Jeremy Clarkson's sense of humour is very tongue in cheek which some people just don't get. It's his trademark. He likes slagging off people, countries, politics. You name it, he does it.
Yes. It's a form of facetious banter that Brits and Australians excel at that doesn't always travel well to Americans. There's no hate involved. And if it were at all hateful it would entirely lose all it's humour.
@@IAMDonk you're one of the white boy Nazis, aren't you?
@@IAMDonk Americans have a problem with understanding sarcasm for the most part some get it but the majority don’t have a clue 😅
I am Dutch and found it hilarious 😀
Clarkson is one of those people who doesn’t like being told what to think and that’s why he winds people up. There is a certain type of person who’s heads explode when they hear him and to me that’s kinda funny lol
his other problem is that he isn't very intelligent either
His bank balance tells you it’s irrelevant
@@jotoenatehaaen Other problem? You're obviously one of the people who dislike him.... Let me ask you this, if he's not intelligent, how has he managed to become one of THE most sucsessfull TV-personalities of all time? It's not a matter of dumb luck, he knows what he's doing! Also, have you seen any of his serious documentaries? He's made several documentaries abvout military history, The Victoria Cross, The raid on Saint Nazaire, Inventions that changed the world... I think you're underestimating him quite heavily
@@jotoenatehaaen 😂 I think you need to realise his on screen persona is not the same as his real one. What makes you think he isn't intelligent? His lack of success in a highly competitive industry?
Yeah, that's one of the things I don't like about him. It's such a childish thing to do. It's like the Trumpistas "pissing of the libs" while being little wankers in their basement crying over how fat and ugly they all are.
clarkson is fully aware of what he's doing :P
A lot of his fans aren't - that's where the issue is
@@qman2261 No. The issue is you can't stand someone who has a different view from you. The fact is he's right about electric cars.
@@Jason.King.at.your.service Read my reply more carefully and bear in mind that I'm responding to the original comment on the relatively narrow point about whether Clarkson is playing a character to get a rise out of them. From that you've leapt to an absurd conclusion that I 'can't stand anyone who has a different view from (me)'. How ridiculously aggressive. You don't know me from Adam.
I suggest you calm down and lose the needlessly adversarial language.
As it happens I do disagree with him about electric cars when taken in the round. You haven't specified exactly which point about electric cars Clarkson 'is right about' but he has a tendency to pick the facts that support his view and disregard anything that doesn't. On balance, electric cars are more environmentally friendly than petrol/diesel although they do/may of course still use electricity derived from fossil fuels but the direction of travel is necessarily and inevitably moving towards lower carbon sources so Clarkson's argument on that front is becoming less relevant by the day. Clarkson is intelligent enough to know this but he plays the boorish character that he's developed over the last few decades (for entertainment purposes) and which doesn't fit the broader scientific picture. My point as that many fans view Clarkson as 'the science'
Jeremy - "What's that "thing" on "This Morning?" Phillip Schofield."
Sneaky dig by Jeremy. 😂😂
He probably knew.
What planet are you on? You're a conspiracy theorist too, aren't you?

@@welshgit And you're about as bright as a 5W lightbulb.
Clarkson has two main characters honest journalist and the old age child he plays in top gear/GT. Try reacting to him when he is being a journalist, His Victoria Cross series and his 'inventions that changed the world. Underneath the buffoon is a very intelligent and caring heart.
100%, shocking how many people think that’s what he really thinks and feels
@@vaudevillian7 according to an interview Andy Wilman did with Ben Collins: he's the same bombastic, obtuse man off-camera as he is on camera. He is a born shit-stirrer, as Wilman explains. That doesn't mean he can't also be a very professional journalist and have a heart. People's characters aren't a single thing.
I watched the making of The Greatest Raid of All and he is as enthusiastic about the material off-camera as he is when presenting. He calls the bit where they sail into the harbor, with him on the bow, as the best piece to camera he ever did. Worth the watch, both the documentary and the making of. The effort and dedication that went into the practical effects is amazing. Same with the Wilman interview, it's a two-parter. Lots of behind the scenes conversation and Wilman ripping into Collins endlessly.
In my opinion, he 100% is as you see him on TG/GT but he is also a lot more.

