Did you know? Also this video was a lot of effort so I would appreciate a like!
i cant help but wonder if there are doors that are only accessable at this time of night. motherfucking dwarf moondoors.
I realized (discovered) that too last week when i remembered right , since then i try to find out what more happens or not happens at that special time and if there is a connection to St. Trina or maybe Rannis Dark moon (remember she give us the bell while other npcs are asleep)
I couldnt stop thinking about it and remembered something else what bothers me: Godwyn and Ranni (part of) died at the same time , but do the the assasins of the black blade split ? or stop (influence) time or someone else to be at 2 places at the same time . What if that was exactly the time when Godwyn was killed and thats why the world "stops" kind of ? It would be great if there is really more behind it. Thank you for making a video about that. maybe we all together can solve this.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍it could fit with Kuckuckstime too
Had no idea!
Thank you! I've played for almost 150 hrs and I never knew this!
There are definetly more stuff hidden in late night time of day. For example - during late night Gurranq can be seen howling outside of the sanctuary
Whaaa. I gotta see that for myself. Thought that was story related when I saw it so I didn’t bother him 😂
What. Neat. I never seen him doing that.
@@chillax319 I've heard him howl before when I was skipping time, but I hastily went to the grace and when I came out he was no longer howling. Thought I missed some really important one-time story interaction... good to know he'll howl there as long as I don't kill him.
Oh i saw that but thought it was just that he moved bc it was scripted
Is that how that happens?! I keep seeing it in videos but no one ever elaborates
I encountered sleeping mausoleums in my playtroughs and always thought they were bugged out somehow. Never know this was an actual thing
FUCKIN SAME!!!
Same. I thought I watched one doing it’s animation cycle for too long and it just bugged out or straight up ceased
Yep, same here
same lol
Lies
I honestly never thought that a time lapse of the fog in the overworld from a birdseye view would look so natural and beautiful. The amount of detail in this game is truly astonishing.
Literally just yesterday I was wondering why the mausoleum in weeping peninsula randomly S T O P P E D. Like it just ceased all movement as if the game had frozen.
Also, did you ever get to fight a boss during a sunset? I swear they are too short for how beautiful the game looks during it. Got to kill Margit during a coop session with a sunset going on, and it was something else.
Glad someone brought this up. Sunset feels like the intended time to clear stormveil . A shame it’s a time of day we cant swap to.
@@yamnbam4346 honestly we should have more than "quartet segments of naptime time travel".
Give us the option to have a list of 8 time periods, or maybe a sun dial (circular time menu) to easily choose a closer time.
Fromsoft would never give us the convenience of picking a specific hour tho lol.
Are you talking about that huge four legged thing? I just saw it in the distance when I played yesterday, I haven't faced it yet but I knew it moved from the tip screens yet the one I saw was frozen solid
I fought the guy with the grafted blade during the sunset and killed him first try as a fair level (I think 30-40?) it gave me BB flashbacks
I've fought Godfrey during sunset. The same is true for Morgott, but I love how that boss arena looks at that time of day.
if you wait to attack night cavalry until just before dawn, it doesn't despawn, it goes still. you can attack and kill it with little to no retaliation.
New strat acquired!
Yeah , and it runs from you
GASP, you cheatin mofo…
I’m just kidding, I cheesed my way through every boss in the game!!! Although I admittedly didn’t exploit any glitches. Just crazy-spammed a few of the cheapest weapons and Ash of War’s in the game
I'll save this for the next time I have to deal with the duo on Consecrated Snowfield
Dude I once fought the Night’s cavalry in Limgrave at late night and when morning came he just jumped off the bridge and rode away
That's actually really cool, not very useful perhaps, but knowing these things do have to rest makes me acknowledge them as some weird form of life.
A nice little detail either way.
As someone who spent a ton of time trying to figure out more about the clock in Eternal Ring, the clock in Elden Ring is quite interesting to me. Glad to know they added more nuance than just the "nighttime bosses and enemies".
In Eternal Ring, I'm fairly certain Fromsoft had some, or all enemies, have a "weak time of day", based on the enemy's elemental weakness and which element the time of day was. Enemies take more damage during their weak time of day. It'd be interesting to know if any enemies in Elden Ring have a similar change in defense or offense numbers.
