    To clarify a few points, the A6 blocks denoted the 9.0:1 CR (NA), while the A8 blocks denoted the 7.8:1 CR (Turbo). Later 'Series 2' A6 Blocks had drilled and tapped provision for oil and water feed and oil return for the turbo.

      Also the series 1 and 2 r31 boxes have a different 5th gear to the vl box, the r33 na manual doesn’t have the revised synchros like the rb20det box, also the tailshafts are the same length between the small boxes and the big boxes like the 25det and 30et boxes, they just use a different yoke, good video though 👍🏻

    This is extremely helpful for me right now. Just picked up a project R31 wagon. Factory vl manifold with a rb25 turbo bolted to it, massive front mount intercooler and an oldschool nistune chip but its lacking an exhaust and a tune as far as I can tell and a few other loose ends tied up. Just need to find someone near the Nth east cost of NSW/south qld to tune it

    Link ecu goes straight into factory ecu housing much better ecu and come with base tunes also you might want to look at the new 30/76 Garret turbos much higher hp rating than the old oringinal 30/76 my vl was the gtx 30/76 rated for 550hp at the crank my rb30 vl was making 465hp at 6500rpm on 22psi plenty of turbo left with lpg r33 manual box now has the latest gtx30/76 series 2 rated at 750hp

      Leprechaun Laboratory no it’s the gtx30/76r series 2 but it also has a 9 blade compressor wheel much more efficient than my old 11blade wheel and slightly different front compressor housing not a lot of difference to the new g series but now I should be seeing same power at lower boost of same boost roughly 50-65hp more and lower egt

    • @jeremyhall964
      @jeremyhall964 Před 3 lety +1

      Sv6 swap would be far more than a 3k budget. Mounts, tailshaft, gearbox custom loom, exhaust, left hand starter conversion are all things to consider.
      Rb25 long motors are 3k minimum.
      A vlt manifold (150$) gtr 444cc injectors (300$) external gate and fab work to make it work on stock manifold (100$) t04e/3076 ebay special 100-300$ (I have a turbonetics bb and was 150$) nistune (300$) all the other money would be in your cooler piping and exhaust fabrication and dyno time. Thats only 1k in bits.

    • @anthonywhelan8373
      @anthonywhelan8373 Před 4 lety

      Bud not worth going DOHC head unless you want to rev it past 7000rpm and mKe over 500hp easily and go for the new gtx30/76 series two rated now for 750hp from Garret much more efficient and good for 30psi

    • @BoostGumps
      @BoostGumps  Před 4 lety

      Yeh mate done a few. Turbo selection generally remains the same and is always dependent on cam choice. If you retain vvt in the twin cam you can afford to go a little bigger in housing size over the sohc which can allow for more peak power. Either case you can still go 7500rpm before the rb30 rod bolts start to get unhappy.
      Personally a lot of work for little gain imo. If you already had a 25 powered car it would be worth doing to get that extra .5L. But if you already have an RB30 powered car just leave it SOHC 👍

    • @BoostGumps
      @BoostGumps  Před 4 lety +1

      Adrian Morosin both great ecu’s mate. Link is probably more capable. But the elite is better value for money in my opinion with built in MAP sensor etc

    • @imperativetosuccess
      @imperativetosuccess Před 4 lety

      Leprechaun Laboratory thanks for your input! Just out of curiosity as a tuner what would you chose out of the two?

    • @BoostGumps
      @BoostGumps  Před 4 lety +2

      Adrian Morosin very much depends of your end goals of your setup! The haltech is a little easier to navigate and a little more user friendly. So if you are interested in starting to poke around and learn to tune a bit yourself I would recommend the Haltech.
      The other advantage is the 750 is capable of full sequential ignition and injection on a 6cyl. The Atom can only run a 6 cyl in Batch Fire/wasted spark.
      For these lower end ECU’s i generally recommend the haltech. Once you get into the higher end ecu’s the Link capability becomes a real big advantage. But then things like Motec and Emtron are a step ahead again.
      Another really good value for money ecu i would recommend is Adaptronic. Once again quite a bit more capable than Haltech, also once again not as user friendly.

    • @imperativetosuccess
      @imperativetosuccess Před 4 lety

      Leprechaun Laboratory thanks heaps for your help! I think I’ll have to go with the 750 as it has the option of sequential fire and has more user friendliness as you said!
