This was in the late 70’s & it’s still going strong. Jeff Lynne is still going strong today at 72. That wasn’t a perm, it’s his real hair. It’s tamer now, but he still has a full head of hair, a strong voice & gets better looking every year. ELO will always be an icon.
ELO is seriously legendary: Sweet Talkin' Woman, Mr. Blue Sky, Turn To Stone, Living Thing, Shine A Little Love, Telephone Line, Xanadu, Don't Bring Me Down. Those are the *minimum* songs you need to check out from them :)

The lead singer, Jeff Lynne, worked with many other artists. He even was part of a popular supergroup called The Traveling Wilburys, which also included George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and Bob Dylan. “Handle Me with Care” is an upbeat song.
Electric Light Orchestra was a HUGE deal in the 70s and 80s. Don’t Bring Me Down is one of my favorites. It reminds me of being young, in the 5th grade and just some carefree days. They were on in the background of my life.
Damn right. I recall getting in trouble, around age 5 or 6, for sneaking out to my mother's 4-door LTD and running her battery down listening to ELO on the 8-track in her car. Habit forming.
Love E L O ( Electric Light Orchestra)! My older brother used to listen to them and I guess I used to sit and listen with him! Great band! Thanks for reacting ! Love your channel! Stay safe! From Australia.
I'm glad it made you smile, Mr Renaissance Man! The Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O. for short) emerged in the early seventies. Some people say they carried on where The Beatles left off. As their name suggests they used orchestral instruments, and they had their biggest hits from 1976 to 1981.
Summer of 1973, I was 14. Saturday morning cartoons were ours (the kids) until Soul Train ended out the morning. Then it was chore time. American Bandstand came on before Soul Train (cartoons were essentially over). Dick Clark introduced a 'new' band, Electric Light Orchestra from England. They played Roll Over Beethoven and Showdown. After hearing Showdown I felt like I'd just seen the new Beatles. It was so different (hadn't heard The Moody Blues yet). They were in a league of their own. Many awesome memories with these guys. ;-)
Had a cousin come stay with us one summer, early 70's. He was about 17 y.o. He'd just bought Days of Future Passed and played it all summer. Think I was about 12. When he was at work, I'd sneak into his room and play it for hours. Same summer, same cousin took me to see my first concert in Denver for my 12th birthday. The Jackson 5! Music was great back then. ;)

And yes, I've listened to this song over and over again, along with all of ELO's other many hits. They were my absolutely favorite band when I was in high school. I'm sure I wore out all my ELO cassette tapes.

Their first song, Handle With Care. Probably the best of all time. That song you can hear all their individual music types in the way each has tuned their guitar.
What I love about this channel is how Ty sits and lets the music wash over him - he sits thru the intro and first verse, a little smile appears, then as the chorus breaks open, his head starts to bob in rhythm and he experiences the song the same way I did when I first heard it, way back when... he asks us about our first time hearing the song: for my generation, it was AM Radio. It reached us...