The weakness to a time of day thing seems kind of brilliant. Souls games are known for their difficulty, and while I'm not one of those advocating for the addition of an easy mode, I do think it would make for an interesting mechanic to have some very specific steps you could take to make a boss or tough enemy much easier. It allows for a "play smarter not harder" style of play, where you hunt down info about the weaknesses of different enemies and the tools you need to exploit those weaknesses. For most people, it would be more trouble than just beating the boss normally, but some people would probably find this a lot more fun.
@@Greywander87 like a Witcher kinda thing. Could be interesting! Although it would probably be a divisive choice. I'd welcome any opportunities to flesh out the enemies and characters in souls games. It would probably be better if only a portion of them had a weakness/strength associated with time though, else it might feel a bit gimmicky.
Like, demi humans are stronger and more agresive at night, their eyes glow red to indicate it, good to know if you are using the very underrated demi human spirit ashes, but frankly my go to early game summon will forever be godrick knights.
Dialogue at the start of eternal ring tells you to hurry up through the first area before nightfall
The game starts in morning time of fire
Late Night is the time of water iirc.
The first dungeon has water based enemies.
Deathbirds take damage from the sun if you wait till morning to fight them without sitting on grace. (Very small amounts though)
On my latest playthrough I JUST saw this, but didn’t understand what was happening. Thought my game was broken but this makes more sense 😂
at this point after the games release i didnt think there was something someone could put on youtube that would actually surprise me. this is amazing
did you know that if you summon latenna near a direwolf, she gets on its mf back and starts shooting arrows while mobile??
I just came across this today in my new game +. I was so confused why the two mausoleums by liurnia weren't doing their usual jumping routines.
Dang, I had this theory that time moved when you died bc you were passing through the Erdtree's roots to be "reborn" and that process rook time. Would have been the deepest lore.
Time does move when your character bites it.
I had the same theory! It would also explain why all the basic enemies respawn when you do: They aren't the same enemies you killed, but in the time it took for you to respawn they hired new soldiers or a different group of the same enemy wandered by.
@@saucevc8353 They are the same enemies, with death being taken out of the equation of the Lands Between it means nothing can truly die, leaving all of them to keep coming back after being "killed" once again.
@@sarkic4743 Wait really? Then what's so special about the Tarnished, if everyone can just respawn (unless you're a boss)
@@sarkic4743 The in game characters don't seem to come back to life either.
I think this mechanic is also pretty closely tied to when it rains gold and you get more runes in general.. it's always a night and feels like after playing at night for awhile
Between my 3 characters and like 500+ hours I'll be dammed. Been in late night quite a few times, never around a masaleum though. I think this is also the time of night that Maliketh moves outside of his building during the Deathroot mission? Might be wrong though. Know it's at night.
And knowing is half the battle.
I saw one not moving in my first run, but i had been exploring for a while and I didn’t think much of it. As far as i knew some walked, some jumped, some chilled so i never thought about it again either.
Well it was a very nice video Leviathan, thank you. You did a great job! How about a guide on that dungeon out on the beach, way out after you kill Radahn. It's a tough one where the enemies are all ghosts and they are fighting each other and will FUCK you up if you're not careful or a good fighter. I haven't played in a while, maybe I'll jump back in. It's such a great game, particularly once you've mastered movement and enemy engagement.
Just get gud lol, but really, you can let all those enemies fall down into the rot pool below and kill each other and die.
Pretty sure he made a video on it already
@@C0smicr3aper no way! Ok I didn't know about the rot pool, I noped out of there after about ten minutes cause I was getting smoked. Is there a lever you pull or do you kite them to it?
You talking about the War-Dead Catacombs? That was my absolute favorite rune farm before I discovered the giant rot bird underground that nets you like 28k/minute
@@adamjohnson6026 well you must be the man cause I got my pp slapped hard in there but I think I'm gonna go back for it.
Very nicely done...
Danke
at this time Miquella Dlc is accesible
was this a prediction or was miquella always the planned dlc???
