One thing my mother in law used to do to her plants (fake and real) was to adorn them with her own jewelry or shiny things she bought. She will add necklaces and beads and feathers and shiny anything to the plant leaves and stems, and the way they displayed were beautiful!! She past at end of 2021 her stuff is in storage but once we can get all of her things out I want to honor her memory by doing the same with her stuff in my plants😊
Aww i do the same but i put the blings on the pot, also i like to put sunglasses on it so it looks like a planty face 🪴😎
What a beautiful thing to do.! ❤️
I’ve got a thing about that!!! Most of my plants display jewellery that’s bought or gifted as it looks good to us so why hide it away in a box. ✌🏼😻✌🏼
There's something about this that is so precious, thank you so much for sharing.
That’s such a beautiful idea ✨🌱✨
This video is full of awesome ideas, and the comments are also full of inspiration!! My only 'unique' plant pots are old tea pots. I'm English and find pretty tea pots at thrift stores. I sort of cut up the sides of the nursery pot and put them plants in there. If I overwater I just pour the 'tea' out the spout! 😂. Thanks again!!
I’ve recently fallen in love with thrifting for milk glass, so naturally anytime I’m able to find a new piece it gets added to my little propagation station - feels like a planty tea party every time I walk into my kitchen
I’m a milk glass ADDICT! I’ve yet to find a plant that looks bad in one!
when you use the cholla wood just a forewarning- it rots really easy so attach it to a metal stake or something that will actually sit in the soil!
I love using interesting items for hanging plants. Bird cage stands, antique floor with arm, and my favorite an IV stand I found in the trash. It holds two hanging plants, it's very sturdy and has wheels! My other favorite thing is to add different heights by using candle stands and other elevation accessories.
On Janee Simone's channel she hung her plants on the wall with wire baskets from dollar tree. I would have never even considered it but it's beautiful. Wall planters are so expensive. I just got a 5 lb command hook and a gold wire basket from dollar tree stuck the basket on the hook put a trailing plant in, perfection. For like $4.
I have used pedestal candle holders for my smaller plants, especially for those that hang a little bit. I have candle holders of different heights and sizes and it's fun to group them or just to pop one on a surface between some other plants, just to elevate one of them.
You can find them at thrift stores pretty inexpensive.
I do the same
What a great idea

We have a 3ft x 3ft south facing window in our shower- so I have my aroids all over each wall, with them hanging from each other (and from that one down, and that one down) until our shower is like bathing in a jungle!! My hubby doesnt totally appreciate bumping his head on pot bottoms, but I LOVE it !! I hang out w conditioner in my hair and water it all w the detachable shower nozzle! Great times!
Instead of a standard pole, plank or trellis, I use crib rails and expandable laundry racks.
I like surrounding my vinyl records with my plants. Love the vibe
Candle holders for thick candles make great display stands for bonsai. I have a marble one I use for a ficus religiosa in an Aztec/Mayan pot I drilled a hole in.

I bought a hessian table runner with lace on the edges to tack hanging down the wall. I use it for training a melanochrysum up. It doesn't root into it, but it seems to like it fine. I use velcro tape looped through the hessian when I need to secure new growth. Looks rustic and cute. I also have a drinks cart that I bought thinking we'd be fancy but we never used it - makes a great plant stand/table. Chic and sexy. I also have gold pineapple LED string lights amongst some of my trailing plants. Because the LED isn't hot, it doesn't harm the plant and gives a really fun vibe. Oh, also, for a bunch of plants on a table or shelf, cake stands are great to get different heights and levels of display.
This video is an explosion of creativity
OH. MY. GOSH. I am IN LOVE with the display at 4:33 !! I recently became obsessed with dioramas and wanted to make a jungle-inspired one to memorialize the incredible views I saw in Hawaii on a solo trip last year. THIS LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE IT. I can't express enough how excited and moved I am to see this and will be watching your tutorial next. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CREATING THIS.
