Oh my goodness. We are so sorry to hear that this is your experience. Our clinical team members get paid extremely well! We can do so because they are so incredibly productive. Your realization is beyond what most of us dentists can admit - We bought them. Probably paid too much for them. And they actually get in the way of doing more dentistry! I feel your pain. _Sometimes_ you can shift the patient chair off the midline in order to get enough room (I know that us dentists love symmetry and so this bothers us!). Unfortunately, the reality is that those side cabinets were designed for those 2 room offices in the 1950's when nothing ever left the room (remember, back then things were "sterilized" in a glass dish full of toxic goo). There was no technology to mobilize...because...there was no technology!

3 Ops in 650 sqft! Unfortunately, you are absolutely the doctor that has no place for anything! Sorry to have to say that.

Thank you for your kindness. It is what inspires us to continue this work. Wouldn't it be great if 4th year dental students could learn this? Students graduate with so much debt these days, and so little understanding of how to plan their way out of it and create a great life!

The problem for assistants is that we can teach them this - and they love the comfort, ease, and performance that they can achieve - but it becomes a tremendous frustration if their doctor and office are unwilling to change and improve how they work together! Oftentimes assistants that come to understand this have to find another office!

I suspect that what you are having a hard time believing is that an upright posture, like what you are seeing, actually allows visualization. This video is not staged. It is simply a normal day in practice for those of us that work in this system. I assure you that the assistant has perfect visual access to the entire procedure! Pretty exciting isn't it?

Hello as a dental assistant myself.. it’s definitely not rehearsed …but we do these procedures multiple times a day every day .its second nature . You can tell they have probably irked together a very long time . I work between two totally different dentist and i still confuse their work with each other so i will say she is really good at what she does .

This probably sounds weird, but teeth are actually elective! We consider them vital. They are. But people choose to keep them. They pay us to keep them. They are therefore - customers! Not hostages. They are free to choose us ... or not, and therefore is our responsibility to exceed their expectations and deserve their loyalty.

At its best it is a dance. High-production choreography.

The reps job (in their mind) is to sell. you need to protect yourself. They know dentists, not dentistry.

Labor short areas are actually the location where this is most helpful! These are the areas where demand for services are so high! 2 important results occur: 1. You can double or triple your personal production - making the associate less imperative. 2. There are many doctors that will want to join you when they see what their income potential will be!
