Is Toad the Brakevan evil? | A novelty Thomas Theory

That said if you wanted to write your own material based on this theory then go for it!
It's a cursed world we live in. Today I contribute to the cursed nature of our existence by staining the good boy reputation of Toad the Brakevan. He did nothing to deserve this bless him, but it would all make perfect sense!

There is a similar theory relating to the RWS version of Toad Stands By. Unlike in the TVS, Toad was a part of the train with which Oliver tore S.C.Ruffey in half in the RWS. So theoretically, Toad could've planned for S.C.Ruffey to be ripped in half by Oliver, but obviously Oliver would've never agreed so he had to think of a cover. It worked and Toad was put on the train by Oliver, just in case. But Toad wanted to be sure S.C.Ruffey gets his due, so when the other trucks put their brakes on, he did so too and that little bit of extra braking power is what killed S.C.Ruffey.
Regardless of whether Toad has it in for the engines or not, I genuinely believe he wanted Scruffey in pieces xD

@@ketelieappolon3617 In the book version Duck is shown genuinely disturbed by Scruffey's demise. I find it hilarious that they had him grinning in the TV adaptation 😂

We can have this work in the canon by having Toad tell the other brakevan in Twin Trouble to cause chaos, by claiming that Douglas is a brakevan killer and using that argument to convince the brakevan to harm Douglas. We can say that brakevan in the episode just saw an opportunity and used it.
Right, retconning the retcon because this makes Toad feel more evil! (must remember to add this and credit you when I do a recap for the eventual Part 2, if I may of course!)

This is a novel idea and I love it. I don't see toad as this mysterious evil mastermind, But it's just harmless fun at the end of the day, and I'm all for it!

Ah cheers! I do want to make a follow up some time soon, but I'm gonna wait until I have a solid enough idea of where Toad's scheme is going and how things play out.

I was thinking it could possibly play into that episode of the Brenner Era with James and Toad, and maybe Toad gets James into an accident or something, or even make an original story entirely, I'd be down to see it!
I've kept the Brenner stuff in mind for sure, Toad really shone in those years! I do consider CGI series it's own thing though so it's more likely going to be it's own story going forward. Plus if anyone wants to come up with ideas how things go from here I'm keeping my eyes peeled :)

I’d like to expand to this theory:
Maybe toad learned that Donald and Douglas were prone to falling out so he decided to take his plan one step further. (This takes place during the episode love me tender) Before Douglas leaves with Donald, toad tells the Scottish engine that his tender was loose and offers to tighten it. Douglas agrees, and tells his driver to tighten the coupling. Toad tricks Douglas’s driver into loosening it, and the episode happens as normal.

Absolutely daft, but that's half the fun of these sorts of theories. I do think Toad recognized that Scruffy might get ripped apart, though. I mean, he was obviously in terrible shape.

I can easily see a heartfelt episode coming with toad and the trucks leading Douglas into a serious accident, where toad admits his motivations, and completely rips into Douglas before eventually the twins and the break van get together in harmony.
In fact, it's a great idea for AU or something like that.

I think that this is true, somewhat.
This DID happen on Sodor, but it was probably some other brakevan who basically lost his mind over time. Toad had mixed feelings on the Spiteful Brakevan, but at the same time it kinda had it coming, it was an L.N.E.R brakevan ( this could be a rivalry thing, or maybe… something about races? ) and well, something. I don’t know.

Absolutely not we all saw how bad the spiteful break van got smashed we even saw his face separated from the rest of his body in the television episode plus in the RWS he is a NE 20- ton break van and in the TVS he is a BR 20- ton break van where as Toad as we all know is a GWR Toad break van so logical there's no way they're the same break van because the spiteful breakvan would be dead

What happen next was duck ruins toad’s plan by yelling to Douglas “DONLAD’S IN TROUBLE!” and Douglas left him alone the save his twin. Ended up have the bond back together and toad mad at duck.
Duck needs to stay out of the picture or Toad has a problem :o I have considered working that "Donald in trouble" scene into Part 2!
I wonder how many conspiracy theories started out as jokes, just as this video was, only to accidentally get taken seriously and become something bigger than their creators ever intended.

Ive always had this theory about Douglas and Toad in the ending of "Little Western" that when that Douglas wanted to keep Toad as his brakevan before Oliver kept him to himself in future stories Ive always thought that Douglas wanted to keep Toad forever to himself without sharing with Oliver since he sees him more polite and charming than the spiteful one that he killed.

@@mechanicalshed4556 I feel like in the RWS, when it mentions Toad being Douglas' breakvan for some time, Douglas probably wanted Toad to be his breakvan for now on for how respectful he is to him than the Spiteful one. But that doesn't last forever.

I like to believe Bertram worked on Mid-Sodor as per Unlucky Tug's headcannon. I have been putting together my own timeline but it's gonna be a long time before that's ready for the public eye xD

please pin this comment for my theory: You know how donald derailed in twin trouble? what if donald was trying to spite douglas and took toad instead but toad thought it was still douglas so in return asked "douglas" to put him on a siding, knowing he was in a bad mood and wasn't focusing he knew hed not see the buffers and derail, Donald hit the buffers and derailed but as he did toad saw the number 9 and realised he messed up as Donald plunged into the pit, he realised what toad had done and was furious, douglas soon arrived and Donald explained,, both twins set there glares on the brakevan, that night whilst the others were sleeping the twins made the excuse to use toad for a goods to barrow, they took him there....they left him on a siding in the smelting shed and painted scrap all over as the brakevan tried to plee his case, the shed doors shut, and toad..was left for dead..
The dark theory where Toad definitely doesn't win!

The theory that Joy is the main villain of Inside Out really annoys me. This, for some reason, doesn't do the same. It's a possible but stupid idea, whereas the Inside Out theory is complete bullcrap.
Isn't the Inside Out theory one that people are taking seriously? I feel like with that one it's a case of it being too obvious if it was to be true. Glad this Toad one doesn't have the same effect, I still get jokes about this novelty 😂
