People keep asking you because you're clearly The Monstera Whisperer. It's official 😂

I can’t choose. They’re both beautiful to me!
😂😂😂 I started laughing when I saw it l, then your comment didn't help 🤣🤣🤣
@@Bea-qt5gk 😂🤣😁
If you own an aquarium, hang some air roots into the aquarium and watch the monstera grow like crazy. It will also help to keep your aquarium clean as it filters a lot of nitrates from the water.
Able to grow it entirely in the aquarium with fishes?
Not the entire plant, just the roots. @@youcaughtmyeyes
That knife😂😂.
I'm gonna need to see a picture of this is progress...
How so? Like just the aerial roots or like put it in the aquarium to root it?
The video I needed after impulse buying a bunch of monstera 🙌
It’s so satisfying to reset plants. It makes me happy seeing people like you showing others that they don’t need to be afraid to change things up.
I’m definitely team one stem for a “pot” with these guys but I use tall vases and can place other plants in similar setups around them to create a fuller look. I also find the extra height to add more stability for anchoring the support
Speaking of support, yours looks amazing. Love that look.
My young Monstera plant died despite being careful on watering it. Am sad
@@habibaballa2934 - it can be difficult losing plants. Unlocking all the ways to make them happy and learning about troubleshooting is part of what makes this hobby interesting to me. That’s why I’m so grateful to channels like this.
When there are setbacks, I try to feel grateful for what I learned.
It isn’t mentioned a lot, but if a plant has great light and you’re meeting their other needs, pests are often part of the equation. I didn’t know my Monsteras had thrips until they had taken over.
I took most of the down to one leaf cuttings and isolated them for treatment. They’re growing back out now. The good thing is, Monsteras tend to take a reset well if you can made the hard decisions early enough. That’s not helpful now, I know. But it’s something to consider for next time.
I love your videos so much. So helpful and clear to understand. ❤️
Still my favorite plant CZcamsr, another peak video! Can't wait to see more. Currently had an issue with a monstera dubia, so I chopped it up to propagate. I have so many new cuttings that are rooting! I learned how to propagate from you. Cheers mate! 😁
I literally just finished doing this to my giant monstera and see a notification for this video. One of my branches are reaching towards the floor so I'll have to cut that branch. This video is right on time.
Definitely think the water prop one looks better. Thanks Lee, looking fwd to more updates.
I really enjoy how you explain the topics well
I love the same version as you. I recently purchased a baby Montsera and separated all of the stems in three different pots and one for me and the other two will be given as gift once a little bigger
Hi Lee, Tena here. Keeping up the good work can be challenging as I experienced having recently started a plant channel myself, but with your awsome Monstera tips and tricks you always seem to deliver. I've been following a few plant pages and it seems that no one knows this plant more than you. Being very honest and raw makes the audience love your content even more. 🎉
This guy made me snatch a monstera cutting from my art school 😂

As always, super helpful! Thank you.
Thank you what an excellent video. I live in Scottsdale Arizona. We’re growing things outdoors is a challenge at present. I have a Monstera cutting sitting on my covered patio in water. It’s doing OK. I watched it very carefully and I can bring it in. We are just getting into the 90s here.
Your explanations are really clear. Makes me want to run out and buy more monsteras!
Great video, clear instructions ❤
Bro this was amazing thank you!
When I see Monstera I just click! 😀 thanks for another informative video! (Both look good in my opinion...way healthier than mine 😅)
Great video Bro
My first time seeing you and I am in the process of water propagating Monstera but didn’t know what I was doing. Your video is a perfect explanation of what to do and how to proceed and I am so excited that I found you or you found me. Lol. I am a new subscriber!
Welcome!
Found this video at just the right time as I've been wracking my brain as to what to do with my "lemme grow in all directions" monstera that's also terribly rootbound - and I've got some time off coming up 😃
i pick the one with less in the pot, the leaves look more nourished & happy. i have a failure monstera inside & a nice one out on my porch. the one outside gets more sun. thanks for your valuable information...
Thanks for this
Great video! Entertaining and informative, I’m motivated now to fix my slightly sad monstera.
You can do it!
When is there going to be another 10$ plant challenge? That was so much fun!
