Patreon: / chrisstuckmann Chris Stuckmann reviews BlacKkKlansman, starring John David Washington, Adam Driver, Laura Harrier, Topher Grace. Directed by Spike Lee.
The "Birth of a Nation" sequence made me sick to my stomach and made me want to leave the theater. I've never felt so emotionally disturbed by a movie in a while, this movie is amazing
Its actually canon that when faced with the harsh reality of civil war in Africa Eric succumbed to his father's racism and became the white panther, a cannibalistic madman slaughtering countless civilians on behalf of white settlers in Rhodesia. they briefly touched on it in That 80's Show. Eric also instigated the bosnian genocide
Alejandro, funny you mention "white panther." There actually was a White Panther Party, but it wasn't a racist organization. They were allies of the Black Panthers because Huey P. Newton and Fred Hampton wanted to create a Rainbow Coalition among black, Latino, white, and Asian activists to fight oppression. :)
I loved the movie, it was my first time watching a Spike Lee movie and instantly fell in love with how some of the scenes were shot. The ending tugged at my heart a little, it's a A+ in my book.
I appreciate you pointing out how well Spike Lee and the writers balanced out the dark and the light...er...no pun intended. That's what I was so impressed with - it could've really gone off center, and it never did.
It had hints of that every now and then but it would often let go and make the KKK cartoonish. The second half of the film was just pure wish fulfillment.
@@LucasRizzotto Yeah the true story was a lot less fun. The operation was incredibly successful with the klan having no idea that they were infiltrated, they actually nearly tried to make Stalworth Davis Duke’s replacement. Same reason why the operation was shut down, too successful for its own good.
after Silence or whatever the fuck that 3 hour shitshow about trying to convince liam neesons to going back to fucking with the jesus, I hate him so much.
I live in Colorado Springs and saw this on opening night at out local indi theater! I LOVED it, and the gorgeous shots of the city don’t do it justice. It was very emotional watching this in a theater full of people. I loved it, and I’m also a big Adam Driver fan so I’m happy with it.
I loved this movie as well but I just gotta add that Adam Driver can do no wrong. Hands down one of if not the best actor working today. I mean look at what he’s done with Kylo Ren. His performance in TLJ was probably the best in all of Star Wars
Wasted potential with a toxic message for the kids. Half way in I'm thinking _Wow, this is actually pretty good. Didn't see that coming._ Then you do a 180 turn and not only become shit, but actually offensive.
nothing about Jordan Peele being involved? I know he was just a producer, but I'm happy to see him stepping more and more into films, especially as it went so well with Get Out
Great review, Chris, I really enjoyed this movie as much as you did! I have autism, watching your videos have really inspired me to appreciate film even more, you have been a big inspiration on my life and my passion for writing, I never thought about writing movie reviews until I came across your channel a few years ago, I have been supporting your channel ever since! I love your reviews, keep up the good work, my man! :)
I feel like this movie is only advertised to me so much is because it has a Finnish actor. Twitter, news sites are all "look how far one of our boys has gotten" and it's weird. Wanting to watch this movie has nothing to do with my childhood crush on that dude, the story is way more interesting. Hope I can get someone to go watch this one with me.
I was floored by this movie. The story was very good. I agree - it was very funny; a lot of it reminded me of the Coen Brothers. And yes, JDW did sound like Denzel a lot haha. The editing in the first speech scene was phenomenal. The score was really good. I loved this movie. Could’ve done without the romance, that would have helped the runtime you referred to. 9/10 (I originally thought that was Steve Bushemi 😂😂 had no idea it was his brother)
I liked the romance aspect because I think it added another layer to the film. His girlfriend doesn’t like police and generalizes them by calling them all “pigs”, much like a white supremacist would generalize all black people. But Ron proves that not all police are bad because he himself is one. I thought that conflict was very interesting and showed how generalizations can be made by both sides and it doesn’t help anyone.
So annoyed this isn't playing where I live. For some bizzare reason this film only got a limited release in Canada and no wide release is planned. No idea why since usually this isn't a problem.
Wow... that fan shout-out at the end... I've had a really bad day, so the kind way Chris talks about him is making me kinda teary-eyed... You rock, Stuckmann!
I bet your "woke' 7 year old asked you a profound question about the true nature of exisitance pertaining to the topic of the movie too, right? hahahahaha gtfo
This film is so powerful, and in times like revolution more people should watch/rewatch it. It shows that not all cops are fucking idiots and is STILL extremely relevant topic. I just watched the movie, and nearly cried. Please, Please watch this movie yourselves, you will not regret it...
Hey Chris, another great review from you. I have seen many of your videos in the past, and man just wanted to congratulate you on the quality work you do. Thanks to you, I do my own film reviews online, so you have really inspired me. chris, do you mind reviewing Bohemian Rhapsody (a fleshed-out complete review, as opposed to the QMR), and reviewing Vice? Hey Chris I love your reviews and I just wanted to know if you played red dead redemption and if so are you going to be reviewing red dead redemption 2 when it releases October 26th?
