Not really a fair assessment or comment, especially from am Aston Villa point of view.
None of the charges for City relate to whether or not they balanced their books as was the case with Everton and Forrest. They did balance the books. The charges relate to how they did it. They are needlessly split into 115 charges in the hope they can get something to stick and to make it seem worse.
Citys owners started off funding the club themselves. Legacy clubs didn't like the likes of Chelseas and Citys emerging and concocted a protectionist set of rules to prevent it again. That protection prevents our owners from funding *their investment* in Aston Villa. You have to speculate to accumulate. How can we hope to stay ahead of Man Utd for 4th spot if they can outspend us by >£200m on transfer fees alone every year?
City were put in a tight spot. Revenues were not enough for further investment and probably were not enough to pay for the squad they had. So they were forced into a position where they would fall short of the rules that came in to stop them no matter what. They simply found a way around that.
The charges relate to 2 main points:
      1. They had sponsorship deals with the owners other companies (mainly Etihad) that were above market value.
      2. They used other companies to pay staff so as those wages would not be on the City books (I think an email leak on Mancini was the main evidence and thing that started all this).
On the commercial deals, "above market value" is extremely difficult to prove. Businesses themselves decide what is best for their advertising budget. Now I'm not totally stupid. They clearly were, but it's hard to prove and as a result of Citys success they would actually no longer be above the market rate now, meaning it could have been a sensible deal all along for Etihad.
On the 2nd point, this is a bit more dodgy for me. However I still don't have a massive problem with it. Let's just say it's true and they wanted to pay Mancini a bonus should he win the league. But that bonus wouldn't be allowed under the rules despite the fact that winning the league would help future revenue streams. So they set up an advertising deal with another of their companies that would actually only be paid were Mancini to win the league with City.
Again this is extremely difficult to prove even if I have no doubt it happened. Beneficiaries are not going to out themselves and that's without needing to aquire confidential accounts from foreign companies. So far as my opinion on it goes, people and businesses should be able to spend their money how they see fit so long as it doesn't break the law.
Citys spending has improved not just City but the entire league. It has rejuvenated a whole area in Manchester and meant a team has been able to now be legitimately financially on par with Utd. This would have all been impossible were the rules in place before the owners bought City.
Let's put ourselves in their shoes. The rules now are holding us back. Swaris owns 6% of Adidas. Now this hasn't happened as the £12m they now pay us per season is actually quite low. But let's say Swaris used his influence in Adidas to get us a deal that was above market rate for a team in our position. Not because he couldn't just fund the club himself but because he had to tick a box on a piece of paper to avoid points reductions and the destruction of his investment so far. Would you be angry with that? Would any fan of any club?
Let's say, that for us to keep Emery he wanted a bonus for another CL qualification. Let's say Edens says; "the club can't pay it because the silly rules will mean despite the fact you've just earned us another £50m, we can't account for that until next year. However I can pay it through my Energy company. Do a 30 second YT advert for me and I'll pay your bonus through the payment for that."
Would you be angry at that?
I have no doubt that City broke rules. However they had no choice, they broke rules aimed more specifically at them, stupid, unfair, protectionist rules that damage a whole league and now our development.
As the saying goes, don't hate the player hate the game.
Legacy clubs tried to rig the game (as they tried with the super league). They came up short trying to rig it against people far more powerful and industrious than themselves. I would also like ours to be a club that can overcome the rigged game.
The charges won't stick. I'd wager that a financial settlement will be made between City and the league. Then We'll still have 1 word YT comments on any video remotely to do with City about "115" by people that didn't bother to look into any of it. And quite frankly I'd take that for my club to be winning leagues.
Sorry for length of comment but such thoughts require fair context above what can be typed in 1 line.

Luiz had a dip in the last part of the season but that shouldn’t make us forget how instrumental he was in the Villa campaign. I’d even say Villa shone when Luiz did as well. He’s one of the key pieces in Villa’s high performance.
He isn’t that easy to replace as well. I’d rather invest around Luiz to ensure he’s always able to play in his best position and not used at utility.

Luiz is the most replaceable player of all of Aston Villas midfielders who start games often.
You can defitely find players that are good at what Luiz has been showing us since December, no issue at all.
You won't find a replacement for players like Youri, McGinn, Kamara as easily as you would for McGinn. Best time to cash in on Luiz is right now, too. I already miss the old Luiz, I wouldn't miss this current version of him, respectfully.

@@user-ik9yh6rh9e respectfully disagree with you on this. It’s exactly the recency bias i am trying to point at. A box to box mid with the impact Luiz had this season is not easy to replace at all. I am talking goals, assists, impact on key games, big chance created… Not downplaying the impact of other Villa midfielders, they are all easier to replace actually. Our Other midfielders are more classic in their role and contribution. Kamarra is important but a classic 6 you can find def mid like him, Tielemans has been a good addition but his overall impact this season isn’t near Luiz’s and you can replace Tielemans relatively easily. You cannot sell him easily that’s true but it’s another question. And both Kamarra and Youri are players that had dips earlier in the season arguably for longer than Luiz. Just not at the end… McGinn is out of question anyway.
      Who could replace Luiz easily?