Bought this single when it was released and was pleasantly shocked to find out it was on pink vinyl. Being a music lover and too young to have a job, I'd save up my lunch money all week to go to the local record store and purchase a couple of 45 rpm records. Money well spent....no regrets. Another ground-breaking band! Awesome, Jeff Lynne is amazing! Get to know him!! They used orchestral music and opera and everything in their music. I love it. Jeff Lynne's fro is real as if Don Henley's in The Eagles. I grew up listening to ELO. When we first heard them on the radio in Canada, we flipped and had to run out and buy the 45s at Stedman's store! "Rockaria", "Evil Woman," "Don't Bring Me Down," "Telephone Line," "Livin' Thing," "Turn to Stone," "Strange Magic," and so on....
This band started as *Electric Light Orchestra.* Since they used strings in their songs. Then Jeff Lynne shorten the name to *ELO.* After this album *("Out of the Blue" which the song "Sweet Talking Woman"* came from) was the last album Lynne put in strings & turned to synthesizers sound until 1986 when Lynne disbanded ELO. *Lynne put together another Electric Light Orchestra group in 2014.* Between *1989 until 2000,* original founding member *Bev Bevan (drummer)* put together his version of the band called *Electric Light Orchestra, Part 2,* then to *ELO, Part 2.* When Bevan left in 1999, the remaining members became *The Orchestra* & touring today. Jeff Lynne has a version out today as *Jeff Lynne's ELO.*
These songs all came out in the 70s. I was born in 1970 and used to sing along and had absolutely no clue what any of it meant. I just loved it. The music of the 70s was IMO the best decade we've ever had (of course I am biased) but everything was more fun back then. ELO was all part of it. We used to hear it a lot on the radio in the car and always sung along with mum. I loved how musical ELOs music was.
I was in High School when this song was a MAJOR Hit! In the mid to late 1970's! I love it! And ELO! Great job, MRMan!!! Keep up the awesome work! I AM, a subscriber!
From ELO album Out Of The Blue. They sold between 10 M and 15M copies...The album is from 1977 and their concerts are always the best in the world Wembley, Hyde Park and all the others...
Yes! I loved ELO as kid in the 70s - Jeff Lynne has the coolest voice, plus they made orchestral instruments and music cool. So many favourite songs: Roll Over Beethoven, Rockaria, Livin' Thing, Don't Bring Me Down, Hold on Tight, Rock N Roll is King, etc.... And yeah, I loved him in the Travelling Wilburys too.
I grew up in the seventies and this is one of my favorite songs from the era. My 10 year old son loves this song, and he learned to play it on the keyboard because he knew it was one of my favorite songs. ELO was a great band.
Can’t wait...ELO are legends, their music is Epic. When you reacted to Guitar gently weeps with Price, the lead singer Jeff, is the lead singer of ELO.
That version is so epic! Another great video is Jeff and Joe Walsh and Dhani Harrison (George Harrison's son) doing "Something" for a George Harrison Tribute Special. Please don't hate me when I say that to me it sounds almost better than the original by the Beatles. I REALLY LOVE JEFF'S VOICE!
I was a kid listening to them on my 8 track/radio. Their music has always been a orchestra sound. They came out in the early 1970s. Their music is unique. Those were the times of great music.
I have owned this album on 8-track, cassette, vinyl, CD, and digital download. Got rid of the 8-track and cassette, but still have the others. The whole album is just great.
It is now called Jeff Lynne's ELO and has with great success been touring the UK and the states these last few years and I think will be touring the states again this year, Ty if you can get to see them as I have they are still good today as they were but sadly there are only two original members left in this current guise, Jef Lynne and keyboardist Rlchard Tandy who recently has been ill.
Ty, it ws 1975 at Madison Square Garden NYC & ELO had one of the greatest entrances I ever saw, The music started and the stage opened to a flying Saucer that slowly opened up to a stage with laser lights all around and the band was playing in the saucer stage.
I used to listen to ELO as a kid back in the 70's. Mike Edwards was one of the cello players on that video. He was killed in 2012 when a cylindrical hay bail rolled down a hill and hit the van he was driving. Such an influential group for many bands and Jeff Lynn is one hell of a song writer.
I admire how you are open for anything and for the fact that you truly are reacting and getting into what you are listening to, well done and you have a new subscriber.
ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) was one of my favorite bands back in the day, along with the Beatles, the Eagles, Queen, and Stevie Wonder. ELO was at the top of the charts for at least a decade. They were SO good, with Jeff Lynne being a perfectionist who oversaw everything -- from the writing to the recording. You can search for a very long time and never find a 'bad' song by E.L.O.
One of my favorite groups in the 70's, love his song, their music had such a full sound, almost an orchestral quality, could just crank up the volume and be surrounded by the sound.
I love this song because they are a great band, and they bring back great memories! I have a picture of my sisters before prom and her date is 6'4" and RED hair and sporting the biggest FRO you ever saw! In the 70's everything was about natural....hence natural hair, I even knew people that would perm their hair to have a fro.....70's was black power...everyone was digging it!
Boy Blue, Raining All Over The World and the epic 8 minute version of Chuck Berry's Roll Over Beethoven. It's hard to beat the Electric Light Orchestra!
Yes!! I was ten when this came out (1978). My parents bought this for me on vinyl. Please do Don't bring me down and Mr Blue Sky by E.L.O. next....i think you will enjoy them. If you have reacted to the Travelling Wilburys, the singer Jeff Lynne from ELO is one member of that super group.
I think this was made in 1976. It was a song/album that my older brother had, and I was heavily influenced by his interests at the time. I stayed with him on his air force base for a spell, and the album art was what first interested me; kind of a mix of the old Wurlitzer jukeboxes, and futuristic space flight. Listening to the entire album was what made me love the music. It was eclectic, briskly paced, and the harmonies soothed and energized. After that, I looked for anything associated with E.L.O. especially a movie Xanadu (a story-light musical dance movie from 1980) which highlighted mostly E.L.O. music. It might be of importance to note that the primary member of E.L.O. was Jeff Lynne, who was associated with Tom Petty (and the Heartbreakers), and George Harrison (The Beatles) and eventually they combined (with other noteworthy musicians) to form the musical group, The Traveling Wilbury's.
1977. One of my top three favorite albums. I moved to Florida, got my AA degree, met and married my wife, had children and life has only gotten better!
ELO (short for Electric Light Orchestra) was HUGE in the 70's, with MANY hit songs. This song came out in 1977 when I was 10. Reminds me of the skating rink. YES, white guys were sporting afro's in those days. Long hair on guys was very popular then and if you had really curly hair and were white, this is what your hair would look like...some may have gotten perms because of it's popularity in those days, but some, it's all natural.
Jeff Lynne is a god of songwriting, producing, he was at the apex in the 1980s of his career. ELO still performs today, 2019. This group had the "IT" factor that provided a great sound with great lyrics.
"Evil Woman" is one of their trademark songs and one of their early hits, later sampled by Daft Punk for their song "Face To Face". Please check "Evil Woman" out. :)
Anything by ELO takes me back to the days of dating my boyfriend in the 1979. We got married in 1984. Been together 40 years...Many good memories of ELO songs. Makes me smile every time I hear their music, and the time just rolls back.
Hey Ty! Hello from your Christian Brother in Phoenix! and yes it's HOT now! I came in from a swim put on this song because I heard it on the radio on the way home. You popped up so I watched it! I about fell off the couch when you said "when was this made? when white people were rocking afros!" SO true. It's E-L-O and I was a kid (like 10 years old) when they were big but they have a TON of great songs. They are very different. They are still rocking today. Well, hope you are doing well! I love watching your reaction, I can clearly see that Love of Jesus in your heart! You have a joyful spirit! Have a good weekend!
This was my favorite song when it was on the charts when I was in 8th grade & I still love it! I had the single. Such good memories! 1977 or 78 LOL! Yes, the frizzy perms were a big thing back then. E.L.O. God bless you, too, Ty.
It's E.L.O. for Electric Light Orchestra....this band had it all...power ballads great vocals and harmonies...seen them live and man was it awesome...every song they do is a great song...they put everything they have into everything they do....this was the 70s early 80s...I rocked out to this going into my teen years....

