my gel plate, and I think this is the easiest most intuitive technique with it for card makers who are (like me) a little nervous about 'mixed media' techniques, but I'm warming up to those too! Thanks so much for watching!

    I wonder what it would look like, if you use the brayer directly on the card stock after you picked up Inc from the gel
    Plate.

      I know, right?! lol! I'm not sure why I didn't think of that, but I'll definitely be giving it a try.

    I like the gel blending. I really also liked the solar paste I have never tried that but I will. What brushes did you use? Ty

    • @ardyth
      @ardyth  Před rokem +1

      For blending I used the Altenew small blending brushes. They are the ones I use most. For applying the solar paste, I used Scrapbook . com domed foam blenders. There should be links to both in the video description. Thanks for watching!

    Making sure you used up all that solar paste made me laugh. Waste not, want not, which is another reason I have so many backgrounds laying around. I can't seem to just wipe up my ink from the mat. I have to smoosh some card into it so I can use it all up. I'm getting better at ink blending but maybe this method will encourage me to do more. Also, I do love "making my own cardstock" by swinking my ink pad over the edges of the card base for my frames. So easy to get just the color I want/need. I like all the backgrounds and the cards, too.

    I love the look of blended panels, but I cannot do it because of carpel tunnel. This method allows me to make blended panels.

      @@ardythdo you have trouble with the turntable being higher up with the side of your hand on the edge? Getting my gel plate out! Lol

    • @ardyth
      @ardyth  Před rokem +1

      @@Dotalina33 that is a really interesting question that made me get it out to see! It's only about 3/4" above my glass mat, and I do not feel uncomfortable. Maybe like writing on a pad of paper, rather than flat on your desk (just thinking of a comparison you can try to see what you think). I've used it for both ink blending and for copic colouring and do not remember ever feeling like the height was a problem. Hope that's helpful!
