About Acting Lessons: Acting Lessons by Dr PinkCake is a drama-filled adult Visual Novel (VN) with many different endings.
The choices you make in this game, even early on, will permeate throughout the game and affect the people around you and your adventure. The game is centered around the relationship between Jonas (or your name of choice for the main character) and Megan, but there are multiple women in the cast that you can pursue. Will you be there for Megan and stay faithful to her or will you fall in love with her childhood friend Melissa? Perhaps you find someone else more intriguing, for instance, the nurturing nurse Leah or the blue-haired actress Rena? I absolutely love this game. I felt depressed for 3 days straight after finishing it due to the choice of having to save Megan or Melissa which completely threw me off-guard. i was expecting a happy ending with both girls but the game had other plans. it was the first time i played one of these games and actually felt a connection to the characters in ways other than just sexual so hats off to the developer and hats off to you for taking the time to bring the attention of the game to everyone :)

Out of all the wonderful depth this game provides. What truly made me cry relentlessly was Liam’s character arc. I had a friend with a VERY similar circumstance and attitude to Liam’s. After episode 8 I was a tearful mess. RIP Chris I love you forever bro

2:03:02 This scene during Melissa's path, which is basically a time lapse of Liam rebuilding MC and Melissa's lives, is one of the greatest and most powerful scenes in visual novel history and might be the best I have seen in any medium.
I never thought that type of game could make me fall in love with a fictional character, Melissa 🥺❤️. I got happy ending with her, but broke me when the game finished cause i wasn't ready to leave her yet.
I just finished this game last night, and it tore me apart, but I loved it!
I personally went a more monogamous route. I denied everyone except Megan and I can solidly say that this led to the most satisfying and meaningful ending. Everything makes more sense when you don't start a relationship with Melissa. instead of Megan worrying about if you are going on dates with Melissa and how they went. She's more focused on thanking you for being good to all of her friends. In turn, this deepens the relationship between you and Megan. Something I found interesting is when you arrive at the house on fire and break the window in an attempt to save them, you don't have an option to save Melissa. If you don't pursue a relationship with Melissa and keep things strictly platonic, you don't have an option to save her. Also, it wouldn't make much sense if you were to pursue a relationship with Megan and then out of nowhere decide to save her best friend instead.
I agree with you. I exclusively dated Megan in my 2 first playthroughs and this was such an emotionally powerful experience. And I must have cried through the entirety of the last chapter! 😅 Melissa's death, despite being just a close friend, hit me like a truck. It felt so injust that a joyful young woman like her was killed just as life started to smile at her. She never had the chance to be trully happy. I was a real wreck. I'm just starting a playthrough where I will try to romance Melissa. I hope that I will find a way to do so without having to do it behind the back of Megan.
I will say even your review is an understatement of how good the writing of this game is. It is just an actual masterpiece with sexual game mechanic as a feature. It is so good at writing good characters, with my absolute favourite being Melissa. It vividly showed us her psychological activity and development.
A good point is being made regarding the discussion of menage a trois. The part where Melissa is angry with MC for not knowing how she feel and then confessed to Megan for had sex with MC and the three people talk that led the agreement for dating both parallelly is my favourite scene in the game. One that I will just keep returning to just to re-experience the feeling of love among the three characters.
I just think that as a character, Melissa has the most depth among all characters, second being Liam. Her loves toward MC and Megan, her insecurity about love and the use of sex as facade.

That game would be awesome even with much tamer sex scenes. The game is 100% worth it just because of the writing. The last time that I cried as much because of a fictional story was when I saw Shireen Baratheon being burned at the stake in the Games of Thrones series.

Beat the game 4 times 4 different endings but its so sad that you have to pick only 1 girl to save from the buring home. Episode 6 will kill your heart its hella sad, brings tears in your eyes. 😢 i play it years ago and i still cry. The music at the end of episode 6 will make you cry.😭

its just incredible.
you start the game thinking it will be a lovely story, here and there some sexual content, but NO. i felt like "oh sweet summerchild".
at first i didnt give a crap about Liam bc as said i didnt thought much about the game but he grew closer. i assume it was bc of the "friendship stats / status" and his persona.
when it was about that he will die.. it totally hit me unprepared.
right after like no time then this choice appears (the major one) oh boy, i needed a break. i couldnt continue.
im glad i man'd up and kept going till the game was over. its really special. i will never forget this game.