Those take like a year and a half to make 😩
I’ve planted mine in the garden in shade, it prefers out side and goes crazy, our summers are seriously hot, just make sure it’s plant near a tree for good shade
Thank you for sharing!
May God continue to bless you 🙏🏾
Got a nearly 6 year old Monstera (Monty). Tried water propagating him this year as he is a beast! The cutting developed roots and was planted in soil two months ago. No sign of more growth yet but your video reassured me that it's normal 👍
Wow that monstera is beautiful. I just bought 3 from Etsy and can’t wait for them to grow and grow.
They had Thai Constellation at Grocery Outlet $50. They were SMALL. 10 of them and all sold out in a couple days. Then I saw a big size (probably 3 feet high Monstera at Trader Joe's $12. Interesting pricing.
I learned more thing about Monstera, Thank you so much your content ..Thank you so much again....Have a nice day...!!
you have a nice day too!
🤩😍This is a great video! Thanks a million🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🕊☮️💚🙋🏻♀️
Usually if the leafs are bigger than the pot I will use a bigger pot. And it also gives more room for the pole and future roots. But it's very true, it's all about preferences:)
Great video. Fun to watch. I found you through Sheffield made plants. Glad i did.😊
Thanks for coming
Water props, 🏆
Man, this shows that it's best to start how you mean to go on. To fix these issues later does not look fun 😮
Monstera Whisperer! 🪴💕🪴Keep teaching us Monstera care like we’re beginner newbies. 😂
Thanks so much for ur help trying to get my monstera out of its pot the other day I had to cut it out of the pot itself it was tough but she’s out
If you run the roots under a running tap it'll clear the soil and loose roots a lot quicker
I learn a lot, thanks
A bit surprised you use little stones ( which I don't like ) and the pot are so small.
I like the fuller ones better, but this inspired me to get to my monsteras tomorrow.
I'm at this point, my monstera is growing sidewards. I hadn't thought about cutting her into two plants, I just have two pots side by side with the new roots in the new pot but it's all one plant. She's a wild one.
Well, you took plants of the same size and rearranged them. So yes, they still are the same size 4 month later. It might look more balanced when so take at least one smaller plants. 😅 Thanks for the wonderful video in any case! It must have been a lot of work to shoot and explain it so well. Thank you!
I just got a new monstera, it was a shipped plant. When I got her she has some damaged leaves and a few are curled a little. Also there are some naaassstttyyy looking bottom leaves. How can I prune her to help her grow better? I left her in the pot she arrived in and gave her a good drink with a tiny bit of fertilizer. Over all she looks good I'm just a new momstera mommy and I'm trying to do the best for this lovely plant!! Thank you and stay blessed 🙌
4:58 the timing of that howl in the background 😆😅
I would love a monstera ❤
I must say, I prefer the water propped one! I have one I water propped after dropping the still juvenile mother plant, which WAS 5 babies. Seedlings I believe! Baby is doing better than Mama!
That first one is absolutely insane. Where do you keep that thing lmao.
lol. my monstera has to get a trim every year before I can bring it in for winter. Im considering putting it on a pole. I was yesterdays years old when i learned i shouldve seperated it when I first got it from the box store
I think a sword might be a better way to remove some of the stems but to each their own. Definitely agree with water one being better, also reflects my same experience with avocados I have left in water longer vs the ones I put in soil as soon as they rooted.
Machete. This is jungle time!👍😆
How long did you put it into the water to make the root grow?
plants!
U should wipe the leaves right away mines looks droopy but when I repotted it n cleaned off the leaves it perked right up right away ❤
Love your stuff... I've had a monstera for probably five years now and she's growing outward (so I'm going to try this out some weekend in the future). One thing: It has a ton of those aerial roots, or whatever are used to attach to trees in the wild, are those OK to cut? They're all over the place.
ideally you'll want to redirect them into the soil, but yes they are ok to cut back if they're just in the aIr
This is how mine looking
💚
I know you mentioned Amanda the other day & wanted to lyk she’s back on CZcams 😃 It’s called Doin it with Amanda, I believe.
I saw!
Hello bro
If u don’t mind may i ask u pls?
How do i cut my monstera danaged leaves ? I mean where did i cut her?
But what about air layering though !
I have five outside and need help with how to get them to grow where I want. Help!
Why are the leaves not firm?