@@yvetteadshead4212 This is Captain Prototype. I know this song from when I was a kid. The 70s had a lot of cool music from all different styles. Glad I was there to infuse myself with it. I missed the live reaction, lol...
Def in the 80’s... Lynn and ELO was one of the biggest acts in the world. Mix of pop, rock and classical. Prob their most longevity comes from Mr. Blue Sky, which has been in commercials and movies, and is just one heck of an uplifting, fun song. They are still touring, and still amazing.
This song, Or, Just ELO period reminds me when my wife and I just got married back in 1976, Jeff Lynn is the guy with the Afro, He still has one to this day, He just tamed it down in his old age, I got to see them live in concert around 1975/76, Outstanding!!
E.L.O. was a band that I remembered, when I was growing up. It takes me back hanging out with my cousin's over the summer vacations. Swimming, horseback riding and just handing around doing what kids would do over the summer vacation. Good memories. Then later on as i gotten older. My last summer with my cousin (may she rest in peace). Her and I took a challenge with each other who could name the song and the groups who sang them. Of course I won...lol. But I will always remember my time with her, not knowing that would've been my last summer with her.
Jeff Lynn was one of the men singing in the Traveling Wilbury's video you did a while back. The Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) was an early 1970's to about the mid 1980's English group and had a number of hits in the UK and in the USA. I have most of their albums and Out of the Blue is one of my favorites... it also has the song Mr. Blue Sky, that was used in Guardians of The Galaxy II -- Baby Groot danced to it at the beginning of the film. : ) It great watching you reactions, btw.
Solid 70’s. Not ashamed to say I had one of those white man afros. ELO is one of my all time favorites. It’s fun to watch younger generations listen to this music and seem to like it.
The 1970's had so many groups that were impeccable when it came to studio recording resulting in that smooth and full sound. ELO, Boston, Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Earth Wind and Fire, Steve Miller Band, Chicago, The Who, etc. the musicianship was off the charts.
This was in the late 70’s & it’s still going strong. Jeff Lynne is still going strong today at 72. That wasn’t a perm, it’s his real hair. It’s tamer now, but he still has a full head of hair, a strong voice & gets better looking every year. ELO will always be an icon.

