Update: As of December, starting with November batches... they apparently come with a newer firmware that helps with FreeSync issues and the purple trailing. My panel was from October. I may try and see if I can get this newer revision. Anyone interested in this monitor should try and get a panel from at least November.
Hi did u get a panel from November or December? I also read on some forum that panels after October have less problems with purple trails. By the way if you buy the monitor on Amazon how can you know if the panel is recent or old? They will tell you if you send them an email?
We will see. I've yet to see anyone who has a confirmed 2017 batch complain. Mine is from this year. A mix of firmware and perhaps improved QC might make a difference.
Hi Racer Pros, the latest C24 monitors that i read about were December models with Firmware 1004. You are saying you have a January model with another firmware version? If yes can you tell me something about the purple trail with your new model? Thank you
Definitely the best overview of the monitor so far. Thanks for the more in-depth look into it. One thing you should have noted down though is the IO. But otherwise, great overview.
you lost me at about one minute in when you started talking about how "at least they put in three buttons for presets." That's an incredibly valuable feature for any serious gamer/power user.
Will the GTX 780Ti work with the AMD FreeSync? The price isn't that expensive as the ASUS gaming monitor. What is your opinion of this monitor? I'm interested in the 27'.
The 780ti doesn't work with Freesync, you need an AMD card for that, and I can tell you that the 27" version has more quality control issues than the 24", it seems like they have more blacklight bleed and clouding which distorts the colors around the edges, I do like the 27" because I like the size and the curve is more noticeable but if you want to avoid issues is better to go with the 24 if you're going to buy one, oh and its cheaper obviously.
does changing the response time to faster or fastest means you'll be stuck with 50% brightness or would you be able to set the brightest before changing the response time?
Just bought this and sat a good distance away from the screen. Pixels are visible, visible jaggies, some black light bleed on bottom of screen, black crush at 20 black Equalizer. I'm happy but it's definately not worth 2.5x the price of my old 24/1080 Asus TN monitor.
So is there a big difference between the samsung and eizo contrast and colour? 5000:1 contrast ratio is nice on eizo, i wonder why samsung only have 3000:1
Actually... It enhances the aim as you are more naturally focusing on the center point of the monitor instead of the sites searching for the movement as with curvature everything is more centralized to the eye.
Recently I switched to this monitor from dell 1080p 60hz... After 3 days usage I am feeling uncomfortable to use this 144hz monitor having irritation as well as strain in my eyes.. I am using gtx 1060 6gb card so it barely cross 100 fps and I kept 120hz in the monitor refresh rate....is there any adjustments in the display settings for comfortable use?
i got 3 problems. backlight bleeding/leakage when black color background in dark enviroment, when eyes saver mode setting is on got some kind of horizontal tone on black color background & small lights coming out between screen and bezel. Got 3-4 place on left & right side of the monitor
My sample in this video did not have any backlight bleed, only very slight clouding which could only be seen from a camera. I would send it back and get a different sample.
You can see the artifacting on cam, yes. Had to send back mine, but more because i was able to *hear* it... cant stand the feeling of constant sound in my ears. Switched to another VA monitor, as always, its either ghosting or artifacting, but thats the downside to them. From the picture quality its a great monitor, but so is mine now :) Hope you have fun with yours.
Racerprose lenovo y27f. The reaction time isnt quite as fast, and it tends to light clouding, but im very happy with it. The same panel as the acer z271. Not that the cfg70 is worse, but as i said, when i hear a monitor, its disqualified
That's interesting. I tried a Lenovo y27g, the g-sync version and found the same. Clouding/backlight bleed and not as fast. Can you describe more on what issues you had with the Samsung sounding like? I have not heard anything. Is a form of electrical/coil whine?
Racerprose Yes, but i dont want to ruin your experience if youre happy :) sounded like coil whine from gpu´s, but it was (CLEARLY) the monitor. As always, high pitched noises may not be heard by everyone. In the end, it comes to personal preferences - may just have been bad luck. Im quite happy with the F, despite the downsides.
Hi Racerprose, do they have an incoming g-sync version on this? and what AMD video card can play all current games at max right now to partner on this monitor? I was planning to buy gtx 1080 and this monitor.. but it only supports free-sync any advice? thanks and great vid!
I have not heard about anything with G-Sync. Samsung seems to be embracing FreeSync at the moment. The curved Acer Z271, however, uses the same Samsung panel, without the quantum dot tech, and has G-Sync. It is also 1080p, but is bigger at 27''.
Hey there, so, this is the only panel on the market that doesn't use shitty TN panel colors AND has 1ms response time?? 144hz IPS panels are crazy expensive and they have 5ms response time which is unplayable for CS or quake. I'm having a tough time with colors and contrast since CSGO is such a bleak-colored game already. Also curious to why I know of no pros or any talk of this monitor sweeping the market. I bought the LG 24GM-77(equal to standard benq) in december and will feel like a fool if this monitor does everything mine does but doesnt have the worlds worst colors.
In my experience, since the audio jack on the monitor is audio "out," you should be able to plug in speaker monitors. I've got a BenQ right now and I plugged in my speaker monitors and I've got awesome sound coming out of them. I am however very interested in this Samsung CFG70, the 27".
Mine was built in febrary 2017 anda has flickering issues at 144hz and image gets corrupted when freesync is on. Amazon has no global warranty. And quality test sucks. Dont buy this monitor
oh your right... I just rechecked and its actually 1080p for both model... goodbye samsung... www.fudzilla.com/news/41460-samsung-launches-three-quantum-dot-curved-gaming-panels
Great Monitor Review. Those Black Levels are absolutely phenomenal!

