Very relaxing and upbeat. "Livin' Thing" "Turn To Stone" "Hold On Tight" "Shine A Little Love" "Do Ya" "Can't Get It Out Of My Head" 'Xanadu" "Twilight" "All Over The World" "Showdown" "Confusion" are some other great hits. Glad you enjoy this band.
I have loved them since I was a young girl! These are all my faves that u mentioned, but I really love "10538 Overture", that is an absolute masterpiece, but then again, that's pretty much all of their songs! 🥰
@@earth2kosmickitty Hi kitty (love your full name, by the way, lol), I am a Patreon over at HarriBest Reactions, and I just sponsored Harri's reaction to, "10538 Overture", there yesterday! Go check it out. And then search his video archives, because he's reacted to over 40 ELO songs, most of which were sponsored by me. Cheers!
@@Cosmo-Kramer Haha! Hey there thanx so much and likewise! 😻 That sounds so cool, I will check it out! Have a blessed one.🥰🙏🏽
I'm Alive is one of my favourites.
Agreguemos "so serious", "the whale", "mr. Blue sky", "i'm alive", "on the run", "tightrope", "need her love", "the fall"
This was the first time singer Jeff Lynne really sang lead vocals in falsetto. This album was influenced by the music at the time and, I'm sure, Barry Gibb and his falsetto, so Amber is spot on.
ELO is one of my favorites. Strings and keyboard is amazing plus the vocals. Need to do "All Over the World" Please.
Xanadu!!
ELO are legendary Jeff Lynn has a phenomenal voice. Jay and Amber continue to listen to this great great band. Thank you for what you do.
ELO - Living Thing - Sweet Talking Woman - Turn to Stone - Telephone Line - Strange Magic - Do Ya
"Evil Woman", "Strang Magic ", "Turn To Stone", "Shine A Little Love", "Hold On Tight", and "Calling America".
Showdown
Hold on tight is a banger 👍🏻
I'd love to say that Jeff Lynne is underrated, but the people who know better know just how incredibly talented he is. Jeff was also a member of the Traveling Wilburys. 👍
Fabulous producer as well.
I've no idea why anyone might think he's underrated. Anyone in the music business rates him hugel and ELO were (and still are) a hugely successful band)
You were close...this song isn't for strutting down the street, it's for strutting on your skates in a roller rink
.
Classical and Rock'n'Roll merged in the 70's with bands like ELO, Queen, Yes, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Roxy Music ... big beautiful rooms full of sound hittin' on the beat. it was a great time to be learning piano, lots of excellent music for keyboards.
More disco than Rock and roll in this case but yeah
@@Charles-xu7pu yes alo alo nice sound they sound so good so good like a Kansas you know Kansas and all that and hey Jackson Browne my word where in the world has Jackson Browne Jackson Browne how about the stay sthayi always wonder is that Ronnie Spector singing with Jackson Browne on Stay Stay? Anyone
@@Charles-xu7pu I really think that Jackson browne St a white stay that would be such a great song to react to i mean I'm guessing it's running spektor?? I don't know but they whoever it is they are primo Cola bud gold standard hello
@@Charles-xu7pu your life in I never could figure out why nobody ever thinks
Like the Traveling Wilburys I don't get why I like they played like one song and acted like they did something wrong or something I don't understand that
Jeff has a fantastic voice with a really great range. He also has perfect pitch.
"Turn to Stone" "Rockaria" "Roll Over Beethoven"--Any of the three should be your next one.
Love this tune. From the ELO album “Discovery”… or “Disco-very” lol!!! One of my faves along with “Mr Blue Sky”, “Living Thing” and “All Over The World” - you must do THAT tune! You should also check out their version of Chuck Berry’s “Roll Over Beethoven” for a totally different sound. And “Twilight” for another completely different sound.
Twilight is a must listen for sure ..
You beat me to it! This track really puts the "Disco" in "Discovery"!
Very agreed on All Over the World
Discovery is my favourite ELO album!
@@kevinferrin5695 That Video is a feel good one.
THIS SONG IS FANTASTIC !!!!! THE STRINGS ARE GREAT
Always been my favorite ELO song.
ELO has lots of catchy tunes. "Showdown" and "Confusion" are cool too
Love Showdown.
This is Jeff Lynne and the Electric Light Orchestra pulling out all the stops to craft pop perfection. From the smooth, walking bassline of the verse into to the driving pulse of the chorus, then the the supersonic soar of the bridge back to the grounded walking bassline of the verse. Magnificent! Thanks for yet another stupendous reaction video, Rob Squad!!