Can’t wait for this one! ELO was one of my favorites in the 70’s when I was growing up!!
Mine too....brings back memories
Me too
Me too
They are touring again this year
I'd have to say my all time favorite E.L.O track is "Waterfall." Just something about it.
Not at all, it’s all great!
And don't forget The Traveling Wilburys! I saw Jeff live last week and I almost cried during Handle With Care. Dhani sounds so much like his dad!
Should do “Evil Women” by E L O
That's what I called my mother.
I was a kid listening to them on my 8 track/radio. Their music has always been a orchestra sound. They came out in the early 1970s. Their music is unique. Those were the times of great music.
Living Thing...Mister Blueskies....Night in the City....wild west hero....so MANY ELO songs. SO MANY!
ELO was one of my favorite groups back in the '70s when I was young. But my all time favorite group is still the Moody Blues.
Yes. My mom had a lot of their records, that's what I grew up with.
I love Procession/Story in your eyes
Love ELO and the Moody Blues. Saw them live three times, amazing performers. I loved Justin.
MRM needs to dedicate an entire Tuuuuuuuuuesday Aaaaaafternoon to listen to the Moody Blues.
Try Turn to Stone next...it's a total groover.
Kansas - All we Are Is Dust In The Wind. A song about how time goes by so quickly. Beautiful song
Found this! Brought me back to high school when I saw E.L.O. live at UM in 1976! Outdoor concert with a light show! Fun times! 🎻
I have owned this album on 8-track, cassette, vinyl, CD, and digital download. Got rid of the 8-track and cassette, but still have the others. The whole album is just great.
Same.
Starting with the incredible album cover!
1977.
I ADORED E.L.O.!!!!!They were and are just amazing, brilliant, and they are english.
I went to see them in concert last year, Manchester, England, fabulous, they are touring again this year, can't wait
Loved this group from the 70s. I'm also from Manchester nice to see another Mancunian on here.
@@deborahwhitney837 hello from Macclesfield, near neighbours
I love ELO. It's from my high school days, mid 70s. And, he's still got a little fro!
Thanks for jogging some of my old memories from back in the 70's with these great tunes. God bless brother.
Rock Aria is the best ELO song ,intro gaff and all.Best Album title A New Worlds Record, cracks me up every time 😂
I admire how you are open for anything and for the fact that you truly are reacting and getting into what you are listening to, well done and you have a new subscriber.
One of the great English bands from the 70’s. Love them.
One of my favorite groups in the 70's, love his song, their music had such a full sound, almost an orchestral quality, could just crank up the volume and be surrounded by the sound.
Almost an orchestra? He had a full orchestra behind him !! Clue in the name ...
One for sure: “Turn the Page” by Bob Seager. Eyes must be closed throughout the song...great road trip music.
Think that should of said Turn To Stone
Road trip? with your eyes closed? you are living on the edge man, I give you that!
???
Don’t drive with your eyes closed.
Road trip with your eyes closed?
My brother & Sister were always listening to ELO. Brings a lot of memories to mind. ☺️
Love Telephone Line from them!!
I LOVE ELO it's about time they get some love!
"All Over the World" or "I'm Alive" or "Fire on High"--Love ELO! You know it's ELO, but the songs are so different.
Mr Blue Sky by ELO makes me happy. My mom played their music all the time as I was growing up. Thank you for the good memories.
haven't heard that song for many years! . think i will go out and buy that cd
E L O Electric Light Orchestra 😁
mid 70's
I was a teen....I loved E L O
I was excited about this one!! Love them!!
Jeff Lynne went on to form the band Traveling Wilburys with Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Bob Dillon.
FIFY: Bob Dylan
Great video man! Love your stuff
Jeff Lynne great voice.
Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)
You will LOVE “Can’t Get It Out Of My Head”. It’s absolutely gorgeous!
I've been called a Renaissance man in my day, and I'm heartened to see that you carry the torch for this concept. You must have had the classical, well-rounded education. I would like to discuss myriad subjects with you when you have the time. E-mail me at your convenience.
Jeff Lynne, songwriter, multi instrumentalist and a gorgeous voice; how I miss ELO, I wish they were starting over again !
Popular at college in 1975
Oh Mr MRM I'm proper excited about this one
LOL! Great songs by ELO. Evil Woman.
@@captainprototype187 I love their music, my era growing up in the 70 's
@@yvetteadshead4212 This is Captain Prototype. I know this song from when I was a kid. The 70s had a lot of cool music from all different styles. Glad I was there to infuse myself with it. I missed the live reaction, lol...
@@captainprototype187 I made the effort and got up at the ungodly time, it went very quickly but worth the it, loved it x
Yep! Never fails. Listening to ELO always makes me feel like I should be rollerskating.
Lol! You're doing this on purpose aren't you. Messing with us by mispronouncing the names of famous bands.
It's E.L.O. (Electric Light Orchestra)

😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
AND HE IS STILL TOURING...SOUNDING WONDERFUL!
ELO ARE THE BEST!
It great watching you reactions, btw.
