Chris retired from sports reporting in 2022 after developing speech apraxia but he's still loved nationwide.
Well said ❤.
I second that....Kammy is a legend ❤
co hosts a good series on Radio 5
Lovely man
National treasure? If not, certainly appreciated by many
The unknown red card will always be my favourite commentating moment 🤣
Yeah, that and the striptease are legendary Kammie moments 😂
Pure brilliance....the peak of Soccer Saturday!
It breaks my heart that Kammy considers himself a fraud for the vocal condition he has though....it's one of those things and he has done BRILLIANTLY to work through it.
I love when he said that Papa Bouba Diop “couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo”. 🤣
He’s a legend here in the uk , lovely guy who unfortunately is suffering with health issues ❤
Here in the uk chris kamara is a national treasure. Hes the equivelent of a labrador documenting sports. Man should be knighted
I think Chris Kamara is so widely loved simply because he's real. There's no fake sterile reporting from him, he's just an everyman who love football. All sports need people like him commentating and reporting.
In 2014,at the age of 56,Chris chased down a street robber in Rio de Janeiro,Brazil and held him till police arrived to handcuff him. What a legend.
He's a national treasure and a good good bloke ✌️
King Boomer, Chris Kamara is a National Treasure. Even non-football/soccer fans like me adore him! I'm yet to hear anybody say a bad word about him, that's how loved he is!
Chris is a national treasure it’s hard seeing him suffer as he’s such a top bloke
a proper gentleman
Dear old Chris used to play for my club, Portsmouth, which he joined after leaving the navy.. he is a lovely fella, he always gave 100%, wore his heart on his sleeve, and never took himself seriously.......the moment when he missed the red card is absolutely legendary, and all the more so as it was at Fratton Park, home of Portsmouth FC, where he began his footballing career... Bless Him!!
I was there that day, just behind him in the North Lower.
I was also fortunate to see Chris play but when he was at Swindon in the 70's, one of the games greatest characters, good luck mate!!
Its the "yeah, I saw him walk off the pitch, but I thought they were bringing a sub on!" comment that always cracks me up. Brutally honest.
Happy to say that he played for my club Luton Town in the early 90's.#COYH
His name's Jeff, Jeff Stelling. Carly is probably his director/producer on his headset.
Chris Kamara Day is coming up soon, the anniversary of "I don't know Jeff."
Established 3rd April 2010.
UNBELIEVABLE JEFF
Chris Kamara is legend. Born and raised in the same town where I live in Middlesbrough, England. What you call a proper Boro lad. We love Kammy.
❤ Kammy. My daughter has a cuddly t-rex that she named Kammy when she was 6yrs old. She drew a picture of it, and her school teacher, who also worked at Newcastle's football ground on match days took it and gave it to him so he sent her a lovely video message 🙂
He's a class above.
Carly is the name of the producer also in his ear, prior to going to Jeff in the studio. Great bloke Kammy, loved by all.
Proud to say Chris played for my club at the start of his career. He was in the navy so he signed for Portsmouth where he was based. 🔵
The only negative thing about Kammy. F Pompey, UTS.
@@Finchie_97 Champions of England, you'll never sing that
He’s also as nice in real life as he is on screen, also happy to pose for pictures and sign autographs. Just the nicest guy.
Awww. Chris Kamara is lovely. He's a national treasure.
We need more Chris Kamars's in this world!
He is such a legend
Did well as a player for Leeds United too. Good to see these clips. Miss his match reports on Saturdays.
Kammys an ex player and a total legend, the highlight of every soccer saturday on sky was his banter with Jeff Stelling. They both got together after Kammy had to give up his punditry spot due to his illness and when Jeff Stelling gave up his anchor role and done a programme together. It's called Worlds most dangerous roads and is both sad and hilarious. Defo worth a watch.👍
He's a national treasure. Love him!!
Everyone needs to watch this evey now and again .😂
Chris Kamara is a total legend, he could make the most boring 0-0 draw seem like the score was 5-4, sorely missed on Saturday afternoons.... every time Jeff went to him your brain is thinking "what is going to happen here lol"
''I don't know Jeff!'' is such a classic. Glad you got round to watching it.
It was probably unintended, but Chris's catchphrase became "Unbelievable, Jeff!", so much so that it has entered into our everyday language. You'll hear a Brit randomly say it in response to something surprising or baffling.
He's a former Pro, I'm sure you know that by now. A couple of years ago I bumped into him at a train station, can't remember which. He was wearing a cream coloured suit and sat on a bench on the platform. I sat on the same bench and said "Hi Chris". He greeted me like an old friend. I avoided asking him about the "I don't know Geoff" incident although I really wanted to and now I wish I had as I realised he wouldn't have minded at all. He was what you just saw. A super nice, chatty guy. We talked for about 15 minutes, about football obviously.
