About that line the film Edited it wrong Egon was supposed to say that line but for some reason Winston was the one that opened his mouth in the film to speak it only they had Ernie Hudson Speak under Harold Ramus' voice during that scene.
I really like Ghostbusters II - the entire courtroom scene was comedy gold and the idea of a creepy painting is genius because everybody has seen an image who seems to stare at you.

The only thing I would change about the courtroom scene is... not forgetting Winston was there (seriously, where DID he go after the ghosts appeared?), and bringing back the original VFX style. The way the beams trapped Slimer was far more visually intriguing than the way they just wrapped around the Scoleri Brothers. And they just felt more powerful in the original (not just in how much stuff they destroy LOL)

You seriously ranked these new trash reboots over Ghostbusters 2 ? Give me a break ! Frozen Empire already has lower score on IMDB than 2016 movie. At least 2016 movie is a true comedy science fiction. These new movies I can not even determine what are they ? Science fiction ? Family movie ? Fantasy ? Where is comedic part ? Name even one genuinely funny moment in Frozen Empire or Afterlife ! This Ghostbusters 2016 hate just cause it was about women is stupid.
You just can't beat the original Ghostbusters, I can't believe that it's 40 years old this year. Rest in peace, Harold Ramis, you'll be forever missed. 😇

I must admit the final sequence of Afterlife when they brought back Egon, made me sob like a baby.
I think I speak for everyone when I say: The 2016 reboot deserves to be left in the past.

Ghostbusters 2 is my personal favorite, it had more comedy & one banger of a soundtrack. And the part where they make the status of Liberty walk through New York...Classic. 🗽 👻
and for me, it felt like Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver actually had some on-screen chemistry in GB2. In the first film... Venkman just came off as creepy, and Dana was constantly turning him down... only to give him a big smooch at the end, as if he earned it? In what way did Peter change his ways to make her suddenly like him? Hell, the last time she even saw him (as herself) was by the fountain at the orchestra performance/rehearsal(?)

Real ghostbusters has a special place for me, watched that religiously as a child.
Despite the negative fan backlash, I tried to give the 2016 version a fair chance. But my God, was that movie bad. I dont think I laughed once the whole movie.
Sometimes the negative responses are not justified. I watched it once. Everything about the film felt forced, like they were trying too hard. Watching it made me miss the dry humor and sarcasm of Bill Murray.

I think too many people were looking to compare it. I wasn't expecting great, but I also wasn't expecting terrible. I was looking for middle of the road, and that's what I got. That being said, I found plenty to laugh at (granted, I also laugh at things in Ghostbusters II that nobody seems to laugh at either). And I did have a lot of fun vicariously through Chris Hemsworth, who was clearly having an absolute blast just hamming it up the whole film.
I wasn't looking for plot, I wasn't looking for character, I wasn't even looking for story,... I just wanted to have fun. And I did ^_^

Well, the good news is they ranked that 2016 nightmare last, but honestly they shouldn't include that trash at all. I disagree about ranking GB II lower than Afterlife. Despite all the hate it gets, it's actually a good movie and it has the original cast in their prime.

2016 needed less ad libbing. Ghostbusters is a smart comedy that was tightly written and took the time to let jokes land. 2016 wanted to be flashy and put in as many jokes as possible. So you never have time to appreciate any of the jokes that do land. It was like the Fast and the Furious 9 version of Ghostbusters.
I would switch Frozen empire and ghostbusters 2, other than that perfect

Same. Frozen Empire may have felt average compared to Afterlife but at least it was done with respect for Ivan Reitman in mind

I just saw Frozen Empire after binging the first two and Afterlife and I really enjoyed it.
Yeah I just saw it and thought it was my h better than II.
Watch Frozen Empire and GBII again 6 months from now and see if you still feel the way you do now so that you can be certain that the idea of a brand new Ghostbusters sequel, and not the sequel itself, is the thing that is influencing you.
Afterlife has definitely earned that spot, it was a love letter to the fans and to Harold ... It was a refreshment to let us know that we're busting up the past and moving forward. It's a masterpiece of it's own! Ghostbusters II will always be my favorite from this amazing franchise, but Afterlife really hit me

Rule of thumb: No matter which rank shows up, 1st is always 1st, the 2016 Remake is always last. Now, for my list:

2: Afterlife

5: The Video Game
(3,4 and 5 are equal to me.)