👏👏👏 Props for naming the group correctly, everyone thinks it's just ELO.🤷♂️
Disco.
I love ELO! Jeff Lynne is a genius. How about The Diary of Horace Wimp?" Amber loves a good storytelling song.
"Telephone Line" and "Turn to Stone" are also GREAT from ELO! Keep em comin'!! :)
The thing I like most about "Last Train To London" is the way the bass, cello, and drum elements combine to give you the vibe of actually riding on a train. Am I the only one who feels this when they hear the song?
Nope, that's why I like it too!
'' All over the world '' is one of the best !! Especially the Flash mob video that goes with it ❤❤❤
My favorite music video ! Those flash mobs are the coolest. Collective cooperation at its best.
Except the flash mob video is not to “All Over the World”. It’s a compilation of dance videos that appear to be at the same beat…
Totally agree... I was going to comment, but now Just need to agree strongly!!!❤❤❤👍😁
It is a disco-type song--it came out in 1979, when disco was at its peak.
Supertramp gives you an array of instruments too. Try “School”
Definitely Crime of the Century is their best Breakfast in America sold more but isn't as good as Crime.
Just not as good as ELO do
@@leestockton9367 I like them better. But ELO is good
"Sweet Talking Woman"
"Rock-Aria"
""Roll Over Beethoven"
Are all fantastic, but most of their music is tremendous...lovely job, as usual!
Speaking of ELO, you haven't experienced full orchestra with these guys until you hear their take on Edvard Grieg's classical piece: "In The Hall Of The Mountain King"! 🤘
probably the most "disco" that ELO went. and still better than 90% of the other disco music made.
Yes, this and "Shine a little Love" were huge on the dico roller skating rinks back in the day. Yes, I'm a dinosaur. 😂🤣
Well yeah. This song has a typical disco groove.
most disco if you don't count Xanadu (I know I know....)
@@Bohem401 This is more "disco" than Xanadu.
Went to Church today and my friends mentioned that they have been checking out your music reaction videos. They loved younger people enjoying the music we enjoyed as kids. Anyway, just wanted to let you know you have some big fans here from the Little Country Church in Redding, CA.
ELO has been on my play list since their first LP, so ingenious and so talented.
I don't remember this one like I do "Mr Blue Sky," "All Over the World" or "Livin' Thing". I am struck by the disco feel, too. Not just the falsetto but the driving bass like a train heading out, and the siren, the string sections, etc. Thanks Rob Squad and whomever suggested it. I am smiling!
And when thinking about Jeff Lynne's voice, don't forget that post-ELO he was one of The Traveling Wilburys
Kelly Groucutt. Fantastic bass player and also a great singer. Beautiful co-lead and backing vocals on this track.
ELO's "Discovery" album in '79 was a huge hit. "Don't Bring Me Down" was the biggest hit domestically, but "Last Train to London" and "Midnight Blue" were HUGE abroad. When I moved to Korea, people of that generation ALL knew those 2 tracks. "Discovery" was a fine album.
Discovery is one of my all time favorites. Midnight Blue was a huge hit in the Philippines.
Those two must have been big all over Asia. They were the only two ELO songs that my first wife from the Philippines knew.
This song was off their 1979 album "Discovery". Jeff later called it Disco-very... as it was the disco era - and Jeff went disco.
ELO! Yes! Next from ELO - Living Thing live from Hyde Park. Violinist - wow!
One of my favourite things about ELO is Bev Bevan on the drums. His beats are always so fire 🥰
SOOO many hooks in this song! My favorite ELO song.. and I've never gotten past Hyde from That 70s Show looking like Jeff Lynne.
Was introduced to ELO by my junior high art teacher. He played their albums during art class. It was great!
ELO…Jeff Lynne was a genius! I love everything about ELO. Check out “Twilight” and “Hold on Tight (To Your Dreams)” from their ‘80’s album “Time”. Loved that whole album!
Yes Lisa "Time" is phenomenal 👍😊
ELO love their mixture of rock and classic music
One of my favorite songs by ELO that you haven't done is "Fire On High". It is mainly instrumental. There is a short piece at the beginning that uses baskmasking (messages recorded backwards)... The Beatles started a controversy about backmasking by experimenting with backwards playing music and lyrics. ELO jumped on the bandwagon and purposely put a backwards recorded message at the beginning of the song. Back in the day... If you put the vinyl record on a turntable with the needle on it and manually spin it in reverse you could hear the message. Now-a-days, it is easy just to record it and play it backwards.
