Amazing demo, thanks so much. Wish every console overview was like this!
Sweet. Can't wait for more
Excellent video - thanks!
Great review
Thanks so much!
Great overview!
Thank you so much!
Would love to see a video more on the studio side of things. Recording and mixing specifically.
Great suggestion. We will consider this for future videos.
@@Johnbanthony would be great to see different genres in mix down. Seems ideal in today's work flow, to those whom want to have a great console in studio. Great sounding analog consoles are too expensive, and recalls are a pain considering everyone wants their work done in 2 days. Im wondering if a great digital console like the avantis would be a great option for top grade work, which seems like it is!
@@rigovargas17 thank you for the suggestions, we truly appreciate it.
@@Johnbanthony Just following up couple months later. Wondering if there might be more mixing videos up soon to keep hearing the sonics of this console? Thank you.
@@rigovargas17 Thanks so much for following up. Unfortunately, Covid put a damper on our in-house productions and now we're playing catch-up. We hope to create new content in the future but can't put a timeline for this specific console. All we can tell you for now is it truly sounds amazing and is very flexible.
I am in need of a tutorial on how to do virtual sound check with the Avantis and how to use vocal tuning on live vocals with the Avantis and Antares plugins.
With the new firmware, there will be a softkey for doing virtual soundchecks. We’ll be covering this more in depth in a future video going over the new firmware. The new firmware doing this came out today. We can cover using tuning with Antares autotune and waves tune in another video as well.
You mentioned it is possible for 2 engineers to work on the desk. However, when the hit Mix on band 2, the faders that the it controls spill over in band 1. How do you manage that?
Hey Collin, are you trying to mix two different bands at the same time? You’ll need to make sure the second band is on their own input, and use an aux for that mix. Drop the faders to zero on each mix for the channels each mix doesn’t need. Then go to Setup > Strip Assign and turn off Lock master strips then Setup>Surface Prefs and turn off Layer link. Then you’ll be able to customize each half of the boards fader layers. Generally the intended purpose of being able to have to mixers use a board at the same time is have one run FOH and a second to run Monitors, capture, and/or stream mixes off the same band. You’ll be able to mix two bands, along as you can manage splitting up your inputs, outputs, auxes and effects between the two.
good day, we have allen & heat avantis but our tech guy dont know how to control our ME Volume from mixer... sometimes we cant hear our own instrument even we max the volume in our ME.. hoping for your help... thank you
Hey Percy, we have a video for programming the ME1s. This would apply for any of the consoles

Great video. My personal desk is Waves LV1, and I cant imagine using a desk without F6 on each channel now.. But my theatre needs a desk. How many Dynamic EQs (DYN8)can you assign? I see inserts are numbered.. Is there a max number?
Ah, just found the answer. 16 instances, max. Dang. Superrack it is!
Thanks so much for letting us know.
Thanks for the nice video. Just a one question. If i wanna play multitracks from my Computer ( DAW) must i have to buy this Dante Card? or is it possible to connect the Console to Computer without Dante Card ( Like Midas M32 or Behringer x32) . Thanks in Advance
You’ll need either a waves or dante card to multitrack into your computer with an Avantis. Allen and Heath’s SQ and Qu mixers offer multitrack recording over usb, but you’ll get more channels and processing from the Avantis.
@@Johnbanthony Thanks for the quick reply. Isnt there a 20 GB Harddisk? Cant i some how recod / Save /playback tracks on / from this HD?
Thanks
@@livemixpriyan The usb option on the Avantis will only record a two track of your mix. For multitrack recording, usb recording is not very stable, especially with 96K audio. You’ll also find that most consoles with multitrack usb recording top out at recording 32 channels. The SQ consoles can record 32 channels down at 48K. When I do capture at live events, I always try to use dante if possible with whatever the console is. I’ve had zero problems. Waves is also a stable protocol as well. If you’re using higher track counts, or want to stay with 96K, they’re the way to go. If multitrack over usb is important for you, I would check out the the SQ series. All 3 consoles run as a 48x20 system and can record 32x32 over usb.
@@Johnbanthony Hey Thanks again for the detailed explaination. What do u recommend me Dante 64 x 64 or WavesCard? if i buy Waves card i can use that für multitrack recording as well as deploying external wave plugins simutaniously right? if i buy Dante card i then just multitracks. am i right? Can u also please mention the prices of those 2 cards? Thanks in Advance
@@livemixpriyan Both cards can record, and yes only the waves card will be able to be used with their SoundGrid servers. You can technically run the the Dante signal into a DAW and use plugins there. The Dante card MSRPs for $999.00 and the Waves Card MSRPs for $899.00. For recording, you’ll have no problem with either. If you’re networking to multiple Dante devices or a computer, the Dante card is the better option. The Waves card in 128x128 so you have plenty of paths to process and record.