Prediction but it was hella obvious
@@epicfortnitekid8536 yeah one of the few massive loose ends in the game behind a rough wall like that as well I had a feeling as soon as I killed mohg that’s where we’d end up
It's actually accessible all the time 🙃
That's super interesting, thank you!! I wonder if there are any more interactions or enemy behaviours at that time of day! :O
I dont know if it was a bug or if it was a mechanic, but i was riding around at late night when i was attacked by the death rite bird near Raya Lucaria, and it suddenly died when the sun came out. Tried it on the bell bearing hunter but it has no effect, so i thought it only worked on the deathbird because its undead (or it could have been a fall damage glitch since it was in the middle of a jumping attack)
I tried the same thing on another deathrite bird, even tho we were in the morning the game was saying "late night" and it wouldnt change, the dev must have changed it because the moment I killed him it was directly morning and not early morning
My first play, I thought "oh he must be tired from jumping around so much" lol Easy loot!
Props to you for making a video straight to the point. So tired of people stretching stuff out for the algorithm.
I knew this time of day existed for a while, especially resetting sites of grace to get enemies with gold eyes to spawn. You should make a video on how the game does that and which NPCs can spawn with them.
I've seen this and I took instant advantage . But I remember I watched some video explaining this phenomena and how to cheez certain enemies. It's cool more players to know about this hidden mechanics.
toke & smoke~! lol

I'm here at home after work , rolling one to 🚀 high
And read your comment... Cheers
That Walking Mausoleum in the snow field I called it
"THE SPIRIT OF MOTHERWILL"
The cat gag always cheers me up
From software is just so good at making those small little details that make the game soo good
The split second of that cat puking always gets me
Nice tip since you gave me that tip I will give you a tip mausoleums are extremely weak to the ( wrath of gold ) spell you can just spam it at there legs and it will take multiple skull piles off of the legs of the mausoleum lol
1:26 no way, that’s why the mausoleum I „killed“ yesterday was completely passive 😂 I thought it was bugged or something
I've seen Late Night. I farm Palace Approach Ledge-Road so much and always change the time of day to night for the bonus runes. Sometimes when I go to reset the time back to night, I see that it says Late Night sometimes. Thought it was kinda weird
I remember afking a lot and seeing them asleep before, first time I thought it was just a weird mausoleum but I kept coming across them, sometimes as they stopped moving and thought it was kinda neat, they quieted down so my room didn't sound like an earthquake.
Real question here. Why does everyone hate on enemies that make us run for our lives?? To me personally, running for your life is often even more fun than the combat.
Especially this final Walking Mausoleum. Yeah it was a real b-word, but it also reminded me of that scene in Attack on Titan where they are charging the Beast Titan. I was pretty much screaming as well the whole time. Recorded some funny ass videos with that lol
For me its because i miss dark souls and dont actually like the option to run away. I spend alot of time flailing around on torrent because i get close to my goals but theres zero strategy, im just not willing to put in the effort to go online and find whatever item i missed that will help with this one enemy on foot when i can abuse my human intellect and horse powers.
@@zachweyrauch2988 funny, my friend and I have been playing the old Dark Souls games recently. Running away is a strategy we use in those games as well lol
@@Memnoch_the_Devil honestly man glad youre going back to check. Maybe youll see what oldguy souls fans mean maybe you wont.
If youre still running away instead of just facing your demise then be patient your willpower will succumb eventually.
@@zachweyrauch2988 if you mean going back to check out the previous Soulsborne games, I’ve played and beat them all. Short of Demon’s Souls only cause I’ve never owned a system to play it on.
I’m actually going back because me and my friend who has beaten Elden Ring (up to like NG+6 or so) has only ever played DS2. Well I told him I’ve beaten everything in that game except 2/3 of the DLC’s, so we started with that game. Then I let him borrow Bloodborne, which the a-hole beat in like seven days (it took me seven years of playing off and on) and all we have left to go back and do on that one is the DLC which neither of us has beaten yet (more running and screaming for THAT f’n place lol). He borrowed Sekiro and got 2/3 of the way through, but still needs to finish that one.