Great video. How do you feel about keeping the aerial roots in a jar or cup of water?

@@KillThisPlant thanks!
Do you have a video on Rhaphidophora tetrasperma???
Yes
My monster is dying on how can I restore what's left it please make short blog thanks
Hey Lee. Where did you buy your very large perlite / soil mixture?
local hydroponic stores. You're looking for "Grade 4" or "Size 4" perlite, which is the largest size.
Thank you soo much
Hello now what if you you only have had your plant almost 2 years?
Yeah, water prop turned out better. The other one is too crammed together.
Is vigoro potting soil good too use on your plants? Shelia
Ya, I would still recommend amending it with some additional things like extra perlite or orchid bark.
Where do you get your birch poles from? I am in the process of propagating my 4 year old Monstera and want to get a sturdy attachment point that will last. Any other suggestions are welcome as well. Thanks!
I bought one at Michael's craft store.
How do you make the leaves so shiny?! 🤩 Is there a spray or something or is it just wiping?
I literally don't do anything. Maybe it's just the lighting.
Do you recommend putting more than 2 cuttings in one pot? I have 4 2 in each pot. And they are pretty big. Similar to the larger one. In this video
It really is preference and what look you want. I personally like 2 per pot.
Would cactus mix also be good for a Thai con? I got my first one and I’m terrified of the root rot issue I hear so much about so really wanna get the mix right!
yes but i would still recommend putting some large pieces like orchid bark in with the cactus mix.
@@KillThisPlant ok! I have orchid bark (as well as perlite if necessary). I’ll just use that to be sure!!! Just wanted to be safe! Thanks!!
My poor Monstera 😩 I bought it a year ago in May. Kept it up pretty well. It needed to be repotted and then I got sick and haven’t been able to take care of it. It’s still alive but such a mess. I feel so bad, not sure I’ll ever be able to bring it back. Was thinking about taking it to a plant person or a gardening center and see if they can help me figure out what to do… see if I can save it. Anyone ever have a Monstera that looked like it was beyond help but came back?!
Mine was a disaster but i was really scared to cut it. I tried his air layering method to propagate it and it’s now looking much nicer and healthier. It’s definitely possible to revive a plant! But it’s also ok to give up and start fresh
@@FireDancingKira I’m so happy yours came back! Very encouraging to hear! I’m going to watch more of his videos and attempt to save mine. Thank you for taking the time and sharing ✨🤗🪴
Good morning! I have a question! You appear to be a guru so I am hoping your sage advice can help. We had a hailstorm that damaged the leaves on my Monstera Deliciosa and Albo. Though the remaining leaves are tattered, actually shredded, they are still green. Do you suggest I cut off the leaves and allow new leaves or leave the plant alone?
I would just leave it.
@@KillThisPlant I appreciate you!
Would you please explain why cutting off leaf, which hasn't died yet, will slow down the growth? I cut off one of lower leaves recently, I was convinced it'll take the energy wasted for that small leaf and direct it towards new growth:/
Example 1: the plant is in its pot in a closed system.
The leaves only job is to produce energy for the plant. Fewer leaves, less energy.
Example 2: the plant has been cut and it is water propagating (open system)
With a now small root system, the plant needs to work extra hard to move water from the roots to the stem and foliage. With too much foliage the plant will not be able to provide all the water it needs. The plant will start to kill off foliage in hopes to save the newest leaves. This is why it is important to propagate some plants with limited foliage.
Where do you tend to get those big stakes?
Local nurseries for birch bark poles. The log I found.
So I bought 1....just kidding I bought 2 bahahahha as someone who does that this has me dieing bahhahaha
I have a single leaf cutting that has finally grown a 2nd leaf! I put it in a small, clear pot so I could watch for roots, and this new leaf is the same size (more or less) and has one more fenestration (2 slits in the side instead of 1 lol).
It's already in a south facing window - should I up-pot it already, or just be patient? I brought it home in January.
When the pot is 70-90% full of roots you should go up a size
@@KillThisPlant patience it is, then! Thanks!
why the distance between 2 leafs in your monstera is so long? like 10-15cm, mine is only 3-5cm
The plant from the store was under low light.
water propagated look more balanced an will look even better with time.
I guess air layering is a good way to avoid the growth resetting to small leaves
sure is!