You should check out Clarksons farm if you havent seen it! It actually gives a real insight into British farming along with Clarksons bumbling attempts to run a real commercial farm. (He actually doenst do too badly)
Because of the people he hires. The man is inept at farming. I'm a big fan of all his shows but he is often truly clueless, despite being very intelligent.
I love Clarkson. I love Clarksons farm and classic top gear
Classic Top Gear might not mean what you think it means. I’m old… it started as a serious car show 😉
There's definitely a huge difference in the soh between Yanks and Brits, I remember many years ago when rafting in the Grand Canyon I cracked a pish taking joke with a Yank, he didn't talk to me for the rest of the trip! Bloody good job I didn't start singing a few football chants!
You were in his country - why should he like a pish-taking foreigner?
You mean we've got one and they don't?
In JC, we hear what many of us are thinking but don't express.
Bare in mind that this interview was long before social media so celebrities could get away with being controversial and unhappy people had to complain directly to the BBC rather than venting their anger online for all the world to see so therefore it was much easier to get away with saying what you think on tv back then.
I love Jeremy! He tells it like it is!
It’s all tongue in cheek and typical British humour.
Top gear was in the Guinness book of records for having the most watched show in the world 350 million people in 200 countries watched it . And he always said I am an entertainer don't confuse me with what I say.
Clarkson is not wrong about Electric Cars its all about the mining of the materials for batteries and disposal of exhausted batteries IMO the Green people never talk about this simple fact
Plus the lifetime of those batteries is not that great which requires mining more materials to build replacement parts.
Yep 100%
Your information is years out of date. More cobalt is used the production of liquid road fuel than EV batteries which no longer use it. New battery chemistry makes them long lived and easily recyclable.
@@barnseyfrommossley I agree that modern batteries use a lot less cobalt but the long lifetime or true recyclability still remains to be seen.
@@MikkoRantalainen EV batteries use NO cobalt, unlike petrol and diesel that uses it during the refinement process. CATL have just launched a new battery with a 1,500,000 km warranty!
Clarksons once described someone's hair looking like an

Top gear was at one point the most popular show in the world
Gotta watch Clarksons farm... The man's a legend
Stop apologising for Clarkson, he's voicing an opinion, his opinion, it's not for you to apologise for his opinions! Even if you are reacting to them.
point is you're still plugging them into the mains....which is oil/gas
I like Clarkson, he speaks the way he thinks - he is blunt and to the point.
Your Jonathan Ross accent comment made me crack up 😂
We should tell him his accent is called lisp lol.
Surely you mean cwack up !
Jonathan Ross's accent is called "Estuary English". Added to that is a speech "feature" - it seems a bit strange to call it an impediment - where he pronounced Rs more as Ws.
Tesla tried to sue Top Gear twice and lost both times haha
They lost because the court ruled that no one should take Clarkson seriously 😂😂

Everyone loves Jeremy. He's not serious, it's all typical British banter
Funny you mention Tesla, he did review one on The Grand Tour, but had some solicitors with him due to a previous review.
Clarkson is from Doncaster in Yorkshire, but his accent has been softened by fancy schools. Johnathan Ross is a Londoner, but has a slight lisp.
Look for Clarkson's videos on the Greatest Raid, & the Victoria Cross medal, they show a serious side to him, reminding us that he began as a journalist.
Fun fact; the Netherlands actually can resist a 10 meter sealevel rise with their current waterworks and barriers (including the moderations that are already underway). The low parts of Jezza's homecountry however will drown way before the Dutch have to scale up their defence.
You and the wife should definitely check out clarksons farm. Its so funny but also a nice feel good show.
It's true some people love him some hate him.
Others just have a good laugh.
Johnathan Ross has a very large amazing vintage toy collection & is a serious collector - big respect from me after seeing some of the CZcams videos of the many multiple storage rooms he has full of very rare Sci-Fi/Superhero/Japanese toy figures & vehicles - he really knows his stuff 😎🙌👍