One of my favorite albums from ELO is "Eldorado." Try the 'overture' and/or 'Mister Kingdom' for starters. You won't be let down.
Turn to Stone & Sweet Talking Woman are 2 of my favs by ELO.
One of the few Disco songs that they did. A number of acts used an orchestral sound (with strings) in Disco music, but these guys were just different. Brilliant work as always.
You should do 'Showdown' by them next, often gets overlooked but is one of their best.
Always loved “Hold On Tight” by Electric Light Orchestra. (of course anything ELO is good) try that one next! 👍
DISCO! 100% DISCO! This is one of their best disco songs ever. If I remember correctly, this song was released between 1978 and 1980. I do not remember for sure. Great so g to do the hustle to. Popular song in the dance clubs of the time. I danced to it a bunch. Discos and clubs were really fun in the late 70s and early 80s. To bad you weren't there to experience it. Great times!
If you can check out their live performances at their "Wembley" concert, they're amazing live and you can see how the band's evolved, the string section has certainly changed since this video, "Evli Woman" is a banger
Ah, Martin . . . Sadly I've tried many times to get any ELO reactors on YT to do that with any of his songs at either their last Wembley live show - or I think it was the Hyde Park one which they did last . . . sad to say I've had no luck with any of them wishing to see what the difference would be at an actual live show - compared to what will likely be a studio recording version . . .
Saw them in concert in the 70's incredible show with an amazing LAZAR light show
Everyone should hear this song at least once
Somehow, I remember recording this off the radio to add to a mix tape. Ah, such simple times; we didn’t know how good we had it.
I've LOVED this song forever..........I love the train-rhythm
This was from their album discovery which some described as disco-very! But they are all great songs
Love listening to ELO....you should play Don't Bring Me Down, Strange Magic or Livin Thing
Saw ELO live in 2019! One of the most technically impressive performances I've seen, and the light show was awesome. The ELO rabbit hole goes for miles, so buckle up!
Escucharlo por primera vez es increíble y ahora puedo ver esa sensación que yo viví en los ojos de alguien más
Temazooo
OMG y'all are too cute!! Love the reaction! As much as I love ELO somehow I missed Last Train to London and recently discovered it!! Obsessed!
So glad you like ELO! You're correct, fun is the operative word! 💕
I saw them live a couple years ago. The base line on this is SO good!
So glad you got to this tune- so seventies , of its time, such an easy evening listening groove
I was 11 in 1970. The 70’s music was soooo diverse... Now I listen to just about anything, that’s got some finesse. 😇
You still need to hear my Favorites!! ELO - Living Thing - Sweet Talking Woman - Turn to Stone - Telephone Line - Strange Magic - Do Ya
I love "sweet talkin woman"
Wish we could have been friends back in the 70's listening to this music together. I was in high school.
Never realized that the Disco feel to this one was so prevalent. Great reaction 😀
Geeez this came out when I was in junior High School. Best song writers ever
If I mentioned this already please disregard it, I’m losing my mind. Ha ha ha Living Thing by ELO is amazing
Great bass line.
Strange Magic… Mr. Blue Sky… all ELO.. one of my favorites from way back.
This song is such a reminder of times past. When this was released, i was dating a girl who was from Bristol and i lived in Essex and had to catch the train and change in London. Wow such a blast from the past.
George Harrison once said that had the Beatles kept going into the 70's they would have sounded alot like ELO.
ELO were all over the radio in the 70s and the 80s! "Roll Over Beethoven" (a real bangin' cover of Chuck Berry's original), "Showdown" "Can't Get It Out Of My Head" "Strange Magic" "Turn to Stone" "Don't Bring Me Down" "Do Ya?" "All Over the World" "Telephone Line" "Evil Woman" "Hold On Tight"
He’s walking that Bass 😂
I love this song as much today as I did when I was 16.
Jeff Lynne is singing falsetto on this song he's a genious
Jay & Amber, this band comes from my home town of Birmingham and when this song came out, I remember going to New Street Station (the main station in Birmingham) to check what time the last train to London was - it was 9.29pm lol. Please react to another ELO song The Diary of Horace Wimp.
This song was made for me the night I was at Trafalgar Square on New Year's Eve, 1981.
Denise, is that a true story? Was it really 9:29pm??
Unbelievable song! So good.