I grow a lot of propagations out of my fish tank. I successfully propagated two peperomia piccolo that way!
I've taken the long vines of my exotica and marble queen pothos and started wrapping them between the bedposts on my bed. I ran string back and forth between the posts at the head and foot to help secure the vines and then I have the planter hanging in the window that is against my bed. It's like having a jungle on my bed.
What a gorgeous idea!
That sounds really cool! 💖
The bottom shelf of my plant shelf gets pretty much NO light. I thrifted an aquarium that fits that shelf perfectly. The aquarium has an LED light in the lid. So filled the bottom of the tank with white gravel (to keep it as bright as possible) and it now houses a bunch of my smaller plants (great way to battle the cluttered look, too.)
I have another thrifted fish tank sitting on my bathroom vanity which now houses all the ferns that I thought I had killed. I am using two (thrifted) LED Desk lamps for lighting. Because I am at that sink several times a day, and have water right there, LOL, I actually REMEMBER to water them. The ferns are thriving! WHOOP!
A fish tank for plants is a great idea! I think I may find one to use as a propagation box with maybe perlite and a bit of vermiculite....it would be perfect to hold in the moisture, give it light, and look beautiful where I can pay attention to them! Thanks for the idea, I love it.
I love the wood slab!!!!! ❤
What type of stores does he find these??
I like using interesting candlesticks for my strings of things! I have my variegated string of hearts on a black one and it makes her colors stand out even more.
First off I AM OBSESSED WITH THE VEST!
Secondly, ur joy in this video is contagious & love all of these ideas it’s so refreshing to hear new display methods ❤
Really like the floor lamp planter. I have the perfect area in my house for it.
Every year when I have to repot larger plants, I struggle to find pots big enough and large planters are expensive! I search Goodwill, flea markets and garage sales for enameled pots, old wash tubs, large punch bowls, which I prime with spray paint and then spray with a stone-look finish, large baskets, and large crocks. I always plant in large nursery pots or terra cotta pots and place those inside my decorative pots. I use old stools or wooden high chairs to elevate large plants to draw the eye up. Sometimes I’m lucky enough to find antique plant stands at a reasonable price. I say experiment with whatever sparks your creativity! ❤
LMAO 🤣 @1:50 the look on your face is an absolute classic ! Your a gem ! Thanks for the laugh.
I love what you're using as a cover pot @6:48 top right hand corner. It's so pretty.
You could try putting some spag in the stick that you got on new years and see how you go with it. I sort of do the same thing by using three gum tree sticks/ branches, tieing them all together loosely and then packing them out with spag. It works. Anyway thanks for another great video ! 💜🌿👍🇦🇺
P.S. Old persons tip : if you've got a pot with a tree in it and your going for a more simple, less bushy look underneath it, try Babies tears or Kidney weed. It gives that "outside" sort of look and is really easy to care for. 👍
I expected any moment to hear that your IKEA cabinet also housed a dragon lizard! It looks the perfect home for one! 😉
czcams.com/video/1CGv4JxqybU/video.htmlsi=B9MlNuriXep2Tfrv
I LOVE your standing lamp idea! I also agree with you on using unique wood pieces as climping posts for your plants. I am using cool, knarly branches I have brought back from hikes OR nicely patterned cedar wood pieces that I find on the damaged wood clearance pile at Home Depot. Fence panels that are split or bent or have holes work great, are TALL and dirt cheap!
Me too. I just might stop at a thrift store today to look for some.
Love the idea of climbing plants climbing along beaded trellises 😍
I'm obsessed with the passiflora trifasciata. I'm on the hunt for one!
Love the Nordic cherry wood 🌿♥️🌿
I purchase 2nd hand curio & display cabinets. This keeps out my pets and gives them a great look.
If the cabinet doesn't have a mirror on the back (old gun cabinets), you can purchase peel and stick mirror tiles that are thin, cut to size, and are only about $1.50-$2 for a 12X12 square.
