I’m a dentist at a FQHC. Never seen a dish washer in a clinic before. What things do you dish wash? Trays? Alginate bowls? Just wondering since they are planning to create a new clinic at some point

The method many dentists are used to is slow, with lots of hand labor, and the possibility for lost and misplaced instruments - and instrument sticks. Dr. Ahearn proposed utilizing dishwashers to remove bioburden prior to autoclaving back in 1993. Today it is our standard recommendation, although of course you should check with your local regulatory authority.