8-bit
Another update: I have a new sample coming that I am going to test that has a newer firmware.
We will see. I've yet to see anyone who has a confirmed 2017 batch complain. Mine is from this year. A mix of firmware and perhaps improved QC might make a difference.

Why do they always fuck up with 1 important aspect. it's either 1080(old) and 144hz or 1440p and 60hz

I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger and getting three of these
Can't hurt to try?
I can clearly see how the Foris is angled toward the camera causing gamma shift and washed out colors. This is not a fair comparison!
quantum dot monitors dont have any backlight bleeding i see... is this right?
does changing the response time to faster or fastest means you'll be stuck with 50% brightness or would you be able to set the brightest before changing the response time?
Setting to Faster or Fastest means you cannot control the brightness and I have no idea what it sets the level to. And you can't trick it.
Great video! Helhed a lot :)
Is it 16.7 million colors or 1 billion colors? I know it's not HDR, but it is supposedly 125% rgb.
Thanks for spoiling avatar for me ;) great review

is this the 24" model as the 27" model does not have that purple artifact stuff (I read that often in some reviews, cant personally confirm tho)
So is there a big difference between the samsung and eizo contrast and colour?
5000:1 contrast ratio is nice on eizo, i wonder why samsung only have 3000:1
Hope it goes on sale again
I was surprised to see it went on sale so soon after release, definitely could happen again!
That black clipping bothers me really. You cannot see the details in the dark areas. I couldn't live with it. Is it so on most backlight settings?
With the black equalizer you can adjust this. VA monitors tend to be darker, out of the box.
Does the curvature affect your ability to aim in FPS in any way?
molotoveverything that's what I want to know!
Actually... It enhances the aim as you are more naturally focusing on the center point of the monitor instead of the sites searching for the movement as with curvature everything is more centralized to the eye.
I would say the curve makes you feel more immersed being so close. It works better than say a curved television in a bigger room.
Recently I switched to this monitor from dell 1080p 60hz... After 3 days usage I am feeling uncomfortable to use this 144hz monitor having irritation as well as strain in my eyes.. Thank you for the great review! How can you get it this fast??
I have Nvidia. GTX 1060. I want to use this with freesync OFF. I shouldnt have any problems? Thanks
so is this monitor 1080p or what?
You can see the artifacting on cam, yes. Had to send back mine, but more because i was able to *hear* it... cant stand the feeling of constant sound in my ears. What other monitor did you switch to?
Racerprose
lenovo y27f. The reaction time isnt quite as fast, and it tends to light clouding, but im very happy with it. The same panel as the acer z271. Not that the cfg70 is worse, but as i said, when i hear a monitor, its disqualified

I also send back the other one and looking forward to benq xl2730. lets see how that works out.

The Samsung is 24''.
I have now heard that Samsung needs to work more on the QD tech to work well with G-Sync. Apparently they are coming.
Racerprose
That's just rumours and probably wishful thinking.
how long was the display port cable?i'm thinking on buying the 27 inch one but i want to know if the length was long enough
Did you buy the 27 and if so how do you like it?
Hey there, so, this is the only panel on the market that doesn't use shitty TN panel colors AND has 1ms response time?? 144hz IPS panels are crazy expensive and they have 5ms response time which is unplayable for CS or quake. Hi, does this monitor have a built in speakers? mine does not have any sound. Its connected to my Xbox one. Appreciate it
Not that I can see, however, you can hook up your headphones to the monitor and get sound
Appreciate it bro.

What is the movie that he's using?
Avatar & Prometheus
monitor stand stable/hold strong? is it wobble /shake sensitive?
I did not find this. However, the arm and base can be problematic if you don't have a good amount of clearance on your desk.
Whats the diference vs samsung s24d590plx pls and benq bl2711u ahva and this one.
Those are IPS tech. So you will have nice colors and viewing angles, but low contrast and IPS glow.
Does anybody paint or draw with these curved monitors? Is it nice?
100Hz is great for 50Hz content
Mine was built in febrary 2017 anda has flickering issues at 144hz and image gets corrupted when freesync is on. Amazon has no global warranty. And quality test sucks. Dont buy this monitor
ffs samsung.... why free sync ????
Most likely cost. They don't want to pay the fee to nVIdia.
why not?
63Jax because i am using gtx 1080...? and why would you buy amd if you have money to buy a premium gaming monitor?
justin vistin cfg70 is 1440p (27")
oh your right... I just rechecked and its actually 1080p for both model... goodbye samsung...