Clarkson is an ignorant, arrogant buffoon. He punched someone at night because it was too late for a meal and could only be offered a sandwich. He has said the "N" word and generally been offensive.
I love Jezza and all of his programmes.
That was quite mild compared to some of the things he's come out with.
You should try watching his review of the Tesla S.U.V. from The Grand Tour. I honestly think it's one of the best, and funniest, reviews he's ever done
It's really sad when someone feels the need to apologise and be careful for "watching stuff".
Really sad times are coming.
sadly this is a shortened edited version of Clarksons interview. you need to find the longer version 😁
I have a Jaguar iPace that goes to 60mph in 4.3 seconds, it’s super fast, comfortable and costs me £8 to fully charge at home. I love it. If you travel lots of miles it wouldn’t be suitable but if you travel less than 250miles a day it’s perfect.
The people that don't like Jeremy Clarkson are folks who do not understand British humour. He's not being serious about most of what he says and unfortunately most folks these days are too PC to even understand that he's just pushing buttons. He is the most entertaining man on TV. Top Gear, The Grand Tour and now Clarkson's farm. Absolute Gold.
Would love to see your reaction to England''s football team's national anthem at euro 96, it's on CZcams and only a minute long. The noise from the crowd was so loud that the singer of the anthem "Paul Young" just stopped and left it to the crowd. Amazing.
Jeremy Clarkson is a national treasure. His Farmland show was a hit. All of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland supports him. Except thise people in London
Clarkson doesn't set out to upset people he just speaks his mind speaks his own truth and as abrasive as people find him he Is a great presenter. As for disliking American culture u doesnt like the over the top excess - didnt stop him preordering the gt40 which he saved about nor his appreciation of Shelby and mustang. Also random fact, his parents were solely responsible for clothing the Paddington bear toys and changing the way Paddington looked for ever after. They put the the duffel coat on him, as he was previously naked bar his hat, and added Wellington boots to him to aid the you to stand up. Clarkson is top shelf. Watch his interview where u talks about clumping piers Morgan, breaking his finger and what he says about piers
Jeremy Clarkson for U.K. Prime Minister. He’s spot on about EV’s too. The great Green Joke & Con.
If you hate Clarkson, then you must be a muppet 😂
People don't like Clarkson because he says what he thinks and usually it's the truth.
can't believe this was nearly 20 years ago!
Watching this some 20 years later as the news has just said feb was 1.6 degrees warmer than the previous record 😂
Jonathan Ross is a Londoner. He has a speech inpediment, so sounds unusual.
Clarksons great he says it how it is and up front 🤣
I love listening to Jeremy Clarkson, he's hilarious. He takes the mickey out of people, institutions, governments etc. People have forgotten what free speech looks like and take themselves too seriously. Brits love mockery incl making light of disastrous situations which carried them through 2 world wars. The British sense of humour is not understood by many people - its slightly cruel, often subtle and very funny and I personally love it
I don’t understand people who don’t like others sense of humour. If you don’t like a particular person then don’t watch or listen to them. It’s that simple really. I love the idea that he triggers people. It’s their own fault 😂😂
Great video. Dont be so scared of offending people man, somebody is ALWAYS going to be offended. You cant please everyone
08:05 - It's like that with these electric cars. The European Union has been telling everyone that diesel cars are more economical. They told it at a time when they weren't. Now they are telling us that electric cars are eco-friendly. Another nonsense.
Jonathan Ross has a speech impediment called Rhotacism which affects how he pronounces the letter R
Somebody clearly had a sense of humour giving a name for it that started with R.....
Jonathan Ross has a british Elmer Fudd "accent". I think he also exaggerates some of his speech affectations.
You probably don't know but Jonathan Ross's wife is the screen writer/producer behind the Kingsmen films, the X-man films and Kick Ass
Love Jonathan Ross and Jezza Clarkson
ross is a cockney from london he has a lisp too lol, clarkson is actually from yorkshire with a posh accent.
I've met them both. They're reasonable blokes.
One interesting thing I’ve learned is that in a fish tank with live plants you need CO2 for the plants to thrive because that is their “food” and the same goes for other plants. plant growth is said to be 25% more now than it was 20 years ago because we are producing more CO2 then we did back then. I don’t know if that is 100% accurate but I don’t think electric cars are better at all in any way
That elastic band on the left needs connecting on the microphone cradle.
The UK had the same temperature as the South of France 200,000 years ago.
When talking about the Prius he is talking about the hypocrisy that goes into making electric or hybrid cars. The lithium mining. The fact that they are worse for the environment.
If you really cared about the environment, you wouldn't buy an all electric car
Ross has roughly a southern or Londonish accent mate but he also has a speech impediment which makes the way he talks unique