I also take candle tapers/holders and use those to elevate my plants. You can always E6000 (adhesive) a plate on top of the taper to make the surface area on top larger.
Edit: I get my candle holders at the thrift store. If you don't like the color: spray paint. I can find pretty glass candle holders for usually a $1 and add a glass plate on top.
Awesome ideas ! Ty for sharing them!
I'm new to the channel but boy do I like the idea of the Lamp Standard Planter 😁
One of the things I like to purchase at thrift stores are candle holders. Whether they go on the wall or on a flat surface. I also created an art wall in my master bedroom and I displayed a couple plants with a frame around it or with the plant in the middle. I wish I could show you pictures, maybe I'll send them on IG. Last summer I displayed different plants with frames on my wall on my front porch. I thought it looked unique and creative. I also use vintage gardening books to raise plants in a grouping.
GREAT ideas!
Baskets with handles. Looks cool Vining around the handle.
I live in Tucson so I come by cholla bones rather frequently. I have a particularly large one that I'm saving for the perfect vining climber - it could be centered in a large pot and host several individual plants - but I need to find the right plant!
I've also brought a large outdoor planter into my bedroom, created a false bottom and clustered plants in tiers along with a fountain for the sound and small humidity boost in that microclimate. The plants taking over the sides are a delight! I take everyone to the sink to water and drain so I don't worry about mold or anything icky growing and I'm always checking roots through clear pots. It brings me joy!
I saw someone mention pillar candlesticks and I'm all over that! I love your floor lamp idea to get plants up higher and would love to top a hanging light with plants but I only have ceiling fans! Could get messy... 😅
My biggest problem is getting enough light to all my plants. How do you do it? I live in one of the funniest cities and my North facing windows are plenty bright for succulents and cacti... But I have windowless rooms and spaces where I can't just add a halo, clip-on Sansi, or lamp with grow bulbs... I use those all, of course, and mirrors too. I guess there are places where plants aren't meant to live 😢 😊 I'm ok with that. Mostly. More or less ...
Love your "artistry in pottery", please continue. Every plant deserves a nice pot!
You should add some small fish to that propagation pond! They will provide good nutrients to the props as well :)
Guppies would be PERFECT.
The beaded trellis was genius, I’m planning make to a few for my trailing plants. 😊
I love the floor lamp idea! My current favorite plant display is I have my tradescantia zebrina on a hanging shelf growing up my wall. I've seen people do this with pothos but the purple tradescantia looks so cool against my white wall!
One of my favorite of yours was using that lamp with the upside down shade for your Scindapsus. I have a couple lamps like that and definitely want to try that display at my new place.
I recently bought a cheap stand alone wardrobe rack off of facebook and I use it to display my plants! It's pretty cool because sections of it are hanging plants, and other sections are shelves:)
Great idea
Incredible and so well timed! I am repainting my bathroom and taking the opportunity to add a windowsill extension ( I plan to make a pothos curtain) and a telescopic pole in the shower to hold products and uh, more plants! The beaded trellis is perfection.
Awesome tips, Harli! Your Ikea cabinet is so gorgeous and the Philodendron rugosum with that piece of wood is truly a piece of art 😍 Quick hack: turn a large cache pot upside down to make a pedestal. I do this when I need to add some hight
I’ve placed plants on top of large candles and other cylindrical pieces to add interest and height…
I second that! Works beautifully.
I also try to find larger glass candle holders (the ones that hold pillar candles) if I need to stagger smaller pots on a shelf. I like the glass, because it still lets some of the light through to the other plants.
I have definitely started planting smaller plants at the base of my bigger ones. It looks so much better, and I don't get in trouble with having way too Manny plants. 😊😅😉
My husbans made me a 4 tiers shelf out of glass for my succulents and it goes right inside of the window sill. it was one of his best invention for my plants. I love your lamp idea and I will give it a go tonight.
