@@otddetailing30 what, you just want endless Space Marines over and over again?
@@otddetailing30 Necrons are the new hotness, of course they're getting some love right now. You do you though bud.
A question for Josh!
Looking over the Necron and Space Marine codexes, we can see that design has lowered the power level of certain things, especially army traits, when compare dto their 8th ed versions. With teh Lamden Lions, I expect that blanket -1AP to be gone ane replaced with one of the following:
1) A unit gets -1Ap on the turn it disembarks from a transport.
2) Any to-hit rolls in the shooting phase of a natural 6 generate an additional -1 AP
3) Any attacks made in the shooting phase at half range or less get -1 AP.
Of those, which would you prefer, or would you stick them on the bench and choose another force after their huge bonus shrank?
Much obliged, and I look forward to more games from y'all!
Any Batrep that Luca does is just... enjoyable. His attitude and demeanor is great for casual story driven games that are compelling to watch.
He's also clear and consise with whats going on! I'd battle him every day if I was forced to.
Doom Stalkers always have 4+ BS no matter bracket and They are monsters
It was pretty painful when they cut the video to check their profile and still got it wrong
I thought some kind of errata came out and changed it when I saw them do that but guess just a mistake
does vehicle facing matter for weapons in 9th edition?
@@ssvishnov nope
@@notabot8107 typical MWG batrep🤣
Noo lukaaa , the doomstalker never downgrade their bs !!
That’s what I said..... it hurt so bad....
Right! I run 2 of them myself with the doom ark , behind a Cadillac command barge 😂
Forgot about ballistic for a minute and thought you were saying they were bullshit good or something
Regardless, "downgrade one's BS" will now be added to my lexicon
There's a few things that I noticed you've gotten wrong about the doomstalkers:
1) their BS doesn't degrade
2) You don't have to pay for the immortals to fire overwatch to be able to fire OW with the doomstalkers
3) Your doomstalkers can fire overwatch again, even if the unit being charged is within engagement range of another enemy unit
The reasons that doomstalkers are just that good right here..
To see scions charging is a lifetime event.
Tempestus Scions are cool and all but they will never replace the kasrkins in my heart.
I miss Kasrkin too :( I tend to use the models still and run them as scions
They'll never replace my Elysian Drop Troopers. *Glares at scions knock off airborne rules*
does vehicle facing matter for weapons in 9th edition?
@@ssvishnov not for a long time sadly, I miss the old facing rules for weapons and vehicle armour
@@glynrh8892 You might be in for a surprise.
I am simple xenos hierophant. I see Necron battle report, I click Necron battle report.
ah, a man of necrodermis I see.
I am pretty sure u dont have to pay a CP for allowing the doomstalker(s) to shoot overwatch. AFAIK they can shoot ANY time without cost as long as they are in 6" range of the charged target and are not, of course, bound into combat.
Awesome Battlerep. I just love how Luka is never ever salty, its so fun to watch!
"can fire Overwatch at the charging unit as if it were also a target", I'd think you still need to declare Overwatch with the stratagem and pay the cp for it. The Doomstalkers just don't have to be a target of the charge.
You can’t pay 1 and over watch with 4 units. Doom stalkers, much like most tau, always get to over watch for free, if they or nearby friends get charged
If you read the entry for Overwatch it basically says, some units can fire overwatch using a special rule instead of the strat. If they have one they can fire.
@@tzeentchian Yeah, don't know why I typed it that way, since only one unit gets it via the strat. That said, the Doomstalker is quite a bit different than the Tau one from the FAQ. Tau specifically spell out that the Strat isn't involved and how they can overwatch. Doomstalker just acts "as if it were also the target of the charge", rather than just saying it can use Overwatch when charged.
@@vocenoctum2046 The Doomstalker rule says it can fire Overwatch at the charging target in addition to any other overwatch. No other overwatch is necessary to trigger it, but it doesn't stop it either. No strat needed. Otherwise it would say that they may use the overwatch strategic whatsit, when a friendly unit is charged. It also triggers when a friendly unit within 6" is charged, which includes itself, like almost all old aura effects.
No need to pay cp to ignore the negatives for shooting at the knight. The knight has to many wounds "aircraft unit or a unit with
18 or more wounds"
Thanks for the battle reports guys. Good distraction from crazy times.
This was a really good one with two amazing armies and a good narrative. Well done!
Still trying to get use to Luka's "normal" hair color.
I really love the battle map overlays and mission explanations you guys have started adding to the beginning. I think they're really cool.
As a little polish thing, though, I would probably reframe the photos so that you don't crop out the tops of terrain pieces when you display the terrain. Let them pop a bit. Likewise when adding the deployment overlays. It's probably really fiddly and not practically scalable, but it would be such a professional looking detail.