Hey King Boomer, it's okay to have an opinion on something, especially JC. Even people that like JC don't really like him, but they do like reminiscing about the days when one did not have to be politically correct all the time. There are plenty of people that don't believe the "environmentally friendly" narrative of the people in charge, and JC specialises in this field.
This clip is 18 years old. Clarkson likes to wind people up by having controversial views, but his views on the environment etc have changed a great deal (at least from what he used to say) since he has been closely involved with his farm in the last 3 years.
I don’t agree with Clarkson on everything, but I’m with him on electric cars. The power to charge them has to come from somewhere. In the U.K. most of our power stations use fossil fuels (gas and coal - although coal is being phased out big time) and nuclear. Both have lots of environmental nasties attached to them. Gas and coal have high carbon emissions. Nuclear doesn’t, but there’s that whole issue with nuclear waste that doesn’t sit easily with everyone.
But that’s nothing compared to the production of the lithium batteries. 77% of the worlds lithium batteries are made in China who mainly use coal as the energy source for the production process. There are some estimates that the production of lithium car batteries produces more CO2 emissions than traditional cars. The Berylls Strategy Advisors (an automotive consultancy) carried out some research in Germany and concluded that a car battery weighing 1,100 pounds emits over 70% more carbon dioxide than producing a conventional car.
And then there’s the mineral waste leakage that often occurs in the extraction and processing of lithium. And the night demand for water in the process which has been associated in some cases with polluting reservoirs. And all of this is before you delve into the world of harmful chemical leakage from discarded lithium batteries in scrap yards and landfills around the world.
Governments and companies around the world are championing electric cars more and more. It’s done so that people think they’re doing a great job in preserving our environment. But it’s a scam devised to attract votes and make money.
I don’t believe you’ll ever undo the damage we’ve done to the environment with technology by creating more technology. If we are all prepared to give up our cars and gadgets and go back to a pre-Industrial Revolution way of life we’d at least stop things getting worse. We’d then have to think of a way to reverse the process. But we’d have to reject our current way of life completely. And nobody, myself included, is willing to do that.
Don't forget that the lithium is mined in Canada and then transported and refined through 3 other countries before arriving in China, where it's put into batteries.
Jeremy Clarkson is fine.
People who dislike him just get wound up by anything.
Clarkson is very much interested in the environment, the climate is changing, but not because of human behaviour.
I love Clarksons farming show despite some of it being recently outed as being scripted. Honestly I don't think any TV is truly factual and unscripted anymore.
Talking about the environment should not have to be political.
The points about Electric Vehicles, the infrastructure is gonna cost billions. When we already have the infrastructure for liquid fuels, so make synthetic fuels.
Would love to see you react to Charlie Brooker: Guns and the USA or his vid on British and American TV News.
Performance electric cars make deafening screaming sounds.
Clarkson is a sensible down to earth normal British bloke who isn't a dreamer, because he's awake! According to Al Gore we should have seen Polar Bears clinging to ice cubes floating down the main street 15 years ago but he's still flying around the world on his private jet spreading climate anxiety, and making lots of money from it.
This is part of the problem, though. You have these views because tabloid headlines were wrong and people like Al Gore weren't entirely correct, but why do you care what they say? Why not read what the majority of scientists are saying in their papers? The opposition is nearly always working class "bloke" types who never had any interest in science or academia until the past 5 years, and now they are suddenly experts on vaccines and climate change because they read some nonsense on Facebook which made more sense to their uneducated brains. A statement like "6c warmer climate means we'd be the same as the south of France!" is such a small minded view that would only make sense to a simpleton.
" shot a car" ! 😂😂😂

Not a lot of people is a fan of the US. I'm certainly not one of them.
Jeremy is blunt about his views but also funny with it. He’s got better over the years
We are dooooomed
He was making the point that a non-petrol car is actually worse for the environment because of whats involved in making the batteries and disposing of them, it wasn't necessarily that he SUDDENLY started caring about the environment, it was the hypocrisy of environmentally "friendly" car-making that he was criticizing.
Free speech man
London accent Ross has. Clarkson roasts everywhere. Everyone. He's not being mean really.
Why do peeps get upset over opinions? Make up your own mind and act on that just ignore others until they become too loud then you may be wrong and reconsider?

The same people that want everyone to drive electric cars is the ones that are against nuclear power. But if england swithes all their vehicles to electric they need to build another 13ish nuclear powerstations that are bigger then what they have now(and keeping the old ones).
Like him or not, JC has started debates on a number of things that needed to be talked about.