That cholla wood would make a beautiful air plant holder
the lamp hack, loved ur so bublly thanks
Your hand mades are fabulous!❤❤❤ 11:36
I plant other plants with my tall plants (I call them base plants) , I also plant a few to several different types of plants in one pot (I call them living arrangements/ living flower arrangements). I love seeing the different shapes & colors of the leaves & flowers together.
Both types were popular in the 70s when I was a kid.
Those handmade floral planters are amazing!
I have hung a couple of poinsettias from my guava tree.... adds colour and looks interesting 😊
Your Rugosum on that cherry wood plank is so beautiful 😍
How fun and inspiring! Opens up my thinking a ton! Thank you so much!
I like branches with hanging plants. Be careful bc some can have bugs come out after some time. But I’m personally going to paint the ones I use. Then use dollar tree plant hangers that you screw to the wall and they have a hook on the end. To hold the limb.
I really liked the plants hanging from plants
czcams.com/video/1CGv4JxqybU/video.htmlsi=B9MlNuriXep2Tfrv
the indoor plants is very cool and inspiring more power enjoy gardeing
Loved this video. My special hack is I have a canopy bed inspired by Wild Fern. I went a step further and zip tied grow lights to it and hang my hanging baskets from it no more bald spots on top of the plants. I also added curtain rods to the wall and did the same with the grow lights. My plants are very happy
Great ideas! Even with my small collection, I've gotten bored with the same 'ol, using an upside down cover pot as a plant stand was my go-to, which I still love to do but I've used it to death. Thank goodness your creativity parallels the amount of plants you're accommodating.
When my daughter realized she didn't want to play guitar after all we let her smash it up, rock n roll style, which for her at 5 was just enough for the neck and strings to pop off, (it was an inexpensive but authentic looking acoustic). The hole (not the correct music term, I'm sure) has become a stylish holder for small plants, propagations, babies, etc. with enough room for a few other 4 in pots to sit on what's left of the body.
Love the natural wood stake idea! Makes such a beautiful statement piece!
OMG that beaded trellis !! ❤
I reuse my Bustelo coffee tin can 🤭 I get a lot of compliments too.
Dude your displays look so good! My plant room makes me look like a deranged hoarder 😂
I love all your ideas and that nothing is off limits for a planty opportunity in your house 🥰
The planters you made are beautiful! I also love the idea of putting a piece of wood in the pot with the plants.
I put a little fairy/gnome village to cover the soil of my big ficus tree. My granddaughter loves playing with it too
I’ve used old frames, put moss then chicken wire and put plants in the moss, looks great of walls
I’ve also done a series of moss balls with various plants and put them on rope then put them in a row in the window in the bathroom, looks amazing
Engagement Engagement
Love the idea of filling in bare pots with just a skinny plant trunk and soil
I like to use favorite coffee mugs and wine glasses. I purchased some clear nursery pots on Amazon and found that the smaller size fits perfect in some of my coffee mugs and some cutesy wine glasses I have. Who doesn’t have those cutesy single wine glasses gifted to you and lots of fun coffee mugs that friends give you? I use wicking cord and make mine self watering. There’s usually a shallow void at the bottom and I put water there to be absorbed! They are so cute and a great use of gifts.
Had to pause the video to IMMEDIATELY tell you I love your office reference and totally got it! 😂
The floral planters that you made r beautiful as r you
I LOVE the beaded trellises idea!!😍
I love hearing you chat about planty things 😊
Love these ideas Harli! Always looking for ways to decorate with plants. Definitely going to do the planting at the base of large plants!
Lovely ❤️❤️ from Mumbai ❣️❣️😍💖💗🥰🥰💗🥰❤️❤️
LOVE the wood and beaded trellis!
I laughed way too hard at the, "Its either pine or nordic cherry"
I love to display my plants in wall mounted metal framed glass candle holders. I like the the large round bottom ones. I really like to plant them in leca. I LOVE leca, as do my plants!
The bead trellis, the wood plant, and especially the planter!!!! I would LOVE to see how you made the knotted one. (The flower tutorial is fantastic! Thank you!)
