I think he tried to tell the committee he would have nothing to say before hand [saving everybody time & trouble], and I question his lawyers judgement. If forced to appear, ok: testify that nobody in the room can waive the presidents choice to exercise or waive executive privilege, and no further statement is possible. Democrats wanted the photo op/serial press conference... which is how things usually go. Bannon didn't have to even invoke the 5th as I see it: the committee was out of order, and he had no power to provide any cure where they demanded a breach of the executive branch. Bring a good book, pour a cup of coffee, and for the blowhards trying desperately to forge procedural error and nonsense, repeated this: Which one of you has taken the presidential oath? ... My opening comments stand.

To be fair, the subpoena he ignored was from Congress and not a legitimate court. This has nothing to do with the law everyday day citizens are confronted with. This is a bunch of nonsense.
