Hey Simon! I have a question for you, how do you store your foam pads that you've used but not ready to toss out yet? I have these same blending tools, & I've been keeping them in a ziplock baggy inside a pouch with the blending tool - would you say that's a good idea or bad idea?
Hmmm... that’s a good question. You can store them underneath you ink pad with tape or Velcro. Or just store them in little plastic bags with the color in it. :)
@@simon.hurley Thank you so much for the reply! 😊
I haven't really tried blending...I have to watch your videos more and get some tools!
Thanks for the tips! I agree about your card stock. I also agree with others about the flimsy backing on the foam now. I wish Ranger would go back. I wouldn’t mind paying a little more.
Excellent tips, now convince Ranger to switch back to the thicker backing on the foam pads. I love the technique with your Flower Garden stamp ❤️
Thank you so much! This video was very helpful. My favorite tip was that the sponge works better when well saturated with color. I also loved seeing your final technique of using the water on the background stamp. Looks fantastic!
I used your tip today! I needed to ink a bright color through a stencil, and swiping the blending tool across the ink pad worked like a charm. It came out exactly the way I wanted...hot pink polka dots on white cardstock. Thanks!
I just need to tell you how amazing your stark white card stock is! I am new to ink blending - I have struggled to get a smooth blend around the edges / almost speckled - it just wasn’t absorbing the ink - I have watched so many videos & bought numerous card stocks & just not getting a smooth saturated edge & gradient blends. I was really about to give up. I watched this video & ordered your stark white card stock as a final last result. What a game changer! I am amazed at how beautifully my ink blending is now!!!! Fully saturated along the edges, not speckled with the white coming thru. And after I sat it aside & came back later the blend is so beautiful! I just can’t believe my issue was the wrong card stock & all the other recommended card stocks just weren’t working. Your card stock is amazing! Thank you so much for your videos!
Hi Simon. I love your channel. I have avoided blending inks for as long as I could because I didn't know how to do it. You have helped me lots. Thank you.
Love the short takes videos! Every little tip you share makes a big difference for those of us learning a lot of techniques all at once! Thanks much!
Oh my gosh, that paper after you took that stamp off!!! LOVED IT. ❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️
😁
Thanks for all of the great tips, Simon! Love your Flower Garden stamp and your bright colors of ink!
Simon, you are a joy to watch
Great tips Simon. I get better results when I am using a glass mat or a non stick surface under my project. My blending tools just glide over my card stock with ease.
Interesting im going to try that.
Thanks for the tips, Simon. I saw some of the mistakes I was making in your demonstrations. I have those ink blending tools and no other crafter has ever explained so well how to attach the foams or load them with ink. I'm definitely going to give your tips a try and hopefully I will get better results when I ink blend.
I was amazed at your blending with the Guppy ink. As you kept blending, the inner circle got darker and the outer edge was lighter. Beautiful!
I'm still fairly new to card making and now just moving onto inking / creating my own background so before I even touched my new ink pads & blending tool, I watched this video. Fantastic tips which were instantly beneficial for my first attempt. I love your videos; they're succinct, well explained and I love your artistic style. You are always my first go-to when looking for ideas & techniques 🙂
These were amazing tips, all of them, but my favorite thing was how you put water on a stamp and pressed your inked paper down on it, that was simply amazing!
You are a miracle maker! I learned so much from this video! Thank you!♡♡♡
Thanks so much Elizabeth! :)
Watch All of his video's, I'm new to this and I'm learning so much from him. :)
Simon is really good for beginners: not too long and uncomplicated. You know you can do at what home what he is doing on the screen and the result will be yours and fabulous.
Thanks for the tips! Your title grabbed me because that’s what I think every time I blend....I look at it and think “that sucks”, 😳
I am the same way. I have learned to go with what ink I lay down, the beauty of collage stamping is knowing the inking mistakes are usually covered. 😁
I LOVE the background water stamping. A little something to try with my background stamps. The Ranger foam blender replacements are my favorite. I discovered recently that my most used foams need replacing--the replacement packs are awesome because they have twenty or so blender foams.
So true, my blending does suck. Lol thanks for all the tips!
As a newbie to cardmaking, thank you for these tips. Very helpful!! 👍 Cheers! 👍
Thanks Simon! Love your videos...and your products! The names on the ink are so perfect!