But just recently I bought the two of us Dark Souls Remastered (still not sure why they call it a ‘remaster’ when all they did was port it to newer consoles and include DLC…) because he has never played before, and I myself have never owned the DLC. Plus I’ve been wanting to fight Artorias and Manus forever! Then after we beat this game, it’s on to Dark Souls 3, which is one more he has never played. Only bosses I never beat in that one were Nameless King (man, F that guy) and Darkeater Midir.
But man it’s fun to go back and play these games with all of their limitations after playing something as accessible/easy as Elden Ring. Really reminds us old FromSoft ‘veterans’ how much we took for granted in that game. Plus he’s loving the stories of these older games as much as I always have and I’m enjoying being along for the ride. I actually find myself being a lot more confident this time around. So only sometimes these days when we get super overwhelmed am I just like, “you know what, screw it. RUN!!” Lol
@Memnoch_the_Devil well man fill your boots. Hope stuff works out for you guys. Don't give up on hard bosses either, they're all beatable solo. Not sure it was worth doing, but it's possible.
I like the puking Cat. Gets me everytime. Good Content.
I see late night often when farming albanaurics. I wonder if it still counts as night in terms of the occasional enemy getting golden eyes.
Hi Leviathan, it is impressive what we can discover in Elden ring after so much time! Also i would love to find the cat clip you put in 0:55 of the video
Ima share my experience sometimes at night you gotta obtain the bird foot mark on your bar meaning you will get additional runes for killing opponents maybe it's a night mechanic or Rng thing
Lol, elden ring is so amazing for all those detail! Thanks for the discovery!
This is hilarious. I just found your channel and this video made me crack up. I checked your channel description and by the laws of CZcams, I'm obligated to subscribe.

That's awesome! I had no idea.
00:55 the cat is adorable haha
The way you say mausoleums is all I need.
Mäzïlliyumms
bro I legit thought my game was glitched when I first seen this. Good to know they get tired from walking (and jumping) around all day! I wonder if any more creatures have something like this too?
WOW now that's really secret I didn't know about, thanks for that
i experienced this and was so confused but ofc i took advantage of it in the are you demonstrated it in
I had this happen to me before the castle where the second haligtree medaillon is, I thought that it maybe glitched out because of the castle but it was at that time, because I killed the annyoing death bird before.
That "or is it" from the science videos dude cracked me up lmao
This game is amazing thanks to little thing like this. I love and hate it but in the middle of the playthrough I already miss it.
Makes you wonder what else has been coded into games we've absolutely rinsed and never realised that its an actual thing and not a bug or just missed it all together
it happened to me on ng+, but i thought the mausoleums were just working different in ng+. now i know
Trying and failing the Caelid Night’s Cavalry cheese was super annoying because I had to reset the time every time I died
Super neat, I've spent so much time in this game and had no idea that there was a late night, let alone that the mausoleums fall asleep!
Where did u get a video of the day night cycle clock? Or is it your video? I’m Just trying to get a closer look at the clock bc i think the art style on it is really cool and probably almost definitely hiding secrets i haven’t heard anyone talk about
Ooooh, that explains a lot! I saw them sleeping one time, and was never able to recreate it. Ive been wondering what that was since the game launched lmao.
"Time to break their legs" got me so hard I choked on my bread stick.
I saw this happening yesterday at the Mausoleum Compound near the Frenzied Village and thought it was a bug since they were perfectly still.
I actually came across this randomly. I just figured I got lucky with a bug or something. Glad to hear it was actually intentional.
I recently noticed that the mausoleums it Altus weren't moving when I was running by them. I just assumed the connection winged out and that they'd eventually glitch into mid jump randomly and then continue their cycle. No idea they were actually asleep haha
So THAT explains why on one of my playthroughs the mausoleum in Liurnia didn’t walk toward the cliff so I could jump on it and instead just… stood there. I thought the game was glitching or something.
It did that to me too during the day though. I think the mausoleum is literally programmed to not get near you if you're on that cliff.