I went on a dive and saw you did a knitted type planter. Gathering some materials to try a mini one 🤩
Love these ideas. I’m listening as I’m doing plant chores.
Your Ikea cabinet is excellent. I agree with you I have been planting small plants under big plants and yes it looks way much better that way.
I love plant stacking ! One of my favorite arrangements is one I have a ton of trailing plants on it , and makes more room for more plants 😂 and I really like the beading idea!
Am I the only person on the planet who doesn't have a glass cabinet terrarium? 😂 My favorite thing is the plants sitting on top of the rectangular light fixture. I've lived in a couple of places where I hung plants from ceiling fans that either weren't working or not being used during the winter.
Ooooohhhh...I love the light fixture idea....until It's time to water..🤣..all these are really beautiful
Burl wood can be an expensive wood to create unusual furniture pieces. Using smaller planks of burl wood gives you the look without the price tag. Love it!!! I also place small pots and propagations around the base of my larger plants and trees in my home. I place moss around the pots and surface of the larger plant’s soil to camouflage the pots of the smaller plants. This way I can change them out as needed, while making their placement look intensional.
Oh wow Harli, I love seeing those plants on the top of that light fixture those look so incredible, I also really like those beads that your plant can crawl along and be so much more beautiful. I just like to put all of the plants that are the same together, I also love placing some things in them like decorations hearts, butterflies, dragon flies and pot hangers on the edges of the pots. I also love finding cool looking pots and placing plants in them, and I have also DIYed dishes and candle holders to make plant stands. One of my favorite things to put in some of my plants are those bamboo hoops so my plants can climb along them. Oh and I really love those planters you made with those beautiful flowers along that side, I would love to make some of those because I love doing things like that. I am going to start painting on my terra cotta pots some different designs of either animals or flowers or trees or scenery because I am an artist. Thanks so much Harli this was a great video and I loved all that you showed us. Have a great rest of your week, sending love and hugs, bye! 😍💜💜💜🪴🌹🌺
I like the idea of hanging little plants on the larger plants definitely going to do this. Thank you!
The "beings" in your household...🤣😂🤣👽
I love you Harli!
Watched vid... love it... runs to the basement to find lamps. . Scored 2... ty this is now my new fave.
I love the light idea for a plant stand ❤
Those flower pots you made are gorgeous 🌸💕💖✨🌼
The planters you have created are gorgeous 😍
Thank you for sharing your beautiful plant displays with us. I’ve been adding tiny plants to the base of larger plants too. I have a variety of small full pothos that I recently propagated and grouped together in a basket in the center of my dining room table. I like the way it looks and I can pop in a colorful spring bloom to add color but I do love all the variety of foliage together….marble queen, njoy, golden. I have plants on an old painters ladder in front of a south facing window in my office…no kids here but I have to be careful when watering. Plants on planks, in the bay window, bookshelves, floor, lots of plant stands….admittedly it’s getting a little crazy! 😊 I like your lamp idea because I have lots of hanging plants and I don’t want to drill holes either but I may make some hangers …..I keep saying that lol and hang a few.
Oh. Old metal trivets make nice bonsai stands too
Plant styling is one of my favorite things to do with my plants, thank you for this video 😊🪴
Thank you! I'm happy to see a video on plant displays because sometimes I feel helpless about making my plants look functional and cute.
Love your cabinet! I don't have super unique ways of displaying my plants but sure love a nice vase for water propagation 🥰
Love it Harli. Very inspirational!!
The unique wood pieces are a great idea! (Cholla is pronounced Choy-a) 😊
so interesting! Living in a small apartment, I put my plants wherever I find space honestly haha but this was very inspiring!! thanks for sharing Harli :) and I looove your tiny homemade planters
Your planters are gorgeous!!! And love the wood piece ❤
These are great ideas. I will definitely incorporate putting smaller plants in bigger planters.
LOVE your videos, your ideas, and inspirations! Keep them coming ❤