Thanks simon. Those were great tips. Really helpfull 😊
Well once again I have learned something new..keep up the great videos.
Still new to making cards this way so the tips are a huge help, thanks! Love the trick with the stamp!
Great tips Simon, sadly Ranger now have super thin pads and flimsy with the blender tool duos, which are no where near as good as the black backed, foam. Hopefully they go back to the black backed ones. Thanks for your blending tips.❤️
Ranger sells full sheet ink foam. It is for creating your own ink pads. I love it, though it is pretty thick. You might be able to cut it into circles and use for blenders. My blender squares (non- handled) have a rounded circle with foam between it and the hook (Velcro) to hold the blender foam. The foam gives the blender base a little cushion.
Saturated foam pads help immensely with ink blending. Tapping off excess ink is a thing I do aswell. If I need some more, I can pick up the previous excess ink from my surface because I use a glass mat. Zero waste that way.
Last one and I don't know if it is the Simon Hurley ink quality or if it is the size of the ink pad (before I always bought ink cubes i.e. distress ink and Altenew) but ink blending seems easier with bigger ink pads. Maybe better saturation of the foam pad?
I've found that stamping works better, too, with a full-size ink pad. I personally think it's because the cubes just don't hold enough ink.
Thank you for the Tips
Thanks you fo the tip
Thanks for the Great Tips
I like to use my inks with glycerine! It makes the blending even easier!
How do you use glycerine to ink blend?
Yasineyra I would also like to know how you use glycerine. Thanks!
Just add a tiny drop and work it into the ink blending sponge, then add your colour. Doesn't work with oxides but it does work with inks.
Yasineyra thank you for explaining.
Thanks for the information 😆
I appreciate this video so much! You can always learn something new and that I did, thank you Simon!
Great tips, thank you so helpful
Thank you for the tips👍Would this work with all kind of ink pads
Thanks for these tips, I have a hard time getting in onto my foam pad, not I know how to do it much easier.
Yay! So glad you learned from the video Kim. Hugs🤗
Those iguanas on your shirt are dope!
I agree with the glycerine technique below 😃a teeny tiny bit. Also I have found that Spectrum Noir blending foams works much better and smoother than the Ranger foams! I wonder if this is due to Ranger foams made to "distress" ? Or if it's just the different chemical make up of the different brands foam. I tried a generic brand too and those are different as well. So I like to use the spectrum noir foam for all my ink pad brands 🤩 thanks Simon!
Thank you for all the tips
So helpful thanks Simon
Thanks very helpful
Thank you !!! This helped me so much !! ♥️
this is a year old but it's funny how pertinent it is for me today. I am not new to card making but I've lost my mojo! now I have more tools but I am not ink blending well at all! I just tried coloring a stamped turtle and said, "gosh I suck at ink blending and coloring" and I googled coloring turtles and found this video first. which is ironic. funny ....
I love your videos, you are really helpful
I’ve seen alcohol based inks for resin. Can these be used on paper and card or are they just for resin?
Does the ink soak through the back on the Simon Hurley cardstock?
Nice tips Simon. 👍
What is it about your paper that differs; Simon Hurley card stock not so easy to buy here in Australia. ( this May sound “tight” but delivery horrific to us here Downunder!)
We cant get it but you can order from scrapbook.com.
Craft online has all the inks and stamps.... i just put in an order today
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Hello I am in need of help and was wondering if you could help Me! Do you know if the big plus die cut fits to cut on the platinum spellbinders machine? Thank you.
What is the craft sheet you are using in this video?
Are you coming out with ink cubes? Please!
Simon, do you know if there is a black perfect pearls? I have been looking and can't seems to see one.
Ahahaha I love this title it's totally speaking to me 😅😂😍
Lol! glad you found it helpful :)
@@simon.hurley when you lifted that paper off the stamp - you should have seen my face! 😮💆🏼👀😍😂 that was an AWESOME trick, beautiful results! You're a genius - but you don't need me to tell you that! 😁
YES. I felt the same way. I am trying that today. (I loved that stamp, too)
Love the T-shirt! From a UK dudette
Do you have to wait a few minutes before mixing other colors?
Love my Tee...
I love the name Midnight Snack, ha ha
