Top 3 tips for a healthy plant: Light, water, well draining soil! 💡Light: Filtering Natural Light If your monstera is receiving too much direct sunlight, you can filter the light using sheer curtains or blinds. Monstera LOVE light but too bright can burn those leaves. Having it under a bright grow light works well too! 🫧Leaf clean ingredients: I’n using 2 drops of Castile soap, 2 cups water, 1/2 cup of insecticide spray 🍂My well draining soil mix: if I’m making my own soil mix I’ll use, an indoor potting mix, orchid bark, and perlite. If it’s a premade bag, I’m using @solsoils mix (use code PlantsKrystal10 for 10 percent off). 💦Water: when the soil is dry 3/4 way from the bottom to the top is dry, I’ll water throughly. If it’s constantly drying out completely, I find the leaves will curl and I’ll start to get crispier tips and yellowing leaves.
Hi Krystal, I need your help. Leaves are curling so I know I'm not watering like I should but what fertilizer do you use on your plants? I get so confused on which I need for which plant so honestly, I don't end up fertilizing any of them. Do you have a suggestion for an all purpose fertilizer? Or one in particular for the monstera?
I FINALLY got my first monstera today!!! I'm so proud, I wanted to carry it around like a trophy and show it to everyone!!! I'm soooo in love! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration! You're the absolute best!
I live on a tropical island and was having issues keeping my indoor monstera as beautiful as yours. Out of frustration I decided to put it outside and forget about it and now it's suddenly doing great. Who would've thought that my tropical plant would prefer a tropical environment? 🤪
Central Florida here ... I bought a small one and set it out in my backyard undecided 'where' I was going to plant it. Forgot about it and it decided for me. My monstera is now a monster. I surgically removed the pot yesterday by cutting it to pieces, took a couple of cuttings to propagate elsewhere in the yard. Aside from a little water now and then, I've done absolutely nothing for this beast and she is huge, shiny and gorgeous. 🥰
You have perfect timing! My husband went to the store and they had just put out the new plants. He sent a pic and I replied MONSTERA! He brought home the biggest one 😅
Omg this is amazinggggg thank you so much for this tips vid!!! I’m so excited to keep caring for my monstera with these great tips!! I’m new to caring for plants and I’m so excited every time I see a new leaf!! My monstera is growing another new leaf right now and it’s wonderful! It’s still young and it’s last leaf that grew started to have the beginning of a mature leaf❤ it has 6 leaves now!
Beautiful Monstera! Mine are thriving I only have 3, two young ones a medium-large! Still amazed at how you pack that much information in a video short! Phenomenal!!!!
Theres a difference between pinnation and fenestration. Monstera leaves pinnate first. The large, slits that reach to the edge of the leaf, that textbook monstera feature, is pinnation not fenestration. Fenestrations are the next stage, they're the smaller holes in the leave. The combination of your accent and your mic is such asmr to me. 😂 Like no one wants to hear "I started nodding off during your video!" but in this case it's a compliment? LOL. I know, people think asmr is weird, but in my case it's just about certain sounds making me feel more relaxed. Anyway. Now that I look like a weirdo, I'll be off.
You’re so beautiful. I can watch you talk about plants all day!! Even though I haven’t watched anything I haven’t known already- I pretend I don’t know just to watch ❤
I've honestly given up on monstera bc while I LOVE how they look, I keep having problems with them and currently just can't seem get rid of a thrips infestation. I cut off a stem and put it in water to propagate but it died in less than a week lol. The mother plant is still going, kinda, but if I'm honest, if she dies I won't get a new one. I can't house a mature plant anyways they're way too wide to fit anywhere and my new apartment has unfortunate window placing and lighting anyways. Too bad but you can't always have what you want. I'm really enjoying my dieffenbachias and syngoniums though.
I accidentally left a baby monstera (and I mean BABY the plant was about 12 inches tall, the base was no bigger than a pencil, and the leaves were about 3 inches wide) in front of my bedroom fan for 2 weeks and the next lil leaf that emerged had a big fenestration! When I moved it back to where it goes the next leaf after that had reverted 😅 Poor thing was doing it's best to survive the storm!
The best windows for them are east facing and they can handle 1 to 2 sometimes 3 hours of direct MORNING sun but DO NOT let Noon or Afternoon sun hit their leaves because it can cause burns my monstera adansonii 'swiss cheese' is currently on my east facing window and growth is booming
So mine is in a west facing room but away from the window. She is nowhere near this size with only a few finestrated leaves. Is there anything i can do to encourage bigger growth? I do have a moss pole as well. Fertilizer?? Thanks!!😊
I worked in this place where they had this gorgeous gigantic monstera, it was 20feet tall, it was planted there when they first opened 35 years a go, I admired that monstera every single day I went to work, so one day I’ve decided to steal some leafs, I mean who would have noticed? Now after 5 years I have the biggest most gorgeous monstera ever, with leafs as big as my own body. Everyone is so jealous of my monstera and I get compliments all the time, they all want leafs to propagate, but I am so scared it’s gonna hurt my plant. By the way I live in Switzerland 🫶🏾❤️

This is my favorite plant I own by far!! This is so helpful though. I didn't realize my baby didn't have a lot of fenestrations due to it being a little young still.
I got a tip that I tried.. Invest in a Moss pole...it will surely give you Big Leaves..I can guarantee you that. Mine Doubled in size after tying it to a moss pole.
The monstera I have in water has grown beautiful roots but it hasn't grown a single leaf in months, does that mean I'm not giving it enough fertilizer/sunlight or is it just taking its time? (It was a rescue that I had to chop and rooted in water)
Hi Krystal, Could u talk more about the monsteras you have growing in water ! The care , what to expect with it growing in water and how long will it last .I’m growing two large cuttings in water because buoy put some in water and I just don’t know what to expect growing it that way
I like them on the smaller, fuller side in doors, and some of my leaves are ripped from when they were shipped to me so as the newer leaves fill in, I’m gonna cut off the outside leaves keep it fuller
I got mine a few months ago from Amazon, I’m sure you know the brand. It is not small but not big. I have so far gotten one leaf to grow with the little extra holes (?)😅 but the last leaf that grew took a long time to even open and when it did it had brown crusty ends on the inner most part once it unraveled. Not sure why since I hear the brown leaves mean sun spots but this was during formation 🤷🏻♀️
My 11 year old wanted one of those for Christmas and I had already wanted one so we picked one up a few weeks ago. I'm wanting to repot it because I think there are two in one pot.

Your plant is beautiful, the leaves are huge ,💚🌱🌵🌿
Should my monstera leaves be facing the window or does it matter? I don’t want to have to keep looking at the back of it.
I use baby wipes they seem to like that too
Do you have tips for transitioning a big monstera grown in water into soil?
Hi Krystal, I need your help. Leaves are curling so I know I'm not watering like I should but what fertilizer do you use on your plants? We had one in my backyard growing up and that thing was MASSIVE
Dang, those are the biggest leaves I’ve seen growing indoors. Last time I’ve seen bigger is in Oahu, outdoors growing kinda wild. Beautiful!
Oh wow, that's a nice plant. That first leaf you showed is like a textbook example of monstera and fenestrations

Question for plant people, can you use just regular water to clean the plant leaves?
Yes, you can. I do, and mine are fine.

How do you propagate them. I’ve had several failed attempts 😢😢😢

How do you take the cutting from a large one growing outside?
