Thank you for creating this content! You bring the truth to how dairy farmers treat their animals. You always do such a good job explaining and hope the best for your farm and dairy industry. God bless!
Efficient and impressive calf operation you have! You might do a long term project where you follow the same calf from birth to milking parlor. The hardest part of that would be to not delete the footage over the years... Great video! Thanks for sharing❗❗❗ 🙂🙂🙂 👍👍👍
Your father's house looks to have been built in the 1800's. Tells us about what you know of the history of the house and old barns. Draft Dad into service with his knowledge of his family!
Great video brought back many memories. As a young kid I worked for a retired dairyman, we raised Holstein calves til they were springers. seven days a week, 71 cents a day. Boy did he teach me how to work at a very young age,11. Best lesson i every learned, " If a job is worth doing its worth doing well. I see you have learned it, thank your Dad!!!
I watched this video from February 27, 2020, when you were moving calves into the calf barn. I LOVED this!!! it was so informative. I learned a lot, and especially loved seeing the babies and how you handle them. The horn situation was very well explained along with the unique tagging for each calf. Thank you SO MUCH for answering questions I’ve had. Also loved the scripture at the end.
Another great video young man. I like your style. No theatrics and loud music. Just a nice explanation while your doing your daily chores. Also, Love the bible verse at the end.
Really enjoy your videos. I use to work on a dairy and now my wife, daughter, and I have beef operation in southeastern Ohio. Really enjoyed the Bible verse at the end.
Hi Eric...I like the cows, all of them, but of course the calves are the cutest!! :) :) I've watched all your video's up to now...some twice! All of them entertained me indeed! Great camera work and overall great video's! yay
I think an Udder to Truck video about the milking process would be a good video/segment. Farm History would be cool, given you have 10 generations of it! A tour would be nice also. Thank you for the awesome content!
Very well done channel Eric. I like how you go about presenting what your doing and the why your doing each task or operation. You do a excellent job of informing the viewer while showing them at the same time. Thank you for doing this channel and I look forward to seeing and learning much more from as a non farmer. I do have a love for dairy farms as my grandpa had a dairy farm back in the 1960's and he lived a ways from us so I didn't get to spend much time on the farm. I usually got a few days a year and I really enjoyed the time in the milking parlor and watching the process. He milked like 4or 5 at a time and had a pipeline milking operation I believe they called it. Have a great day.
This video on calves was most interesting. My dad explained how they did that on their dairy way-back-when, was cool to see and hear it. I would guess that a lot of people don't stop to think that on a dairy farm cows would be in all stages "of being cows". You included plenty of detail. Thanks for sharing. nose to the grindstone-full speed ahead !!!
I think those little calves are lucky to have you caring for them - as are the rest of the cows on your farm. Your gentle nature and competence serve them all well. Any video you chose to do will make me happy! I like the Bible verse at the end of the video as well. Thank you.
I think when people have skin in the game they take better care of thing’s because it’s their business and it really shows with the care you give your animals, thanks
Hi Eric, I am really loving your videos and I would like to see more of your region and state perhaps a bit about what you like about your area (with regard to farming mostly). For example where I farm we had really good water supply and hot weather which was great for growing grass etc. maybe take a half day off and go for a drive in the truck and take the dogs show us around. bit of drone footage too.
Great video! I like that you do the horns right away. I have removed grown horns and it's a real pain for the cow and the person. When you remove grown horns, there is always a real good reason. Like one of our cows hated kids. One day she attacked my baby and her horn nearly went through his cheek when she flipped him against the wall.
Xcaliber Trekker / I think he meant what products are made like chocolate milk, cheese, yogurt, butter. How is the milk from Eric’s dairy processed, if so I’d like to see a off site vlog if the buyers are willing to let Eric video their operations and Eric has the time!
@@michael7423 They rarely if ever allow that. I'm sure it is just mixed with all the other milk the supplier purchases and sold to us that love there dairy products. ;-)
Thanks for the scripture!!! Sometimes it takes just a simple verse to remind us of God’s love. Felt kind of bad for the calfs being separated so early from their moms, but the risk of disease makes sense.
I would love to know more about your families farming history there in PA and would also love to see you and Sask Dutch Kid meet up or MN Millennial Farmer ! Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing 🐄

I was looking for a dew to pop out of the fridge when you opened the door lol. Good video as always, going to get rid of some snow this weekend as its supposed to get up into the 50's. Is Megan the only other employee ?

Hey, the farm is amazing!! I started watching your videos almost a week ago and I have very few left to see them all!! I'm from Costa Rica, Pura Vida mae
i believe they dont allow that so the mama doesnt make a connection? they do bottle feedings with the first few milkings from the mama for the colostrum natural antibiotics etc..
What might it be like to be raised in a dairy. TLC, lots of food and care and You will get lots of milk. Please keep these videos coming. Superb. Thanks.

Eric I love your explanations of the business side of things. It seems you grow most all the feed for the cows? Just adding toasted oats n molasses for taste? It's fascinating that a chug of feed would effect the production. Show us examples if you have any. PEACE
I wish my kids can be exposed to this line of work. Not that they will ever be farmers but just to learn and appreciate hard work and honest living. I live in a city where this is not available. You guys should seriously consider a type of mentoring program for youth. I would pay to have them involved to any extent. Great job you guys. God bless you
Is colostrum used for any dish in your area? In Sweden it is used for a dessert called here calf dance. Calf dance or colostrum pancake is a dessert made from colostrum. The raw milk is seasoned and boiled together with sugar and salt, in a water bath in the oven until it solidifies to a creamy texture. A common spice is cinnamon or cardamom but also saffron. I have never used the paste, I thought burning them was the cats meow after years of using the dehorn tools but the next batch of feeders I get I'm going to try it. I always hated dehorning, that and docking lambs tails was jobs I didn't mind missing.
How do you keep the freshened cow's milk separate from the rest of the dairy milk? What do you do with the bull calves? Do you raise veal or do you quickly sell the calves at auction for someone else to raise? You have a very nice and efficient set-up for the freshened girls and their calves.
Great awesome video, I like your videos cause you just put up a video as you go , I would say just post what you feel like posting to be honest, I like all things of dairy since I’m born and brought up in dairy farming and grain farming,
Nice set up there. It is easier to walk calves if you walk them backwards. Gently turning their heads in the direction in which you want to turn them as you go using both hands to guide them but you probably know this anyway. I like the implant idea to combat Pneumonia, not sure if that is legal here in the UK? I presume you give the calves the mother colostrum for the first few days to build up their natural immune system?
Good video Eric, educational! So, excuse my ignorance, do the mom cows raise their calves at all or are they not materialistic animals? Thanks for the videos. Also, your friend Seth is working hard and his videos are improving all the time! Nice job helping him.