That leg joke was pretty good
Neat. I've actually seen this a couple of times and just assumed it was a glitch. I figured their walk cycle A.I. just didn't load in or something lol. This info might actually be genuinely useful for dealing with the fucking orbital nuclear strike wandering mausoleum in the consecrated snowfield that fights you by overloading your CPU with projectiles and explosions, beating you by making the game crash.
I have definitely seen this, but I spend a lot of time running around without any clues what to do or where to go lol
That's pretty badass ngl. I just kinda went Leroy Jenkins mode and ran in there knocking off all of the skulls
WOOOOAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! A "secret" I actually didn't know! Kudos!
That literally just happened to me on accident I thought the bell guy glitched.
Makes sense tho since I had just killed a deathrite bird then went to where the bell thing was and it just stopped suddenly. This was seriously yesterday
This game never ceases to show a new secret
Everyone keeps talking about that mausoleum in the Snowfields. But I had absolutely no trouble with it. I beat it just like all the others. Sure it fired some projectiles at me but it wasn't really any problem at all.
The first time I ever encountered one of these they were standing still, not moving an inch. I had read one of those notes you can buy from the merchants giving a hint on how to deal with these and it said to clean up around its feet. So I started killing a bunch of the mobs around it and coincidentally the moment I killed a pack of headless ghosts, it started moving. So I kept "cleaning up around its feet" until there was nothing else to clean up and I was sooo confused why none of it worked.
Little did I know I simply encountered a mausoleum at late night and that I merely had to clean up the skulls around its literal feet.
U earned that like bravo, sir!
I actually found this one on my own was very fun finding that in the middle of the night
Sekiro?....What are you doing here? Sekijo is waiting for you.
I thought my game was broken when I find a mausoleum stopped moving, now this explains everything
Gurranq goes outside on late night and prays
ahhhh so thats why D:
I always wondered why they were stationery at a seemingly rnadom time, I tended to spend a lot of time exploring at night just because I knew night bosses were a thing and yeah saw them just not doing anything soemtiems and assuemd it was just a bug.
Wow. This is just wonderful
The last mausoleum remind me of something from global defence force games
Knowing that they bothered to create a breathing world that works on a daily cycle, and you find different things depending on the cycle, is cool as fuck.
would be kinda funny if everything just slept at this time until attacked.
Wow I didn't know that, it's actually pretty useful
I have actually noticed the time be Late Night before, but I didn’t know it actually affected some things.
I like how mean the deathbird is at the sad island place
I saw the mausoleum in liurnia not moving a few days ago. I thought they just went on powersave mode! All that stumbling around uses a lot of...whatever they eat...
Oh that explains why the mausoleum that you have to wait to walk into place in liurnia stopped just out of reach on me
Funny enough, I ran into this the first time I played the game at the first time seeing these things. Didnt even know how lucky I was
Awww they're so precious 🥲
I saw this once!
I was waiting for the Liurnia mausoleum to move closer to the spirit spring, and was so confused why it was standing completely still!
only two minutes and nine seconds and this contains quite some funny jokes and information about the game. Consider me subscribed sir !
I've seen the Mausoleum fall asleep, but I always thought it was a "regular night thing"
The ghouls in mistwood near the merchants have their eyes gliw red and start swarming you, was scary af as i was at that merchant glowing sign trying to look up what it did then i got swarmed by like 50 red eyed ghouls
Wow that makes so much sense now. I thought my game broke. I was by a mosoleum and it was just standing there😂
I wonder if that trick works on the one in I think the Consecrated Snowfield. The one that shoots magic at you even at a fat distance from it
Can you please let me know what Twilight Princess song / instrumental you used in the last chapter of this video? It’s been bothering me ever since I heard this video 😭😭
Margit does tell us to beware of the night, so I imagine there are many different things to find. Possibly even some things Fromsoft has yet to add
I learned to run through that last turtle. I used to juke the right, and ran into the bird doing it, so I wait until the last volley is shot in the air and mad dash passed it.
every single thing in elden ring has a sleep animation some are 1 of 1 animations its insane the work they put into this game
I got all walking mausoleums to bow down.
I noticed a few weeks back that the mausoleums fall asleep for a short time in the late night
2:04 that mausoleum definitely almost crashed my game