OG, 2, Afterlife and Frozen Empire are my favorite Ghostbusters movies.
I'm just going to pretend that 2016 remake, reboot, sequel, or whatever that 2016 movie was never happened nor existed.
My only real issue with the first film is that Bill Murray comes off more creepy than charming, when it comes to his flirting with Sigourney Weaver. Exactly how many times does she say "no" and he pursues anyway? They never actually get a proper moment between them, and yet she's happily kissing him at the end as if Venkman had earned it at all. I cringe to say "its a sign of the times", but a lot of Bill Murray roles were like that in the late 70s and early 80s
In Ghostbusters II however, you got a bit more sense that Peter and Dana actually had feelings for each other, and he had to actually make an effort this time. And when he does pull the "old cheap moves" (like the "spoon up beside me" moment), as soon as she refuses, he relents.
Also, as one-dimensional as Vigo might have been (not like Gozer was deeper than a puddle either), he had a greater looming presence over the film, and was the central mystery for the Ghostbusters to solve. Gozer however... just kinda happens around them. The same thing kinda happens in Afterlife too. Egon being the only one who knew what was coming and was preparing for it, and everyone else just kinda slotted in and finished what he started... that is, once we finally discovered it was there.
And as "kid friendly" as Ghostbusters II might have been, there were a few legitimately terrifying moments. The heads in the subway tunnel comes to mind.

The Ghostbusters 2 soundtrack is amazing and you guys didn't even bother to mention it.
“Ghostbusters: Answer the Call” is an absolute abomination. Sony should have realised it and destroyed all of the evidence of it existing FOREVER.
I saw Frozen Empire last night, and I thought it was pretty good. Even though it can’t beat the original, it was still a fun film to watch
I liked Ghostbusters 2. My picks for best to worst #1 Ghostbusters . #2 Ghostbusters 2.# Ghostbusters: Afterlife. I never watched the female Ghostbusters nor the new one yet.
I feel that Ghost Busters: Frozen Empire should be ranked higher than “Ghostbusters 2” because the latter’s idea that only widespread positivity could defeat a supernatural threat is a little too far fetched. Frozen Empire has a brand new threat instead of recycling an older one, and it makes the best possible use for every character, particularly Phoebe, who gets more development as a character.
Ghostbusters 1 is all we needed.

Nice coverage! The heart added to Afterlife was an upgrade to the first, taking the same pace in character discovery and the villain reveal. These very ghostbustery elements were sorely lacking in Frozen Empire.

It has plenty of good moments, but I wish the film didn't start with the Ghostbusters' fame all dried up and out of business to a point where they're doing kids' birthday parties just to get some income. The film should've started the way the Ghostbusters video game for PS3 started.

While I understand the special effects in 1 and 2 were made for 420p CRT displays and the technical limitations of the time (and if watched today on proper hardware of the time, it still does look very realistic), I find it so humorous how the special effects look almost animated on modern screens.
I'd say that it should've been left at one movie and not try to make it into a franchise but The Real Ghostbusters was part of my childhood

I know it's crazy I said that But, It was made by Ivan Reitman (Director of Ghostbusters) Said that this Movie is a "Successor to the 1984 classic, Ghostbusters". But since the movie wasn't Popular enough, It became a forgotten "Sequel". When 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' came out, That movie became a "True sequel" and 'Evolution' became a forgotten Ghostbusters Sequel.

@@samyb4566 yeah. The story in the video game was the script Dan Aykroyd wrote for the 3rd film in the early 90s. Bill Murray not wanting to participate is what halted production until they canceled it after Harold Ramis passed away.

Ghostbusters was one of the these films I misremembered when I was kid, I think technically it’s the best and one in number 5 I find the weakest, I’ve not seen Frozen Empire.