Having just started playing this game it sounds like it hits pretty hard, story wise. Played a game that sounds very similar to this called "Leap of Faith" last year that has an amazing story that's both beautiful and tragic yet inspirational If you ever get a chance give it a go. It's on steam.

I loved this game. I think calling it erotica rather than porn is more accurate. I think it would be less jarring for North American audiences if our mainstream media didn't pretend everyone is celibate. I mean sure the sex is a bit over the top but all aspects of fiction are usually cranked up to 11. Nobody would suggest Dawson's Creek is an accurate portrayal of high school for example. And even so I think plenty of people had sexually charged relationships and just play stupid sex in their 20s. And maybe I just hang with a more open crowd but even though I have no personal experience with poly relationships several people in my immediate social circle have so 3 way relationships are not weird to me. My play through was mostly the same. The break in scene played out a bit different and the corrupt cop executed Peter for being a loose cannon. Apparently he was buying dope stolen from evidence lockup. I chose to save Melissa (there was no good options there). It leads to some slight differences where your protagonist remembers Megan's improve in a flashback and uses it to save Melissa from Leah. So it is like Melissa saved them both from the grave. At Megan's funeral her judgement asshole dad tries to blame her death on pursing her dream and Melissa slugs him. No baby with Melissa but the girl who at first could not express or deal with feelings proposes to the protagonist which also makes for a huge emotional moment. I also think Liam and Rena are good together because he seems particularly good on calling her out on her bullshit and they make each other better people. I also think the medium works to the story's advance when all these small details about Leah you are not paying attention to come crashing down like a ton of bricks.
Also I can’t help but think is the ending outro music a rendition of and old school runescape song? 🔥🔥🔥
Its close to two years (i think) when i finished this game, and obviously Dr Pinkcake (developer) wanted that MC ends with Megan but there was no way im not gonna save Melissa she was the best.

Yep! You end up proposing to Melissa instead, and it's an equally heartbreaking story filled with a lot of guilt. It's definitely a path worth following as well

It freaked me out when I realized Megan had the same moles that Ana did, which is probably why he was so struck by her in the store in the first place: trapped repeating unconscious patterns.
I've only played through once, so I don't know how widely different the endings are.
I imagined one in which the main character ends up dying from one too many head traumas, and the rest is of the other characters dealing with his death, the final 'meaning of Acting Lessons' revealed years later with a much older Megan dedicating her Oscar to him for teaching her that acting is just living life honestly without holding back
Maybe that's the version in which the two women live
Perhaps a third option, "Save both no matter what", martyrdom in which all the characters get back together, like 'The Big Chill', the sequence unfurling on several branches depending on every choice the main character already made, like 'Defending Your Life'

I randomly found your house party video and your opinion on adult media / the history is really interesting. So I bought the game and started played it. I've got 10 hours of playtime so far, and it's a fun, silly game.
I then found this video and decided I was gonna try this game as well. I played it (megan path) and I actually really liked it. It made me realise that I love a good story with drama and emotion.
However I noticed that not only games like these, but also porn are mainly written from a mans perspective, for a male audience.
That made me think... what about media/entertainment aimed at woman? Is it different? How so?
So I wanted to find a way to experience that side of the subject as well. I went to a bookstore and bought 2 books: Twisted love, and it ends with us. Since these books are mainly aimed at women, I'm curious what my opinion will be when I finish them.
So, I guess 1 of your videos made me curious about this subject and lead to me diving in this rabbit hole.

I'll be honest. I can't handle heartbreaks. I played dual family and I raged and cried...over a fictional character. Well, I won't be playing this game because I hear it's a lot worse. So thank you to those who played it and reviewed it. You saved me weeks of anger.

I think "Dickie A Cumming: The Prequel (Part I)" is a much better visual novel. It recently came out on Steam. Great characters, great humour, real heart and written by a famous paperback author.
This game broke me, I didn't expect this game to be this ... heavy. I am broken at the ending I got, the only good thing for me is that Liam survived and is happy with Rena. 🥲