To clarify - I mean let the terrain "hang" off the side of the map view
Luka is the MOST Canadian ever.
Josh: Do you like this?
Luka: No, but yes, but no, but I'm sure they had a very good reason so yes?
I don't often comment but I'm fairly certain that the Canoptek Doomstalker's brackets decrease its WS not its BS.
Holy crap I just started watching but this is a cool necron list!!
I really like the background music you guys are using in this video. Giving off some major Skyrim vibes.
Fun batrep guys! Thanks!
I love this Josh's army looks so cool :D
Luka made more 4++ than I can make 3+! Crazy, crazy!
"I hope this works"
Spoken like any guardsmen ever chosen to take the plasma gun
Thanks for this video.
Overlord, Lord and Royal warden move: 6" ;-)
So no one's going to mention how those awesome looking Scions look like the Kerberos Panzer Cops from Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade?
This battle wouldve sounded like a Firework stand blowing up in the distance
i am greatfull the lore luka put into all of this but half a hour in !
Thumps up for Tauroxes
Give those awesome Transport/Attack Vehicles some Love Guys!
Love the dynasty narrative!
You two are my favorites guys
Those terrain cannons would be cool doomstalker "count as" units. 😅
1:14:22 The Predator 1 reference killed me! hahaa
Let’s go Scions, favorite guys
This is some a really awesome Necrons army, is there any chance we could get a lore video with a list of how he built his army?
Good stuff guys
Are those alternate scions? Feel kind of like they look a little different than normal... if they are could you tell me where you guys got them, been looking to get a alternate scions army
Sadly, Doomstalkers are Monsters, not Vehicles. Doesn't matter for Bring It Down, but definitely matters for those dynasty abilities.
Monster or vehicle for bring it down
@@Tenshiheishi Yeah, hence me saying it doesn't matter for Bring It Down.
Ye pretty strange pick for dynasty
Now I really want to see the MONOLITH!
HAVE to have Lychguard whenever a Warlord is present, I agree! They are the royal bodyguard. The Lord would be naked without them. Also means you can charge in praetorian style with the Lord at the centre, radiant with glorious elan!
4:00
I know why tesla is more expensive. The Silent King gives full re-rolls to hit in the shooting phase. Tesla gets a lot stronger when you can reroll all your dice that aren't 6s
32:40
Overlords move 6" now.
Don’t you ignore dense cover penalty if you’re within 3 inches of the terrain?
What an honorable dynasty!
the necrons are cool it is cool too see soem good necrons i mean you know good
Hmm... 7:20am... teleworking. Yep, watching this.
Would really like to see necron warriors in ghost arcs list. Maybe Flayers and go Sautek with it?
My mahn Luca, MTG ftw my dude
Nightbringer needs a new model. He is a little small for such a beast
Compare him to gaz and just laugh at the face they were released with new rules within a few months of eachother
The Nightbringer and Deceiver are both out of stock and over priced on ebay, but they are also both in need of a new model. So I'm torn, having neither. If they come out with new models, they may bump them up in detail and price to where I dont' want to spend, but the Deceiver is a bit too goofy to spend $50 on...
@@vocenoctum2046 if you would have start collecting Necrons 9m-1yr ago you could find all those models for 20$ a pop an 20 warriors for 20$ right before covid took full form
I suggest picking a cool army that isn't meta, I picked up 1850pts of custodians for 185$ at the start of covid. (Was gifted 2 new boxes of guardians as well)
My point is , start collecting a second army that isn't popular. It's usually easy
@@Makarislethal Yeah, I know I'm getting Necron's at the worst time, but I like the idea of the necrons. I don't like Chaos or Orcs, or Tyranids, and aeldari have a lot of swing in their model ranges. Tau I just don't know anything about, really. I don't want to buy books to see if I like them.
Either way though, Nightbringer is a decent looking model, but not an Imprisoned Star God, IMO. (like Void) and Deceiver isn't even a good looking model. :)
My second army would be Iron Ravens, but I do get what you mean, as a third army, strike when the prices are low and the meta is getting rid of X because Y is hot now.
*cries in Be'lakor*
I freaking LOVE Scions.
Im new to the game and im wanting to play necrons, the army in this video looks cool and id love to work up to it but do i need to use the dynasty that is used in the video or can i use a different one?
So, with Warhammer 40k the way you build a 'Dynasty' in this case is when building your army you can either pick one of the pre-set dynasties (Novokh, Nephrekh, Nihilakh, Sautekh, Mephrit, or Szarekhan) OR build your own Dynasty like in this game (more rules about what each ability does in the Necron codex). So you can pick whatever you'd like, or what feels most thematically appropriate!
Those are some nice lookin' Taurexes.