He's exactly what you see, a funny, genuine, super nice human being.
Chris is nationally well loved. And for a time played for and eventually coached ( managed ) my team. Just a great bloke.
Kammy is a national treasure! The moment where he missed a sending off at Portsmouth is absolute gold. "Unbelievable Jeff!"
I had the pleasure of meeting chris kamara once back in 2012. I was a roman reenactor and him and I were promoting a charity event in York. He asked for a photo with me before he left. And was an extremely nice guy. Unfortunately though, I didn't know who he was at the time. My dad told me who he was after he left.
Met Kammy at a train station. Absolute gentleman.
He was walking up the escalator and straight after I shouted his name, he came running down the ‘up’ escalator!! Amazing guy and so sad to see him suffer
Half the country says “unbelievable Jeff!” Whenever they use the word unbelievable... it’s cast in folklore
Chris is a legend.
Bumped into Kammy at a water park in Teneriefe a few years ago. Stopped for a photo with me and my boy. Proper gent and a good laugh
Kammi is a national treasure & so is Jeff Stelling. Carly must be his director at the ground.
Jeff and Chris were institutions 90s through to very recently. Moved to the US in 2012, Soccer Saturday one of the things I’ve missed.
Just a legend.
The presenter in the studio is Jeff Stelling. Like Chris he’s a great bloke. Jeff headed a panel of soccer pundits who all joke around while giving their opinions on that days games. Chris is hilarious, especially when he starts uncontrollably laughing. He’s a legend.
Chris Kamara used to play professional football and has become a legend in reporting on football matches. His catchphrase is - "Unbelievable Jeff". That is Jeff Stelling who is the anchor with 4 other match reporters in the studio with great banter and pisstaking. Kammy and Jeff were recently on "The world's most dangerous roads" together.
I can remember him playing for Pompey after He bought himself out of the Navy . He went on to play for so many other clubs but had some unforgettable moments as a legendarily passionate and confused football reporter . It's so hilariously ironic he missed the red card at Fratton park .
Chris is a national treasure and missed for his interaction with Jeff, now retired, and the boys.
I love this guy. Commentary that I wouldn't be bored with
Great guy, met him in the airport 5 years ago. Had time for everybody shook everybody's hand and had photos with 100s of people lol
His name is Jeff !!! Unbelievable Jeff!!!
Everyone who ever watched this program loves Kammy. In my younger days I would be hungover and getting on it again and Kanara was always good for a laugh. He’s a little ill now though which is sad. It’s always the nice.
Chris Kamara used to have me in stitches; he's a real household name, bloody crazy, but what a bloke!
We ❤️ Kammy, he’s an absolute legend and always will be! Sad that he had to retire due to health issues but he’ll always be one of the most natural presenters
He is loved over here..a national treasure..known as Kammie he used to be a player and then onto sports reporting..'Carly' is in fact Jeff Stelling who has now left the show..Kammie left last yr when he was diagnosed with speech apraxia which means the time it takes to speak what he wants to say is delayed and sometimes slurred so there was no way he could do sports reporting..he was devastated but he has bern honest about what he has and therefore highlighted the disease..its just not the same without Jeff and Kammie..his famous catchphrase was 'its unbelievable Jeff'.. a true legend..🇬🇧💕✝️🙏👍👏⚽️
ive met Chris once and he is a top bloke with a great sense of humour exactly how he is on the telly.
He is a treasure and national hero
I was never the biggest football ( soccer ) fan. But I use to tune in on the radio and watch the sky report just for this guy. You never knew what was going to happen. The man is so great. I wish him all the best with his fight with speech apraxia.
Chris Kamara and Jeff Stelling, a fine pair of Teessiders! ❤️
Love Kammy. Absolute legend.
Chris is an absolute legend over here
Great guy for British Football, no longer reports for football but everyone liked him.
Geoff is now on Talksport Radio here in the UK in the mornings at 6am,still as funny as ever,as for Chris he's not in the best of health but still with us in his retirement years,he's loved by all sports fans far and wide,he goes under the name "The Legend that is Chris Kamara".......
Everyone loves Chris Kamara. He is a legend! 🙂
Both Chris and Jeff were on 'World's Most Dangerous Roads' , a really good episode.
His is a LEGEND here in England. All fans love him . ❤ hilarious . He’s unbelievable Jeff
Only the British could make sports comentary so beautifully funny and fun ❤😂😂😂 in real time
Chris was a former professional player and has recently retired from reporting due to poor health unfortunately.
Chris Kamara is a national treasure
Ya gotta love enthusiasm on that level, seems like a nice guy.
People love him because of how often he gets stuff wrong or has this vibe like he never fully understands what's happening, the guys hilarious. He's very witty in his comments too.
Kammy is a LEGEND. So sad to see what he is going through right now but he's a trooper and fighting through it.
Chris Kamara is in my opinion, a national treasure.