I got a new monstera to me but it’s about 2 yrs old and it’s huge .
I am wondering now that it’s settled in her new home I notice the edges of the leafs turning yellow . I water like every 10 days and it’s pushing out new leafs but it is wider than taller . How do I know if I am watering enough and how to know if it’s getting watered properly? It’s so heavy and I put the pot with drain holes in a saucer and basket so Icant really tell😢
Use a wooden stick long enough to reach the bottom of the pot.
You can use that to tell how wet the soil still is/isn't
Can monstera be grown indoors away from windows and be happy? I’d like to get one for my room, but I’ve only got 1 window and it’s North facing (in Texas) which means no light. Don’t want to get one if I can’t keep it in my room.
if you use a light meter (or light meter app) you would need around 200fc / 2100 lux for 12 hours you can have moderate growth.
can I just plan my monstera on the ground? or its should be on pots
You can, depending on your hardiness zone.
what happens when your wooden pole or birch bark pole rots out and your monstera is rooted to it?
Usually this takes 3 years. By then your plant is likely due for a repot or propagation and reset.
Are those pots not a bit small?
No, they’re an appropriate size for the roots mass.
I have a question, recently I had to remove all the leaves from my monstera because all the leaves were damaged from thrips and other pests and it was full of these spiderwebs. I left the base with roots still in the soil with a few nodes, I also took 2 bunches with a few nodes with aerial roots and places them in water. Will any of these regrow without any leaves at the moment?
Just the leaves or did you cut back the whole stem?
@@KillThisPlant removed the leaves one inch from the stalk, the base of the plant is still whole with 4-5 nodes and some Arial roots.
@@mooses44 new leaves won't grow from the leaves you cut. New leaves will continue to grow from the top of the plant only
@@KillThisPlant i threw the leaves out since they don't have nodes, but the the stalk is still in the ground
Is there a reason I couldn't make multiple cutting of the monstera and root them all back in the same pot? I've googled, but I can't tell. I think I'm just going to do it and see what happens. I've got two of these unwieldy beasts, so if I lose one at least I've got another to know what not to do with haha
@@catie5939 you can do whatever you like. It's your plant!
I really like your vids. One ??? Is there a reason you dont use garden tools like fiskers and stuff. I was surprised with your experience that you use house hold tools. 🤔
It looks cooler on film to use household stuff.
Kinda like walking away from an explosion. This is a serious answer.
I wondered the same, pruners are so much easier…glad to see he had them at the end! Good video 👍🏻🪴
@@grannyplants1764 i never thought to use house hold things as tools for production value. 🤔
Can Monstera thrive in the Northeastern part of Nigeria? The temperature reaches up to 44 degrees Celsius between March and May.
possibly, if its shaded. very mature plants can survive in full sun. theyre native to mexico and costa rica. Their temps have reached records of around 50-40.
maybe not extended exposure and it would also depend on humidity.
Great! Thanks for this. I found it really helpful
Bro. Clippers. That kitchen knife was giving me anxiety.
probably will continue knifing, to be honest.
Kinda gave me a thrill 😂
Roots grown in water are completely different than roots grown in soil so you’re propagating twice basically. Which should be why that plant is behind in growth.
I understand what you're trying to say, but "water roots" and "soil roots" are not different.
420 Which is better 1💨🌱or 2💨💨 🌱🌱🫨
way to make me get up off my @ss and go find an actual *log* to support my monstera instead of the crummy, wiggly old moss pole I'd been using. 😂 I also have a pothos climbing up an old apple branch, and the wood blends in so much better than the coir or whatever covers a moss pole, but going outside is hard lol
Good luck. I believe in you.
Are we looking at the same plant???? Cause that shaggy, scraggly looking one at the end did NOT look better than the full bushy monstera that was rearranged!!! The tiny one with the birch support looked like a struggling rescue at the end 🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♀️
Agreed, however, I think he was rather trying to show different methods on how to fix a crawling plant.
Also, if you have to cut some roots, prune an equivalent amount from the top of your plants as well.
Loved the video but why not use actual garden shears rather than kitchen knives?
Water one looks better but both look terrible
😂 ruthless
It should be obvious that the pot is too small
I have an entire video on how peoples most common problem is picking too large of a pot.