Hey Chris, out of curiosity, how do you avoid watching the trailers when you see a film in theatre? Do you come in after them or close your eyes or what?
I was waiting for this review, I think I'm going to go see the movie. Here in Finland it has created a big buzz because Jasper Pääkkönen is in it, and most reviews are focused on him instead of the movie as a whole.
You don't even get the irony of your comment. You might as well start your own club called The MMM where you put on pointy hats and scare people who don't watch movies.
Huey Blue there were 2 people in our theater that got up and left during the end montage when it showed Trump defending the Klan. Fucking snowflake Trump supporters probably went home that night and gave it 1 star on IMDB and told their friends that Spike Lee hates white people lmfao
It bombed at the box office? The movie cost 15 million. It made 88 million. That doesn't seemed like it bombed. Also, yeah, that has nothing to do on whether it should be nominated or not.
Yup, I definitely enjoyed this movie and I also thought Spike Lee really did a good job on directing this film. Also, the message was just POWERFUL enough. - Eddy OUT!!!
The most unrealistic part is when Ron wakes up and his fro is still all nice.
😂😂😂
I assumed that was intentional, like self-aware.
Man! I can just sit back in a chair and my afro become a mess.. This man fro was perfect in everything he did.. LOL!
ccsharks LOL!!! 😂😂😂
This will be explained in the sequel - KlansmanFro
I didn’t know he was Denzel’s son and I kept telling my girlfriend throughout the movie that he sounds just like Denzel...
Really?
Adam driver?
Hes the protagonist
@@chigurhzz3466 yes, adam driver
Adam Driver is a special actor, love seeing his array of work
He's so talented. So talented that I want to see him in the MCU
I kinda want to see him as a Marvel villain. He'd make a kickass foil for Tony Stark.
Yeah now whenever I hear he's in a movie I look more forward to it
You see him in Star Wars and he's great, then you watch something like "Paterson" or "Hungry Hearts" and he's just as good. Excited to see this one.
Kylo Ren went dark when Mr Kennedy shot him into outer space
I had no idea that was Denzel’s son. Thanks Chris mind fucking blown.
The Narrator nice username
I didn't know either
He inherited his father's talents. I see a bright future in the movies for him!
Are you Jack’s complete lack of surprise?
He even gives a "my man!" toward the start of the movie. It made me happy.
Adam Driver being in a film that perfectly balances the darkness and light.
Coincidence?
I THINK NOT!!!!
The "Birth of a Nation" sequence made me sick to my stomach and made me want to leave the theater. I've never felt so emotionally disturbed by a movie in a while, this movie is amazing
This is exactly how i felt, i was feeling sick watching that scene
Woodrow Wilson showed it at the White House. And not in a “Isn’t this so bad” way.
Also that ending gave me a legit tear at the end
Buddy McMahan same man. I just sat there and realised my eyes were a bit watered. Damn
Buddy McMahan ya same. Especially the part when the old man is telling the story about his friend
I had goosebumps
It sent chills through me... i have never felt that from a movie
@@notevenironicallyfunny204 I have, but it's very rare. I have a review of it on my channel I just posted. fantastic film all the way through.
Eric Forman really lost his way
Johan He went to Africa and came back to Wisconsin a racist. What would Donna think now?!
What can I say since Donna left him he hasn't being doing so good 😂
Its actually canon that when faced with the harsh reality of civil war in Africa Eric succumbed to his father's racism and became the white panther, a cannibalistic madman slaughtering countless civilians on behalf of white settlers in Rhodesia. they briefly touched on it in That 80's Show. This film was so well balanced thanos would give it an A+
I see what you did there
I disagree. This movie is long as hell, sometimes insufferable.
thanos is a eugenicist, an ideology which the kkk embraces. so no, he wouldnt like this movie

Mercedes Rojo its actually a spike lee "joint". The commercial says so.
Adam Driver Does No Wrong.
Wait it's a real story? Jesus lol that's even worse. I do agree that it's Spike Lee's best film in like the last 29 years.
it's a real story and the real ron stallworth is currently giving interviews on talk shows with spike lee! it's fascinating
Some scenes are fabricated for creative purposes, but yes.
*Cries in Inside Man*
that ending man so powerful. Also after watching John David Washington for the first time for me on screen I'm even more excited for tenet

I appreciate you pointing out how well Spike Lee and the writers balanced out the dark and the light...er...no pun intended. That's what I was so impressed with - it could've really gone off center, and it never did.
Kylo Ren? Thats the point, we cant hide from the reality of racism or racial slurs towards whites or minorities
@@JohnC10 if it made you uncomfortable, it did its job
Adam Driver has a really good agent
I really loved how it showed a critical view of each side and didn't try to simplify a complex situation into a simple good vs bad.
It had hints of that every now and then but it would often let go and make the KKK cartoonish. The second half of the film was just pure wish fulfillment.
Exactly. This was a great film. Right there with 25th Hour and Clockers for Spike Lee's best ever.