Make the video on how to record to your computer as you mentioned in this video
We will consider making this video, but the Avantis does require you to use a Dante or Waves card to record. It does not have built in recording options. technical than recording with the SQs. There are technical limitations of DVS with different sample rates.
Hello,
is there a way to do soft patching ( wanna duplicate for an example Kick in Channel), when u use Dante Virtuel sound card? And if i made FX Presets , can i use them those Preset libraries in DLive (C3500 ) Too?. thanks
You’ll need to double patch the inputs to do this directly on the board. You’ll obviously cut your channel count down when doing this. Since you’re running Dante, we would set up multicasting in Dante Controller. While the Avantis architecture is basically a baby dLive, the presets, show files, etc are not cross swappable. You’ll have to recreate the presets manually.
@@Johnbanthony Thanks you very much for ur Reply. Can u plz explain a bit more how to do this double patching?
@@livemixpriyan This would split the console input capacity in half. Channels 1-32 and 33-64 would be mirrored as far as input sources. For example, Channels 1 and 33 would use preamp 1, Channels 2 and 34 would use preamp 2, etc. You would have two instances of the same sound source on the mixer. These can processed the same or differently depending on what you're trying to do.
Can I select scenes via MIDI?
You can program soft keys to control scenes and then use midi to control the soft keys.
Hey JBA, Could you please share a good Show File with us, especially how u used thise Plugins incl. Dyna8. If Permited the Multitrack too, so that we can listen in the same szenario as u do. Highly Highly Appreciate if you could do this.
Thanks in Advance
Sorry for the late reply. We were trying to get this together for you but would have to make a mix/recording from scratch and source stem tracks that we're licensed to use. Perhaps check with Allen & Heath support and they may be able to help.
@@Johnbanthony Hi thanks for the Reply. If it is problem to provide a Multitrack cuz of the Licence issues, could you please give me just a good Show File? Thanks a lot in Advance
Any template we come up with would be completely useless & out of context without stems. We encourage you to join the Avantis user group on Facebook as you should be able to find some users to help you. Otherwise try product support on Allen & Heath's website.
@@Johnbanthony I Tried, but no sucess. Therefore i would be really greatfull to u if u can somehow help me with this. Thanks in Advance
@@livemixpriyan Sorry we can't help. Please contact Allen & Heath Support. You can start here: support.allen-heath.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new
May I upgrade from my Tascam 24 channel mixer to Avantis? Mixer? I want this only for my recording studio. I will produce my own streaming channel as well.
I also wish to add I/o cards (2), WAVES. DANTE.
Also I'm producing my own Gospel albums and filmscoring
Avantis can be a great studio piece, especially with the Dante and Waves cards. Depending on your needs, any of the Allen and Heath digital boards would be great for recording. Avantis can function as a DAW controller on top of being used to record. To record audio, you can use a Dante or Waves card. Both are great protocols, but the Waves doesn’t change channel count when recording at different sample rates. If you’re running DVS, the total channel count is 32x32 at 96Kz. If you plan on running more than 32 on your Avantis, recording over Waves may be a better option.
@@Johnbanthony Thank you so very much. Yes I am choosing the Avantis and will also purchase two i/o cards. Waves & Dante!
@@gospelpopmusic Great news! You're going to love it. If you live in the NY/NJ area, let us know before you buy.
Hello Enrico, thank you for sharing this video you make it look fairly easy to operate but this looks super complexed. I think the simplest and most pressing question (which is always overlooked in videos like this) ..."If a person is seeing this board for the first time how do they: • Take 1 mic that's XLR or Wireless plug it into the board and set up one channel?"
All the other stuff that you can do with this is great, but I think all the complexity of the board could be approached with less fear if a person who's never ever worked a console like this simply knows what to do to turn the system on and learn to set up one channel without the need for a 300 pg manual that may seem overwhelming.
Thanks in advance.
Thank you for the detailed reply. We agree that people sometimes just need to learn the basics. Your ideas are great and we will keep them in mind for future videos. Thank you.
@@Johnbanthony Thanks for the consideration. Yeah, once a person has mastered setting up one channel, all the other 63 channels should be a breeze. Thanks again!
This is a good length intro video. I will be shadowing FOH this weekend using this board. I feel better after seeing this and will probably rewatch it.
you talk way too fast dude - cant watch this
Sorry about that!