LOL The look Jay gave you was hilarious!
2 Cellos is a duet who rock the cello! You gotta give them a listen.
They were great in concert. Saw them in the late 70's.
Anything by ELO is a treat, thanks for this one, I love my ELO, always on my playlist on road trips.
Welcome aboard! E.L.O. is one of my favorite bands , and I have seen them perform live in concert, here in Los Angeles CA..
“All over the world” is one of my all time faves.
I blinkin love ❤ this band. They're just fabulous. I'm so so glad you liked em too. 💕. "Strange Magic" next please 🙏 🎵 🔥
Loved 'em for 45 years and still going Kim 👍😊
always one of my favorite ELO songs. i'm glad that you guys covered it. very cool
One reliable great band from the 70s. Hit after hit. The orchestras used in production add so much to the depth of their music. Little bits of Beatle' s sound sometimes emerging. Great reaction.
Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
you 2 whipper snappers were not around when ELO started out in 1970, they made over 20 albums and have improved on every album. take a listen to the album 'time'. each song runs into the next one, and each song is about time.
before they were, ELO, they were the 'move'. from birmingham uk
One of my favorites of all time. Very smooooth.
To really appreciate ELO you had to be there. The Discovery tour was amazing, I saw them in Birmingham England where the spaceship on the cover of the album lowers down out of the roof and then opens up with band inside. All the tracks on the discovery album were unbelievable.
Another favourite, thanks! Nicely mimed.
I grew up with this so it is always on my no 1 list, the whole group is just phenomenal.
The is a song I got to know ELO with, and love it to bits since, and the whole discography, Time being my favorite album.
Can't go wrong with ELO!!😍
Disco ELO! Almost everyone made a Disco song during this time. And ELO made some of the best out there!
Electric Light Orchestra's string instruments usually consisted of 3 stand up cellos and 1 or 2 violins, which when played by experts were more than enough to get the outstanding string sound that they were famous for. If you have never heard their greatest rock song "Roll Over Beethoven", you have GOT to listen to it, but make sure it's a video & not just the recording, because watching them do it is part of the experience! If you watch Jeff Lynne and his newest band at the induction of Chuck Berry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you will really enjoy it because they do a really great job and it's sounds fantastic!!! Oh, and please make sure to watch and listen to their song, "I Can't Get You Out of My Head", it's great!!!
Telephone Line,Living Thing, OMG the hits are endless
Love this band!! Awesome in concert!! 🤘🔥
"ELO - Turn to Stone" When I was in high school that was what we listened to at lunch.
they had cellos and violins in there just a beautiful fun uplifting song :)
Haha I literally just recommended this song as one of my personal favourites in a comment on another of your reaction vids. Of course you've managed to catch it! This reminds me so much of various times in my life when I was having a great time somewhere but had to worry about catching that last train home. It's a much funkier sound than their better known hits, and always reminds me a little of Jamiroquai
At the time of this recording I lived near Birmingham (Wolverhampton) but worked in London. Sometimes I would go home for the weekend. This was a Sunday night and I would catch that last train to London... It left at 9.30, it was on a Sunday. Did not hit London until around 12.30AM ... Then I caught the night bus home... This song was awesome and to think Jeff Lynne was maybe on that train makes it more awesome (Note that the last train was only 9.30pm on a Sunday)
As for the Barry Gibb vibe that Amber alluded to, you should watch the movie Xanadu. The Bee Gees, Andy Gibb, Olivia Newton John, and ELO were all involved in the soundtrack.
ELO was on top in the disco days of the 70's. Ridin' in my cousin's topless Mustang cranking this cassette.
People have criticized disco since like day one, but then you listen to the music...ELO, EWF, BeeGees, just to name a few...those were some of the best times in my life!
Excellent group! Their music was featur.ed in movie Xanadu. Simply wonderful soundtrack!
I agree with you Bobby Xanadu was most excellent and one of my favorite movies the combination of Olivia Newton-John and ELO was a combination made in heaven literally it was so wholesome haha. And that's normally not me I'm a total head banger but ELO is one of the sounds I totally dig, some people will call It Disco, I don't I call it good great. I'm a fan of past music too and Gene Kelly is one of the best. Kudos for bringing up the soundtrack, I own the album matter of fact I own two, one I've never played the other one played to death.
@@scorpius6568 Hello Scorpius656! Also my most favorite tune was and as I want to dance with you! Excellent mix of the 40"s and present time with the Tubes! Real good banger's beat!!