As you both already stated ffp is what it is and it’s something that we just all need to deal with and move forward but that being said it is still going to be extremely difficult to increase our quality within the team whilst trying to balance the books and subsequently having to sell players that we would love to keep , and earned the right to keep. The reason why I have such a problem with the current situation is when FFP was originally brought in it was done so without any handicap given to the teams that had already achieve success by spending money hence a gap was formed that is increasingly harder to breach given that we are held to stringent rules that they were not. Luckily, we have Unai and Monchi at the helm to deal with the transfers, I have no greater faith in any pairing at a management level. UTV

I think with Luiz, it's worth considering that we already have the player to replace what he does in Tielemans. For me, Tielemans best position is a deep lying passer alongside the 6, which is what Luiz does for us. Obviously Tielemans has been deployed further up the field and has been effective there, but I still think, in terms of his best position, would be him deeper with McGinn further forward as McGinn is better at driving the team forward, whereas Tielemans is better at finding the pass to release our forwards.
So if we got an £85m+ bid for Luiz from a R.Madrid/Arsenal etc etc, I would probably go for it and reinvest in 2 full backs and a DM. As for me, these are the only positions we really need more depth. With Ramsey, Mings, Rogers coming back in we have a good squad of players.

If we are in a position where we have to sell someone I think if we get a £60m+ offer for Luiz we cash in - surely that's 'pure profit' at this point given how long he's been here and for the relatively small fee we paid? I'd rather sell him than Ramsey to be honest. He's been fantastic and really kicked on under Emery, but does he feel irreplaceable? I don't think he is to be honest. But who knows? No one really knows what's going on with the finances apart from a few people within Villa.

I think we should loan out Duran - deserves more game time and he’d be the one that got away if we sell him. I’d loan him out to one of the Spanish teams in Europe …. Girona? Athletico? - he’d probably mature a lot under Simeone.
I’ve always felt a bit bad for Hause - is he even fit now? If so I think Deano should take him to Charlotte for the rest of the season - get him game time and confidence so another team can grab him in the January window.

In my opinion, this coming season CL aside the Prem will be full on, everyone will have their players back from injury, a combo of new managers, new players. All doing what we are doing. Some tough decisions will need to be made.
I agree with the comments about Luiz. I've been disappointed with some of his actions in the latter half of the season when we needed his leadership most. He showed a surprising lack of maturity, judgment and poor energy. But will trust UE on this one.
Taking a step back, what problems are we trying to solve?
Looking at our weaknesses through the season. A poor winning mentality and belief in ourselves often undermined us. I'd say the following should be dictating what we do:
Firstly squad is too small, not enough quality to swap out midfield players especially. Its now a squad game not favoured 11 and subs, bench warmers.
The other issue that occurred time and again by the collective team was poor clinical finishing, intensity drop offs, too slow a pace mistaken for quality possession and a real lack of inspired creative thinking, taking a match by the scruff of the neck forcing the opposition to react. Great problems to have, looking forward to seeing how we tackle them.

We signed a LB called Sousa from Arsenal which means either digne or Moreno is going. To say if one of those goes we have to replace him doesn't make sense. We will definitely not have 3 LBs i can tell you that much!
We signed a RB from Serbia called Kosta and loaned him back to Red Star.
We've also got Hesler there as well.
It wouldn't surprise me if Unai did cash in on Cash (see what I did there lol). If it means we can keep Dougie and Ramsey and adhere to PSR, then I'd happily let Cash go.
Regarding CBs, you only need the 4. The 5th will or should be, from our much talked about successful youth/u21 set up. No point poaching the best youngsters across Europe and the UK to not then give them a pathway to the first team.
We've got Bogarde, Finley, not forgetting Josh Feeney (CB), who's allegedly meant to be the next best thing after sliced bread.
If Liverpool can do it with players like Quansah coming in this season at CB, why do villa not do that?
It infuriates me when we are getting pummelled by palace and we decide to bring chambers on instead of Tim ireg. We need to give Timmy game time if we want him to progress.
In a time when we are all crying about PSR you have to promote the youth players.
Anyway, please do a bit more prep, it's always been about quality over quantity, or should be anyway.

      @imranhaa Před měsícem

@@Davies2710 Sousa will be back up he's not going to be in the first team. It's been highlighted by every media outlet that we've got PSR to deal with. Either digne or Moreno will be sold to balance the books, and I think it will be digne due to his reported £150k wages.
It has also been mentioned that Unai's plan was initially to play Torres LB with Mings and Konsa CB and the RB attacking.
This changed due to injuries so instead Unai played Konsa RB for large parts and attacked on the left.
My point was that if digne or Moreno do get sold, they won't be replaced as was mentioned in this episode, due to the reasons I've mentioned above.
Regarding Kosta, you don't spend c£6.5m on a RB as your first January signing just to keep loaning them out, especially as we know how meticulous Unai is! The guy was playing champions league football for red star and played against City.
Depending on this injury and pre season, he will be in the squad and challenging for a first team place.
It was constructive criticism, that's all. I generally believe having less episodes but more depth and quality, is better than putting out episodes just for the sake of it. But that's just my opinion 👍🏽