Thanks I painted them!! Josh chose such a cool scheme for them though I cant take all the credit :)
i actually don't think the doom stalker is really that unfairly costed they could probably stand to be 10pts more expensive but if they aren't cheap enough compared to a doomsday ark then it becomes less easy to justify them.
Love to see my Scions, but sadly, this is about what I expected
tbf running hot shot volley guns on the scion squads is just such a bad move compared to plasma.
literally the most Canadian Necrons I've ever seen. But there is nothing wrong with that.
The BS3+ variant effectively costs 175 pts per stalker if you go all out and bring 3. Not like that technomancer is doing anything else other than babysiting your stationary artillery ;)
That price per model goes up to 190 if its just two stalkers and reaches a silly 235 if you only buy one.
I like your dynasty, it's a lot like mine.
I’m currently a big AoS player. However I originally started the Warhammer hobby with 40K. I started out with Eldar and then Astra Militarum. Then I started playing fantasy right before the end times and my army were the dwarfs (which I miss terribly as The fyreslayers nor overlords quite do it for me). With that being said, I am wanting to get back into 40K and am debating on starting either eldar or militarum tempestus. Any tips?
Luka, Nightbringer can use 2 powers each turn, one is his unique Gaze of Death plus the one you can pick.
he knows that I think, it was more an issue of range I think.
That battlemap was ridiculously small, though. You may as well have just rolled 100 dice each and the one with the highest wins the battle. As someone who is used to historical skirmish games, I find the lack of space and movement to be a problem in 40k. Love the lore, figures and armies though!
Nice game! I hadn't been able to watch in a while since about midway through 8th edition.
Any thoughts on covering some Battletech, since the new Kickstarter is getting delivered? Even an intro-tech game with last year's Game of Armored Combat box would be cool.
Man, that Doomstalker blowing up on Turn 2 was brutal!
Cant find anything in the codex, so is it correct that crypteks don´t give +1 to reanimation anymore?
Yes. The only thing giving +1 to RP is the reanimator.
@@EliasKnutsen aaaand it's really crap.
Mind, the relic reanimation orb does too.
Can I ask a question? What was the reason to put so many shooting troops in transport? And don’t use their good guns from turn one?
Protect them if Necrons take first.
Those dice rolls, ouch xD
I love the scions but man do GW need to release some more models (or at least units) for them. 3 kits for an entire army just isn't enough
I just started a army and added crusaders . They're trash but.... I didn't want just scions just mostly
seconded. is there any stuff in lore that could be forgeworlded or homebrewed?
I would love to see some of the old elysian atvs and some sentinels as fast attacks and some rapiers in the heavy slots as picks in a scion codex.
Ha try playing inquisition
Doomstalkers are king, plan on having 3 in a game soon too! Great batrep guys! 🙌
Dont forget the technomancer with canoptek control node :)
@@jantrupinic17 Oh it's in there, don't you worry!!! x
@@wannabewargamers1684 I'm imagining the cryptek with a playstation controller 'so I push x to blow this tank up...oh nice'
I love the paint scheme, narrative, hosts, especially the sportsmanship -everything! BUT, the music puts me to sleep every time!
Sometimes reasonable dynasties must do unreasonable things
Dynasty trait benefits vehicles, but the Doomstalkers are monsters and the stalker is a dynastic agent so doesn't benefit from the trait
And it doesn't degrade on balistic skill
Only dynastic agent, ctan, and things from auxiliary detatchments do not gain the benefit.
The result of this match was a foregone conclusion before it even started, Guard is superweak this edition, Scions even more so and Knights are also a low-tier faction, meanwhile Necrons are enjoying that sweet new codex.
Wow that Turn 1 luck was painful to watch
Few things about the doomstalkers. One they aren't vehicles so they don't benefit from Stellar Alignment Strat, Second their BS doesn't degrade, and third they can fire overwatch multiple times and the unit they are firing for doesn't need to fire overwatch themselves.
22:40 That move O_O , shoot me plz !!!
I like the Necron army, but I would drop the buckets, and turn the Warden into a Chronomancer. Then add another to the Lychguard to increase it's survivability. But i assume they didn't because the Chronomancer is not available to buy, yet.
I wish I had access to Chronomancers! Many lists to play.
I clicked on the video not for the necrons. I clicked on the video because I knew WHO was playing the necrons
the nine lives of the cat with Luka...
His luck just doesn't die!
Luka is relic of time
Important question Luka. To what Praetor do you owe your allegiance?
IMOTEKH
Did GW make a change to reanimation protocols?
The new book says "[after you succeed with enough dice to reanimate a single model] you then reduce the number of dice in that pool by a number equal to wounds characteristic of the reanimated model and repeat this process until either there are no more reassembling models, or the number of dice remaining in the pool is less than the wounds characteristic of any of the reassembling models"
This is like the 6th or 7th game I've seen that people haven't been reanimating right.
