Condolences to the families and friends of the people who lost their lives.
I am honestly shocked that there weren’t more casualties looking at all the damage that was done.

@@gremlinuk1968, I understand from what I heard from the news that the drivers either didn't know the weather or came upon it and realized they couldn't slow down enough/stop their vehicle.

CB radio may not have prevented it but it should be mandatory on every truck. Communication. Cops have communication, planes have communication, trains have communication. R. I.P to those who lost thier life. Wouldn't you like to have a heads up about what's going on ahead of you. By 2 to 5 miles. You can get on for 20 bucks or 500. Save my but many a days. Most old schooler have them. Mind is 32yrs old cobra 19 and i hear everything. You can't make excuse why you dont have one. It will stop alot of pile ups. People watch you because your the profession hazard lights let all around you know thiers something going on up ahead. You see further than a car. If you need someone to stop talking the word is breaker breaker. Everyone will stop for important info. Try it for 30 days. You have every right to stop a conversation on channel 19 for important information and have those drivers move to another channel. But you cant make them but if your info is important even they want to here it.

We can sit here blaming weather all we want but the sad truth is its high speeds, and bad driving. I live in colorado where we have surprisingly mild winters, black ice is common here and insurance and the police both don't find "sliding on black ice" to be a real cause of an accident. The real cause is an inexperienced driver behind the wheel going too fast

Not true at all... lmao. Come to Texas for a winter better yet for a snow storm nobody was ready for. I promise you, you wouldnt even be able to get 2 toes on the floor before falling. IM FROM NEW YORK, basically Canada where im from, ive seen more snow thN you could ever think of, SNOW IN TEXAS IS NOT THE SAME AND I PROMISE THAT. This shit was bad. Idk why people keep saying “inexperienced drivers” yall obviously stupid as fuck and i mean that with all my heart

@@TJay7777 you're definitely right. Black ice is no joke. It's not due to inexperienced drivers. It doesn't matter if you're driving at normal rate or even slower. This is the result of black ice.

I little known fact folks. A posted Speed limit ONLY applies when roads are in PERFECT driving conditions! AKA, dry.. NOT Wet, Iced over, unseen ice, AKA black Ice, Rain, snow, sleet, fog and so on. Any driver can be issued a citation for driving at the posted speed limits if the roads are only wet! Far to many people forget being allowed to legally operate a motorized vehicle is a privilege, NOT a right! Slow down and help to prevent these wrecks, deaths, Please.

the design of that highway really is stupid. There's absolutely nowhere to go incase you need room, except straight into the next guy.. also, this is a toll road. Maybe karma designed the road eh? People trying to dodge traffic.. and they're paying money to travel that road.
