As an amateur sewer I can say that the wealth of knowledge I got from learning to sew was invaluable. I no longer think about "size" but rather of "measurements" of the garment. It freed me from the idea there is only one way the "waist" hits. I no longer look at the "shape" of the garment rather I look at the "lines" of the garment. When I had my style consultation everything clicked. I wish more people knew what a great tool sewing is.

Hi sarah, can you do a video about icy colours and show some examples of fabrics like those used in the analysis and how to tell the difference between icy colours and pastels? I read that they are suitable for winters and I'm true winter.

Oh, cool, you wore your new top and trousers. :) What material are they? Since it is summer, I persume Linnen? Ah, that is why I like pattens more on my trousers than in my tops. I am an inverted triangle, and a few month ago, I bought two new trousers for the summer (just to lounge around) and they both have pattons in my colour.

I’m not entirely sure of the fabric as I bought it as a blanket in a charity shop. I suspect it’s a linen mix of some kind! Yes, that makes sense about the patterns ☺️💙

It feels weird calling them "trousers" in the States we say "pants." When pants or jeans fit me in the waistline they hang off my butt or hips. When they fit my butt or hips, i have to lay down and suck in to zip up. I prefer them to fit the waist and be comfortable than have them hug my bum.

    • @ringwe

Reversibly when I hear "pants" all I think is underwear :)

True In Ireland also. Pants means underwear here 🩲☺️

Lots of great information. Question: Narrower shoulders than hips but large bust. Am I trying to balance the width of the skeleton or the “curves?” I hope that makes sense.

It’s hard to say without having seen you. Keep in mind that these guidelines are quite general. For more bespoke information that is unique to you, I would suggest a body shape consultation. ☺️💕

At M&S I am 2-3 sizes smaller in their wide leg trousers than their jeans.

All of my jeans have "stretch" in them

I am long-waisted so i drop my line down. I never tuck in because it trunkates and clutters an already cluttered and scrunched area

I have a problem in that my torso is very long, my legs short in comparison , but I don't have much of a waist. I like tailored 40's style men's trousers, they always look good n me. Before doing Sarah's course I used to wear skinny jeans with a low waist, I looked like a piggy!