So I am fairly sure Solar Pulse doesn't negate dense cover. Solar pulse specifies "The target does not receive the benefits of cover against that attack" but it looks to me like Dense Cover affects your model, not your opponents. Dense cover at no point uses the term "benefits of cover" like "light cover" and "heavy cover" do and the second paragraph says "Models do not suffer this penalty to their hit rolls when targetting models with more than 18 wounds or aircraft" indicating your model suffers the penalty, it doesn't say Aircraft and models with more than 18 wounds don't receive the benefits of dense terrain.
Under the rare rules section of the Core Rulebook it mentions ignoring Dense cover in addition to the Light/Heavy cover bonuses if the enemy unit being targeted "Does not receive the benefits of cover". If a rule says "Does not receive the benefits of cover to its saving throw" that's when it only ignores Light/Heavy cover.
@@lukapavicevic335 wow, I didn't even see that section. Thanks for clarifying. That sounds so powerful. Wait so Kastellan Robots with Phosphor ignore dense cover too? That's so scary
@@godlyslothman It is scary indeed. Thoughts like that keep me awake at night.
@@lukapavicevic335 Well I'll just have to use them soon to show that off
I believe the reason for smaller boards is for ppl to play on ''normal'' kitchen tables
41:50 vehicles cant get cover. right?
The nightbringer should have been able to attack right after the knight(heres to hoping they dont realize this later)
Does the doom stalker being a monster and NOT a vehicle kindof negate the pont of the army? Shouls have been doomsday arks.
It negates the point of choosing „interplanetary invader“, but that dynastic trait did not come into play anyway as none of the vehicles was ever in melee. In regard of Doomsday arks: yes and no. Yes for the dynastic trait, but no for the crypteks control rode. Imo just take another dynastic trait, easiest change to fit.
explosions!!!!
Is Luka's tattoo for mechanicus or phyrexia?
Pretty sure it's Phyrexia
Hooyah MTG
Give us the silent King!
Stormtroopers vs robots its a lot like the clonewars
im pretty sure you don't need to pay a CP to let the doomstalker overwatch for other units. they just get to if they are within 6
ha luka is a MTG player that explains the Phyrexian symbol tattoo
i completely get it may be out of range but never using the technomancers rites of reanimation is also kind of a waste, bring back them core models. Would work on at least 1 immortal at a time
Were the Taurox's damaged? They hit on 3s
they usually did, but some were firing through forests and the other times they were wounded, I think.
@@johnj.spurgin7037 gotcha! Thanks for the heads up
if only Josh replaced all tauroxes with Scions he would easily win. Josh you need way more plasma like plasma on top of plasma. And Tauroxes as fun they feel you should bring max 1-2 with Gatling.
Gatling are kinda trash now with so many units being T5 and having good armor or easy access to cover saves. I built mine with the battle cannons and auto cannons. Missles are to pricey. Thou I did. Magnitzie mine
@@Makarislethal no, Taurox is trash. Gatling in lambdan lions is perfect anti horde weapon. The only worth using weaon if you must use Taurox.
A good guy necron dynasty in this grim dark universe? I don t think so baby !!!!
Cant vehicles and monsters always shoot in combat now?
did luka forget to fire with some of his imortals and royal warden in turn 1?
I also didn't see him raise one of the fallen immortals from the technomancer ability. He said he was within 6 at the start.
@@deathbyvx2956 doesn't that only work on warriors?
@@johnj.spurgin7037 Nope any core unit unless the Technomancer has a Phylacterine Hive then it's any model with Reanimation Protocols. However the effect of the resurrection is stronger on Warriors.
Those 4++ saves tho
I am on a war hammer binge right now
20:51 hahah lost my shit
Somebody loves them doomstalkers...
Wow, this was certainly an _explosive_ game. Those Doomstalkers are a tad undercosted for 3+/4++ living metal, their Tau overwatch and the weapon they carry but I can't think of a reason not to bring them over the Doomsday Ark unless you're certain that you'll need the quantum shielding.
Hiding spoilers inside the see more.
I'll be honest, when I saw the Knights I sort of went 'ugh it's gonna be one of those objective chasing games' internally but glad to see I was wrong there. That said I do think that's the way the game would have gone if Josh's dice would have cooperated. Also random thought, is it possible that the etching of the beard icon affects the weighting of the dice enough to influence the rolls?
I kinda feel like they're super pushed right now, and DDAs should be brought down in cost, while they're bumped up. There's almost no reason to bring DDAs at their current exorbitant price.
I can't believe Immortals are now consider a standard troop choice...... They should be considered elites.......
Superior Artisans Necron dynastic code bit rerolls a single *wound*, no hitrolls
Luka probably got Superior Artisans mixed up with Masters of the Martial, which DOES grant a single hit roll whenever a unit attacks. Easy enough to swap over.