Kammy is an absolute legend.
Kammy is one of the most universally beloved TV personalities in the UK. It's such a shame he had to retire
Was lucky enough to watch Kammy play in his prime for Swindon Town, heck of a midfield player, great tackler and passer of the ball. Sadly missed on Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports.
Dear old Chris has since retired due to Speech Apraxia. He and Jeff were great together.
It was like having your best mate phoning in from the ground.....Saturday wouldn't have been the same without him.....
Absolute national treasure. Cruel irony that such a man would fall victim so such a condition. Cheers for the laughs, Kris. Legend.
He was a decent player in his day too, played for most of the decent Yorkshire teams.
I met Kammy once and he nicest and happiest guy ever when worked at Fulham
One of the most loved sports characters, along with Jeff Stelling, never failed to entertain us when Soccer Saturday was worth watching
Kammy is the man!
Just a all round good bloke . Stay well Chris.
Jeff Stelling presents the breakfast show some weekday mornings on Talksport Radio these days, but his long stint as the anchor on the 'Gillette Soccer Saturday' programme each week on Sky Sports was iconic. He was also the presenter of 'Countdown' for a while on Channel 4. Funnily enough, Portsmouth were one of the teams in the match at the end where the player got sent off. That football sketch by David Mitchell on 'Mitchell and Webb' started with Mitchell's character getting very excited about the upcoming Portsmouth v Southampton "south coast derby" ! 😂😂😂. Actually, it's a very passionate derby down here, but many seasons can go by without the two matches being played due to the two teams being in different tiers from each other in the football league pyramid quite often, sometimes for years on end.
The fixture could be revived next season, (2024/25), as Portsmouth are at the top of tier three at present and Southampton are in tier two at present. However, Southampton have a chance of getting promoted too, this time from tier 2 to tier 1, the Premier League, so fans of this local derby would have to wait another year at least for hostilities to resume. A large police presence is required at the ground and the city involved each time because of the risk of fighting between the rival fans. Pathetic, but there has been quite a bit of violence over the years.
Kammy is such a likeable person and a legend over here.
Think you've been advised to watch worlds most dangerous roads....latest series has an episode with Chris and Jeff....Chris's first tv appearance since his speech problems
Chris is a national treasure
Not a football fan, but I believe Chris is a well-loved sports personality
you must watch his documentary to Kris kamara it gives you and insight to his illness and recovery the man is a local legend in Teesside North East England Born 10 mins from where i live
Kammy is a legend. A great footballer when he played for us here in Pompey, and just an all round nice bloke. His chemistry with Jeff was just UNBELIEVABLE
So glad you finally got round to doing a Chris Kamara reaction, the guy is hilarious! Such a top bloke and a proper gentleman.
You should watch the video where he catches a thief in the street
Chris was the chief reason I used to watch. The whole ‘charm’ of the programme was a bunch o’ mates, with characters of their own, sharing a love of football in their own way.
Every group o’ mates has a ‘daft lad’ like Chris. We take the p*ss but we love ‘em just the same.
Kammy will always be the best
Lots of love and respect for Kammy, one of the games gentlemen.
He is a legend in every sense .On the pitch off the pitch and in the stands a true great.
Chris is totally a national treasure. Started off in the Navy, and played for a number of teams in the top 2 divisions in the 80s and 90s. He had a successful spell as Manager of Bradford City (and a less successful spell at Stoke City). He then spent nearly 25 years as a co-commentator, presenter and (as you see here) pitch side reporter. He was also heavily involved in charity work. Sadly he has developed apraxia, and now struggles with language. But he’s genuinely loved in the UK, and not just for his hilarious gaffes
Chris Kamara is a legend
An important bit of context is that in England we have a 3pm blackout so you can't legally watch the games that kick off at 3pm on Saturdays so this is the legal way people can follow the games. It's like Redzone but with commentary instead of showing the actual clips.
Gillette Soccer Saturday when it was Good. Nostalgic memories with my ridiculously 20 team accumlator hoping this is the week i turn £1 into £100000 loooool. Kammy was amazing.
I was a crystal palace draw away from a 1mil accumulator in a room full of my mates 96 min all scores in on they score 😢 never bet again.
Pre coof football was among the best I remember, pretty much thanks to SkySports, Jeff and Kammy. Awesome.
Yes, I actually checked my notifications when I heard the alert sound....
You need to check out Chris kamara in the Everton changing room. Hilarious! 😂😂😂
I worked in a hotel bar where Chris,Jim White and others would drink their beers at the bar while discussing football formations with paper and pen every time.
Chris was the manager of my team before he went to reporting and presenting. He’s a hero of mine, the team he put together are the reason I fell in love with football. An absolute legend 🙌🏻
Chris Kamara began playing soccer when he was in the Royal Navy, he then played professionally for several different clubs, later becoming a club manager.