5) 2016: Terribly flawed but not nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be.
4) Afterlife: Leaned on '84 FAR too much. Phoebe was great but besides her I'm sick of the 'genius kids' trope. Podcast was ok.
3/2) Honestly can't decide between Ghostbusters 2 and Frozen Empire. GB2 had the classic cast but was a let down after the untouchable original. FE *is* the best of the newer GBs movies. GB2 might be better... but I may have had more fun seeing FE.
1) 1984: Thee Greatest Sci-Fi/Horror/Comedy of ALL Time. (mic drop)
H.P Lovecraft got an honorary mention in Frozen Empire, which made me extremely happy. Lovecraft has so so many stories that could be linked into a future movie. “Dreams of the Witch House” - “The Shunned House” “The Horror at Redhook” to name a few. His writing ms were steeped in Occult. The writers on these movies are lazy nowadays.

GB2 is ranked number two in my list.
I agree about the remake in 2016 when I watched it at the cinema I thought it was ok but when I saw how much hate people were giving it I stuck up for the movie because I know female lead movies are often criticised too harshly and that’s often the case with the 2016 remake

Frozen Empire was great, regardless what the critics think. I don’t trust people that rated the female reboot the 2nd best. Smh.

The 2016 Ghostbusters is like a really long SNL sketch, where the majority of the jokes are childish & don't land. People complain that the haters of the movie hate women, but the writers of this movie seem to hate men. If men aren't the villain, then they are idiots like Chris Hemsworth's character.
Not to mention they thought “wE sHoT tHe GhOsTbUsTeRs LoGo In ThE dIcK” would be a good way to end the movie. Gee, wonder what message they were saying there.
Answer the call was an insult to the franchise. The good movies had the humor coming from within the story. The 2016 movie did not make sense. The ghosts look like they belong in Scooby-Doo 2 monsters unleashed. The scenes didn't flow well. The running gag about soup to wonton ratio did not make sense. The song and dance number at the end was atrocious. When afterlife came out, at least one of the cast members of the 2016 movie was upset that afterlife did not tie into their movie but rather with an actual sequel to Ghostbusters 2.

@fundhund62 answer the call was an absolute disaster. The jokes were forced into the story rather than coming from within the story itself. Most people do not like it in the slightest. You seem to be in the minority

1) I actually enjoyed GB2016. The only part I didn't care for was the schtick of "narrating the humor", which was prevalent. THAT was annoying. The rest of the movie was enjoyable. Also, why is making a movie accessible to kids a bad thing?
2) GBII was depressing and a little mean-spirited (no pun intended). I would have put it much lower, which is saying a lot considering there are only 5 movies.
3) GBA had me sobbing each and every time I've watched it. Of course, the 3rd time I saw it I made the mistake of watching it as a double-feature with GB, with my daughters. The combination of me "passing the torch" to my girls and the extremely touching and tasteful tributes...OK, I'm almost ready to cry again.
4) I haven't seen GBFE yet but am looking forward to it. Knowing that "D*ckless" makes an appearance is a bonus.
5) Seriously, what can beat the original? I also had the advantage of having seen it in the theatre in 1984. SO much fun.

The key to any and all successful Ghostbusters movie handsid Harold Ramis (even if he isn’t directly in it like Afterlife) Just about any movie in my 10 ten of funniest movies would have him involved as a producer or actor or both. Throw in some Stay Puff Marshmallow men (big or small) and you have perfection.
Me, and my girlfriend enjoyed watching frozen empire. However I am the only one of the two that afterlife, ghostbuster one, and ghostbusters 2.

I like all of them for different reasons with number three being the least liked. For me number 4 is the best because of the heart felt love for the storyline. I haven’t seen #5 yet.

Mibby it was more because Fieg and his team absolutely butchered a beloved franchise? Because ya know, Phoebe is the main in the new trilogy, she's brilliant and I didn't hear any issues about Podcast or Lucky. So it makes no sense saying Answer The Call was boycotted for those reasons, it kinda just seems like a wanky thing to say.
I didn't like the 2016 one but I didn't hate I feel they took a shot but they missed. Just saw Frozen Empire I enjoyed but still processing it but a good time. Ghostbusters II I don't think it was as bad as they make it to be yeah it was not as good that the first but I liked it. Afterlife I thought it was great legacy sequel I loved that we got to see Spangler one last time that scene hit me in the heart. Ghostbusters the original of course the best.
I liked all of these movies in one way or another. And I will not say anything bad about them.
