Sony 2-way Rear Projection TV Speaker System - Quick speaker hunting & Free-Air Test (Sony KP-48PS1)

Here is a speaker system out of a street found Sony KP-48PS1 Rear Projection TV! Consists of two 5" (15cm) high-excursion midwoofers and 2" (5cm) paper cone tweeters. Midwoofers have rubber surrounds and a bit of mechanical noises, due to the lack of any ventilation, although they got tons of excursion and power handling! Super beefy construction too, with double stacked ferrite magnets.

They were in a closed ported wooden box, also with insulation, but it was a part of the entire TV chassic, so I couldn't get it.
Midwoofers are actually unbranded, but they have Sony part number (1-529-405-11). So I guess they're actually made by Sony in Malaysa! 20W 8Ω with a 1" voice coil. Very sleek looking black painted baskets!
Tweeters are also unbranded, but Sony part number as well (1-529-404-21). 20w 8Ω, incredibly loud and crisp (more harsh than crispto me). There's a little capacitor that works as a high-pass filter: it's an ELNA 50V 4.7μF cap.
I also got their insulation stuff, which is handy.

Idk what I prefer about this system... Those high excursion beafy woofers or that very tall dust cap on the tweets...that's a veeeery typical Sony set, no ventilation on the woofers and strange design on the tweeters all of that mixed to a lots of power handling. Very nice video again, I'm so happy to see a bit of speaker hunting!

The tweeters seem very alright but those woofers.. DAMN! Considering the tv they came out I half expected it and am half blown away.

Holy these are beefy and that excursion is so nice, so awesome for tv speakers and that last dnb song is fire yeaaah also the woofers look way bigger than 5" in my opinion

EXACTLY what I realized! I tought it was at least a 5.25" driver but no. The fact is that there's a big cone area and the surround is under the cone, so it gives this "illusion" of being a bigger driver. And yeah that DnB song is from YT audio library! I'm impressed

Simply great speakers. The woofer looks soo beefy! And it has really good excursion too! Almost no mechanical noises?! Nice video too.
